Rat Hunting

I was on vacation yesterday, so have much time in house cleaning.
I have time to hunt the rats on our home since I have found some roaming around two days ago.
When I take out the linoleum on one of the corner of our dinning area, I found four of small rats and I killed them.
Then I get the vacuum and clean up all the mess they form under it.
But I could not saw their mother, so hopefully next day.
Have you experience this also? Or are you using a preventive measures so that the rat will not enter in your house? Please share.

Have you tried stuffing all the holes where they can get in from? Buy some "steel wool" and go around where you have pipes coming in like under the sink and bathroom, stuff the holes around the pipe to stop them from coming in, they won't get through the steel wool, it will cut them up. Check spaces in the floor boards and take a knife and stuff the steel wool in all those spaces and around any heating units you have. I have lived in apartment buildings where they had mice and rats and this is the first thing I do in my apartment and I have never had any getting in.

Oh, you did a great work to prevent them from moving in.
I think I got the reason, our house doesn't have any gaps from
walls or floor and even from the pipes.
I think, this is the reason where those rat came in, our back door is normally open in a day so that the air can come inside and to have enough light on our kitchen, I think those rats came in when this door is open. Hmmm, I think I need to installed a screen. Thanks for the idea.

A screen door sounds like the answer, make sure there are no spaces around the screen. I am not a cat person but if I saw a rat in my apartment I go the next day and get a cat, that will keep them away, those rats are so nasty! Good luck with the screen.

its not a problem to me. ive got 3 cats in the house. they do the job for me. hahaha. ive no rats in the house anymore. they even find cockroach and kill it for me. i think they dont want bugs or insects or rats in the house too. so they keep searching and looking for it everyday.

I am scared of rats... and i remember when our house was not yet renovated... i would see a lot of them roaming around... and my mother would alway put a mouse trap just to catch them... good thing i live in a relatively newly built apartment... so there are not rats inside... and my parent's house is quite new... and my mother would always be on guard for rats or mouse...

So you had a rat busting day!I hate the sight of rat roaming around the kitchen.We have same experience during our stay in Manila (that's during my elementary to highschool days).We tried everything just to get rid of them, from dora rat killer to rat trap.It's not only in the house, we can see it running about during night on the street...not the small but real big ones,eeks!
I wish one day we can rent you for busting roaches-specially the flying ones--we have a lot in the provice

I remember the moment that we visit my husband's siblings. I saw a very big rat in their kitchen. We hunt the rat but unfortunately it run away but that rat was so cute because we try to look down on the refrigerator and we found out that rat is getting some of my husband's nephew school supplies. We found a ruler, pencil, and one piece of bond paper under it.

You reminded me of my experience in my old house. There were small rats hanging around which we usually kill by putting Dora rat killers around. When we were about to build our new house and we were transferring all our appliances, I was shocked that when my son lifted the old oven in the dirty kitchen we saw newly born rats under it and oh I was so horrified and I did not know what to do. So I let my son do the killing because I hate the sight of rats. Now that we have built our new house. I make it a point to keep all surroundings clean and tiny and even the vacant lot near us where those rats are coming from kept clean to avoid breeding places of rats.
