We have photo cameras at the Intersections. Do I look good?

The other day, that is Tuesday, we were driving to my husband's physiotherapy. He was talking and I was half listening. So he looks out the car window and says, "they have a camera there," and there was the picture of the black circle that indicated that the city had installed cameras at the intersection. So what I do is to look in the car mirror and straighten my hair to see if it is not messy.
After all if they are taking our picture as we drive through the intersection. I want to look good. Tell me, are there any of you like me? Is your appearance more important than the city's desire for more cash?

I could care less LOL Half the time the cameras do not work correctly and misfire. Does make me it a bit more careful about running red lights. I have read in our local papers that running of lights has decrease but people have been getting in more accidents and those intersections.

My husband is a careful driver and we all know that the camera is just a cash grab by Winnipeg to get more money. Goodness knows they have enough by putting in those recyclable boxes so they do not have to pay us for our recyclable goods, but they always want more, but if they are looking at you, they are not looking at the speedometer.

Those cameras ara big scam anyway. Here only a small portion of each ticket is even given to th epolice department. The company that sets up and maintains the cameras get the majority of the fee.

That is terrible. I guess they see it as a way of ripping off the drivers. I mean in many cases, the charges are false and if the driver is a good mathematician (after all Winnipeg has two universities, plus at least two colleges( he can get the case thrown out of court.

Three weeks ago one of these cameras cost me $70.00 for committing a moving violation. There were pictures of my car with license plate clearly shown and also a video of the complete incident. None of the photos showed me close up, certainly not able to see if my hair or makeup was OK. So if I were you I would not worry about it!

Well in case something went wrong. I do not want someone to point at my photo and say there's that woman with the messy hair.
But when you hear there are spy cameras all over the place, you do wonder how you look like.

I wonder what would happen if the camera goo loose and swiveled around and instead of just seeing the license plate and the speedometer, looked at the driver and the passenger. And then it look again and again. Would be sort of a shock would it not?

Sure,Sure. I was wondering whether the police look at the pictures of the cars and point out who is in the car. And whether someone opens the window and shakes their wrist at the camera as they speed past.

Hi Suspenseful, Here in the UK we have cameras everywhere, in shopping malls, at the intersections, alonmg the road, in shops, in the town watching over us, at the nightclubs, everywhere so I have just got used to them. Where I work we have eight just in one small room so we are constantly watched if I wonrried about my appearence each time I would be constantly in the beauty parlour instead of living my life. Ellie :D

Ah but they have the cameras at the intersections to catch drivers speeding just a little bit, So it is a cash cow, not a means to keep people from shop lifting or catch crooks in the act. But if I can keep them distracted, so much the better.

I will do that. Anything to help motorists not have to fork out more money. Down with the cash cows and my little sacrifice (well big because I am on the large side) will help.
And those cameras are all over the place in Winnipeg. Hmm those maps seem very interesting.

I could care less how i look for those cameras. In fact, they got me on camera and sent me a copy..lol with 100 fine to see it. LOL. I turned on red which was legal, but apparently i never stopped before i turned i just went on through. They even gave a link to a site where i could put in the notice number and see the little video..no worries though they diddnt get close up of face..they jsut show close up of the plates of the car..so look good or not, i wasnt on camera anyway.

I guess you breathed a sigh of relief.
I would. I have this hair that falls straight and my face is sort of red. Not to mention I am overweight. But I often wondered whether the cameras caught sight of the driver and passengers, just in case with the, on the driver's point anyway, photo ids, the driver of the car did not match. I mean if someone took your car without permission, why should you get a ticket for speeding?

Oh, this is funny.
I think, but am not sure, that we have cameras above some of the intersections,
but I do not fix my hair. I hope you smiled pretty for their camera.

I sure did. I figured they are more interested in the car license plate and the speedometer but in case the camera got knocked off, I wanted them to have a good look. And I figured they needed to identify the driver and me, the passenger.

Oh I hate those things! We don't have them here yet but they are in many of the cities I go to. My husband got a ticket a couple of years ago for going through a yellow light as it was changing. They sent it to us in the mail with the photo of us going through the light. One of my friends suggested that we mail them a photo of a check to pay the fine, lol.

How cute. Yes we have them in our city too and I think all cities in Canada have a few at least. The only way your picture will be taken is if you go through a red light. hehe so fixing your hair and makeup doesn't matter. hehe I think that these cameras are a good idea as it might help to reduce the amount of people running red lights. Maybe people will think twice about it since it will cost them money if they do it. I have seen many accidents because of people running red lights so I am happy that the cities have put them up.

It does not. Where I live when you walk across the street, you take your life in your hands. You are supposed to be able to cross the street on the walk signs, but in reality with the cars who make left hand turns and do not wait, the pedestrian sign should show the starting sprinting sign they have at the Olympics.

I've noticed the increase in the number of those cameras in different places. At first they didn't bother me, but lately it seems that everything I turn around, I see another one. I don't know if they all work or not, but I'm a bit uncomfortable knowing that I'm being "watched". I suppose I goota do the same as you and straighten up a bit so I look presentable on camera.

I do not know if that particular camera sees what I look like, because from the mystery dramas I listen or watch, there is a camera that you see, and one that you don;t. So while my husband was driving to get his Blue Cross prescriptions cashed in, and I saw a camera sign, and even though I was wearing a skort, I put my knees together so I would not look like a tramp.

I don't really care, I'd rather give them something to talk about--look at that woman in the Toyota, she's picking her nose!
They're everywhere because of people who run red lights and break the speed limits. They free up cops to investigate more serious crimes.
Trouble is, most of the revenue goes to the companies who provide the cameras, at least that's the way it was when I was in Arizona.

Ah does not seem fair. I was hoping that we would get a notice from the city that we get a large discount on our real estate taxes. Or "your drivers license is all paid up for the next five years." But I guess it is not so simple. I suppose that means our taxes will have to go up to pay for the trial of all those motorists caught speeding.

Well one look at my face, and they will reconsider using cameras to catch speeders. Maybe we should cut out pictures of ugly faces and scare the radar people. It will sure make them consider taking off the cameras.

Whenever I see someone wanting to take my photo, I run and hide behind someone. And I certainly do not like a camera taking pictures of me when we are driving. I mean they could use it for anything. Publish it on the net, or something like that, scare everyone who goes to that sight, give them heart attacks, etc.

Yes i do always try to fix my hair before a picture, but i do nt take a good picture
