hi ladies, when u plan to marry would you rather own your bridal gown or would you rather have it rented? for practicality... LOL. i know the wedding day is the day that most girls dreamed of. me too i want my wedding day to memorable and special. but would you spend too much on your bridal gown? i know a lot of bridal shops that rent gowns fro first time users. you choose your own gown and they will cater to what you like and the measurement will be based our your body but the thing is it is rented and it is not as costly as owning it. would you or would you not?

I have bought mine. that way it can be perfectly fitted to my waist (I waist train with corsets, so my waist is much smaller than my hips and bust) and then get to keep it. okay it will be just taking up space, but I love the thought that I'll be able to take it out and remember.

Was it hard getting it fitted? It was absolutely horrible for me and it still didn't look right in the end. I was so upset.

don't know yet. they do the fittings nearer the time, to allow for weight loss and gain. their seamstress, apparently, is good with proper corsetry, so should have the right mindset and be able to get the proportions and shaping right. fingers crossed.

In this day and age, it's really just a personal choice. It's very easy to find personal seamstresses, discount websites, second-hand stores, charity shops or just getting it off the rack from a past season. It's not hard to find a nice dress for very cheap. My dress was only $200 from ebay.

Hello there princess, since I am getting married soon too, I've decided to have my own bridal gown tailored for me and have the gowns of my secondary sponsors rented out (I've consulted them of course and they said that it's okay since they have a lot of gowns from other weddings with nowhere to wear anyway). My planned wedding is just a simple one with close relatives and close friends, the most is 15-20 people. Simple, but solemn, but with good photographs of course...since it is going to be one of my cherished memories along with my gown. :)

I think that a wedding gown can cost lots of money and it will only be worn once. If I got married I think that I would buy a second hand gown from one of the adverts in my local newspaper. If I couldn't get one in that way I would hire a gown from a shop. Then I could have the gown of my dreams at a moderate cost. Then after my wedding this gown could go back to the shop. My wedding photos would be keeps not my gown. If I bought a second hand one I would sell it on again.

no i dont think it would feel the same or special as having your own dress that you can then keep as a physical memory of your special day, and could be passed down through generations. Also i wouldn't want to think that someone else has been wearing the same dress as me, i would like it to be totally unique
