The day stretches before you and you have no work to go to (if you have choose a day when you haven't please). What are you going to do. Will it be fun or painful? I'm off to recycle some plastic bottles. You can't say the P1ke doesn't know how to live!!!

Well, it wasn't painful. I read the papers, did a washload, put clean sheets on the bed, went for a walk ... just an average Saturday, really. Went for a drive on Sunday to visit the in-laws - fortunately just a day visit, so four hours in the car and then home for some peace and quiet!

That sounds quite a busy day to me. A four hour drive. You probably have better and straighter roads than us. But I'm off to see my parents 70 miles away tomorrow and I'm going for three days!! LOL.

Well, it was two hours there and two hours back - but I think Aussies are used to driving longer distances than you lot. When my parents first came over from England to live in 1963, they needed to pack a thermos just to go down the road! They still do lengthy planning and preparation for what my husband (a farm boy of old) considers a short trip. Enjoy your family visit!

Hi p1ke This past Saturday, I was at Magic mountain, with my daughters and grandson. We had a great time, I'm so tired and my legs are hurting. But we had a blast. so I would have to say it fun and painful. We spend 10 hours at the park.

Hi P1kef1sh, Well this morning couldn't come around quick enough for me as my eldest daughter is home for the weekend and the whole family went out together this afternoon. Its not often I have all three of my children together. I also made their day as I couldn't fly to Spain on the Wii money, I divided it by the 3 of them and gave £50 each which was timed really well for the older two as my younger daughter had £26 left til pay day and the older one not working and her allowance really only covers her living costs. I like to make people smile and they weren't expecting it. My day was a mixture of the pleasure pain priciple though but I will explain that one in a discussion I post later. Glad to hear that you are doing your bit for the environment. Good boy! Have a great day whatever you decide to do. Ellie :D

My passport runs out in Decemeber so I can't fly 6 months before, £72 to renew plus it costs as much for Jacob as it does myself and flights as it is school holidays are just ridiculous. I will go in the Christams shutdown as we get about three weeks then so if I travel after New Year should be cheaper, give me chance to get passposrt renewed. You can take all my cardboard if you want, I have my glass collected. Ellie :D

I am sure that the children, especially the girls are overjoyed with their money, and I bet that you are overjoyed with having your daughter home. I'm unhappy that you aren't going to make it to Spain though. You have to have a holiday too. What a little Green I am. LOL. Glassware tomorrow.

This week though i am having a night in to catch up on some rest! So today i have done pretty much nothing! the only productive thing i have done is go and cook dinner for my grandmother, other than that have been online and watching rubbish tv in my sloppy clothes!! it's been great! unfortunately i am going to have to hit the housework with avengeance tomorrow!!! xxx

That's a very sweet thing to do, cooking for your grandmother. Good girl. I have a mug with a picture of a 1950's housewife, removing a perfect meal, from her prefect oven, in her perfect house, wearing her perfect clothes; not a hair out of place. The wording says: "A clean house is a sign of a wasted life"!!! Think of that tomorrow when you are scrubbing. LOL.

haha i like that!! i've got one that sounds similar and it says yay! one more chore and then it's gin and tonic time!! i'll keep them both in mind while i scrub the day away tomorrow!!! lol

Catch up with all the e-mails I flagged for the past week. Think about cleaning the floor. Send Mr Croc shopping. Then play games on the computer. Maybe a short nap in the afternoon, then back to the computer or maybe the tv. Think about finishing knitting my grandsons scarf. Read a book.

That sounds quite a busy afternoon to me Nanna. What book are you reading this week?
@nannacroc (4049)
23 Aug 08
One book is a Ruth Rendall compilation and the other is a very interesting book written in the 70s and describing what computers would be like and used for by 1999. He was wrong.

At the moment my son and I are enjoying cheese pizza for lunch. Not going to be doing much as I haven't been feeling well so just taking it easy. We camped out in the lounge last night, watched a movie and he fell off to sleep while I caught up on the shows I've taped but never got around to watch last week. Enjoy your day!

hi pikey well the morning here is overcast but by noon it willbe hot and sticky . I am mylotting, big whoopee, about the same as recycling plastic bottles, not particulary exciting huh. but yet I am addicted to mylot and a lot of myfriends do make my day here so all is not lost. at my age just to be alive and enjoying the friendship of mylot is pretty amazing. I still do miss my job at the Library mostly because I was among people of all ages, enjoying my work, and enjoying my coworkers. I have never really loved the idea of being old and sitting down chatting with other oldsters about our livers, and our operations and whether or not we were constipated, I like to be out in the mainstream of life among people of all ages and talking about anything but our health. lol.Here it is Saturday and our garbage trucks are again bringing back our dumpsters creating an ungodly amount of noise, they have the oddest thing going here, we are a large apt. complex with almost two hundred families here, and only five dumpsters. well they bring in five garbage trucks, each one picksup a dumpster making all the noise from hell, takes it out and dumps it into a big truck, then all five come back and bring back the five dumpsters all making ungodly noises.I wouldnt mind all this except this is going on right outside mybedroom window where I am sitting in front of my monitor trying to type. thank goodness they seem to have finished. have fun recycling Pike.

The recycling was last week Hatley. But there's more accumulated during the past week and so I shall be off again in the next day or two. Is there any volunteering work that you could do now that you've stopped at the library? The City Council might be able to give you some ideas.

Saving the environment! Good for you . Well, now that Tropical storm Fay is FINALLY gone. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1666430.aspx I have cabin fever and will probably be going out to do some retail therapy. Some of what I will buy is wants, however mostly I will buy needs. Although some roads will be flooded and some will be closed, traffic will be a mess... I hope it won't be painful.

The weekend is when I clean the house the most, and do laundry which I hang to dry on the line. My hubby has been working these last few weekends trying to get money saved up o fix trailer before winter. So I will be cleaning a bit and popping on Mylot occasionally. I also usually have my little sister on Sundays and Wednesday while my parents go to church. So between cleaning spending ime with little sis there isn't much time for me on weekends..

Well the only excite we have going on right now is Septemberfest going on over in the next county. Ours isn't till October called the Apple Festival. We could have a fun filled day of riding rides,playing games,looking at crafts and eating everything imaginable made with apples and a few free concerts. We could take the skylift up to the top of the mountain and see the sites it overlooks and slide down that is great fun..We could go horseback riding they are tons of trails and take a picnic lunch. Of course your backside my get sore riding so long. We could go to the the caves in Carter Caves that is always fun to look at. Kentucky also has great fishing holes and I love to fish..Kentucky's "Unbridled Spirit" makes every activity an adventure. Our nine distinct regions offer the visitor a bounty of sights, scenery and activities from which to choose. Kentucky's geographical diversity encompasses the mountains of the eastern Appalachians, the lakes and rivers in the western part of the state and the rolling hills of the Central Kentucky Bluegrass. We're known for our bourbon and our thoroughbreds, but we're also known for our beautiful state parks where every sunrise and sunset is a new experience; our unique festivals, celebrating everything from bluegrass music(We have a great place in town called the SIPP that host the best bluegrass music) to barbecue, and our historic sites, paying tribute to Daniel Boone, George Rogers Clark, Henry Clay, Abraham Lincoln and others who helped forge Kentucky's destiny. And if you like Golf we even have that. Located less than one mile from downtown Paintsville lies the world-famous Paintsville Golf Course, a haven for perfect greens and a bastion of countless Spring and Summer memories. We also have a beautiful Painstville state park. The history of Paintsville dates back to 1790 when a Virginia Colonel named John Preston came with a group of trappers and traders to establish a trading post for furs and hardware. My maiden name is Preston, but I doubt their is any relation.. Here is a link to learn more about the town I live in so it won't be so long.. http://www.paintsville.org/page.php?15 I am sure if we tried you wouldn't have a dull moment.

You sound so industrious Becky. A very busy bee indeed. Here right now it is pouring with rain, so no washing is going to get dried. We don't have drier so it looks like we shall be having laundry hanging round the house. Yuk. I bet that you are a great big sister. So when is Becky time? What do you do when you have a few hours.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
24 Aug 08
The sun's come out now so we might get a little washing out. So what is there to do in your part of Kentucky. Today's the last day of the State Fair so I guess that you won't be going to that! There seems so much of the State. Lakes and rivers, hills and mountains. If I were to book into Hotel Beckyville for a week, where would you take me. What must I see and what in hindsight, would you love to se again. I've got a car so there's no problem with getting about. Maybe we could get a couple of horses though. Indulge me and dream.

Oh I have had great excitement today, I baked a cake for the first time in about ten years or more and it came out wonderful! It only took me four hours from start to finish to get it done as well which was even better. The sun was out for most of the day which meant that I could get loads of washing washed and dried and sit on my doorstep and soak up some rays which made me feel really happy. I think if I was a cat I would be purring now! Oh and to top it all, while I was fetching my washing in there was a beautiful full rainbow hanging over my garden, or so it seemed and it was lovely!So I have actually had a pretty good saturday!
@p1kef1sh (45681)
23 Aug 08
Well done with that cake. Is there any left now? There's nothing better than to sit and enjoy the sunshine. It's raining here but it was nice earlier on. Hope tomorrow's good too. Enjoy.
