Last Sunday was my 26th birthday. We (my mom dad myself 3 sisters an aunt 2 cousins and a brother in-law) were on a houseboat in the Okanagon Valley. My sister got up and wished me happy birthday. I said thank you and we sat and drank our coffee for a while while everyone was getting up...others got up and finally she says "Saundy, i'm sorry but i should remember this...how old are you turning today?" I said "26" Theres dead silence and suddenly she bursts out with "H oly C ra p you're OLD!" and then looks really guilty. At that my aunt (who recently turned 52) choked on her coffee and says WHAT?? Now how do you think that makes me feel..let alone her! I wasn't offended it actually made me laugh because shes been telling me since i turned 18 (shes 3 years younger than me) than I'm Freakishly old. What kind of reactions have you gotten to your age?

Not that kind. LOL So she is freaklishly old too. I believe 26 is young and 52 is also young. Your sister is just messing with you. Happy Birthday!

She was serious at the time...She apologized later and said she thought i was only turning 24 this year so me being 2 years older surprised her! Thank you for the birthday wishes.

That is funny, I hope that she will remember next time, or she is not going to win friends in the family. I hope you enjoy your day :)

That is a very odd reaction my friend and I am glad that it did not offend you when your sister called you old,and I am sure you aunt felt ancient,I am twenty three now and my brothers who range from one year to three years younger than me sometimes call me old,and even my fiance who is like two years younger than me calls me old,but I know they are just kidding, and do not take it to heart, because I know I am far from old, even though sometimes I do feel old.

I think if it had been anyone else reacting that way...I would have found it odd. Its good that you dont take their teasing to heart.

Usually I am told that I do not look that old at all. It is okay, either way. It is just a perception thing. Wait til you are my age. Nice to see you back, hope the trip was fun.

Funny you should ask. I am 27, and my husband is 63. When people find out that we're actually married (we have GIGANTIC matching wedding rings), they start asking all kinds of interesting questions. "Oh my GOSH! Is that your wife? She's so YOUNG!!!" I guess that sounds better than: "Oh my GOSH!! Is that your husband? He's OLD!!!" hahaha And my mother married a younger man, so when the four of us go out together, people think I'm with him, and Hubby's with her. LOL

That would get confusing! It is a pretty big age difference but age really doesnt matter (or shouldnt matter!)
