I love to swim when I am in the tropics, my home country is surrounded by cold sea water. I have swam with a manta ray, sting rays, a turtle and small sharks. Which creatures would you be happy to see whilst swimming? Is there a creature that you would be scared of?

Hmmm I would love to swim in the sea and see great creatures. But I live in the Philippines and whales, dolphins, turtles and the like are not a common sight in our beaches. So someday I would love to try swimming and then suddenly meet a turtle, a dolphin or even a killer whale. I'd love to see Free Willy. ;D But I already saw Nemo when I once swam in the sea. These guys catch coral fishes and sell them to people. Poor fishes. I know they wouldn't survive at the hands of the kids and locals. I have tried trying to raise a sea fish and had no luck with it. There are also creatures I wouldn't dare meet while swimming in the sea. For example, sharks, jellyfishes and crocodiles! Funny but these also don't exist normally in our seas. Hehe! But if ever I'd be swimming somewhere else in the world, I hope I wouldn't encounter these guys! Surely, it would be goodbye world. LOL.

taga cebu ka man diay... Go to Badjian. You can even find a seahorse while you are swimming. Go to Bantayan Island. You'll be surprised to see somany sea creatures. We went to Bohol, we saw dolphins. my family is from Manila, but is now temporary based in Davao City. We went to Camiguin island, a whole school of dolphins followed our ferry boat. a very big sword fish went up and down. Here in Davao, snorkling and scuba diving is a treat of life. Turtle or pawikan sanctuary can be found all over the Philippines. When my husband went Dolphin cruising in Australia, they were not so lucky to find dolphins at that time...he saw dolphins in bohol and camiguin...enjoy cebu...it is a very nice place.we were there last aug 1 to 4.

Haha seems you know Cebu's sea life more than I do. Oh well, thanks for the recommendations. I'll go there if budget permits. Haha.

hi! we thought of buying a property too in bohol. we wanted a place near loboc river. the plan just didnt materialize because we are permanent residents of manila. who will take care of our property. Now that my husbands office brought us to Davao, we are interested to get a property in samal island...i dont know yet if this will push through. it is really nice tolive by the sea.

You are by far more braver than me my friend, I would hate to think anything is swimming around me that is not human! I am not keen on swimming in the ocean because of what may be in it! Jellyfish put me off for a start the fear of getting stung or getting tangled up in one, I think seeing Jaws put me off, I know it sounds crazy, I don't think I would be even brave enough to swim with dolphins, although the thought sounds wonderful. I always stick to swimming in leisure pools, safer! Not very adventurous am I LOL!

I always used to love seeing dolphins surfing on waves when I was out surfing myself! Sea turtles where always a welcome sight as well. But the most amazing thing I have probably seen while out surfing is a migrating whale! It was quite far out but all of a sudden I heard a loud WHOOSH sound as it spurted water out of its blowhole and when I looked out to sea there was this massive whale slowly moving south..... It was unbelievable! The worst thing to see were sharks becasue most of them were NOT small! lol.

I think a dolphin would be cool to swim with. I've only swam with minows and loons. Ok, and a labradore retriever. Sharks would not be my thing.

my family goes snorkling when we have time. we see so many creatures under the sea. One time, my daughter fished out a weak eel. she thought it was a hair band with polka dots floating. when we ride ferry boats, we see dolphins and sword fish. there's plenty of sea urchins too. But, I would really really like to go to Sorsogon. This is a place in Southern Tagalog, where the Mayon Volcano is. This place is the home of Butanding. The gentle giants as they are called...big big whales, and feed only on planktons. Some of my friends went diving with these butandings, but there were those who were not lucky, no butandings appeared when they were there. My husbands work brought us to the Island of Mindanao, very far from Sorsogon...maybe when we go home to Luzon, we will plan to see the butandings.

Hi maximax8! I would love to swim with so many beautiful and colorful fishes under the sea. I have seen swimmers under the sea surrounded by those rich colored fishes and it looks so magical. I wouldn't like to see a shark around me though. haha..That will scare me for sure. Take care always..God Bless!

i am from the tropics too, and i do love swimming. but seeing those movies which depicts of sea creatures devouring humans, i have my doubts.. hehe.. but most of all, i love to swim with those gentle whales, whaleshark as it was called.. those who eat only planktons and nothing else. they are really harmless. and i guess i am secured when it is by my side while swimming. hehe

I think for me I would be scared of sharks and jellyfish and anything that I couldn'tsee but feel against me. I am working on overcoming a fear of swimming in the sea so right now so at present even seaweed scares me LOL. It is wonderful that you have got to swim with so many wonderful sea creatures though. Ellie :D
