Now, I am. after a this, who wouldnt. My last trip almost caused me a heart attack. I was aware my passport will expire in 5 years. the problem was, i miscalculated when it was issued last.we got the promo tickets for the trip.my companions reminded me a thousand times that the trip to Bali wwas purchased through promotions so I could not backed out. there will be no refunds,no reroutings and whatso ever. I said yes to all. 8 days before the trip, i was told again to check my passport...I was reminded that i could not travel if my passport will expire within 6 months. I was so pissed off by the constant reminder that I actually did checked my passport. that was 8 days before the trip! imagine how I felt when I saw the dates. My passport was to expire in 4 months!and we cannot travel when passports expire in6 months! I ran to the embassy---they told me, i can leave the country but when I get there, i might just be told to go back. I ran to the department of foreign affairs...to find out that they have been upgrading their system and it will take 7 days instead of 2 to get my renewd passports. for 7 days, i looked like hell. Luckily I got the passport on the morning of the 7th day, I was to leave dawn the next day...if I had not checked my passport on time, I could have wasted so much money...so please please...check your passports all the time.

Yes, I always know my passport's expiry date. I got my latest passport in 2005 and it is valid for 10 years. My older son needs to renew his passport because it has expired. My younger son got his passport in 2007 and it is valid for 5 years. I know that most countries require visitors to have a passport that does not expire within the next six months. I was pleased to get a new passport without evidence that I have been to Israel. I am glad that your new passport arrived just in time for your trip to Bali. Thanks for warning other travelers to check the expiry date of their passport because that is very important for all international travelers.

I thought I needed to inform everyone about this matter. It was really very careless of me not check the dates when in fact all I needed to do was open a drawer and pick the passport up. Unfortunately, it happened to my husband too. Why? because his passport was with me. He needed and Australian Visa, I forgot to check the passport...well,he made it to Australia though on time for his meeting but imagine the stress it caused.
I think you are a very organized person. I would like to ask if having an evidence of being in Israel is not good? My friend and her family went to Israel. They came home during the not so good times there. Went to the US and now they are here...they plan to go back to the US. They have passports with Israel marks.
Thanks for sharing.

We had applied for our passports many years ago and for whatever reason they got delayed. This was on 1992, so they did not have the restictions they have today. But we ran into New York City and got one made up on the spot as we were flying in 2 days. Funny thing though, as soon as we got home that day, the other one had arrived in the mail. But better safe than sorry.
Now we are every careful and renew it early. Ours lasts 10 years.

the other night, i dreamed that my kids were flying to hongkong...and their passports just expired! passports have been haunting me.LOL
Oh, you could re apply and get double passports?I think that would be wonderful, because here,if you applied the first time but your name will appear to have already applied or issued a passport...it is a big big head ache...lawyers lawyers lawyers will be needed.LOL
Happy trip!
