At Least It wasn't A Goats Head - A Present On My Doorstep - YUK

I have just gone to go put the rubbish out and on my front door step is what are the remains of a creature, too big for a mouse, possibly a water vole or a rat, but in pieces, lots of innards everywhere, lovely, NOT. Aaaargh, I have come back indoors can't face in at the moment, my cats never use the front door they always come to the back so another delightful cat has decided to deposit for some reson. I have had the odd mouse from mine in the past but they are good I usually jet get left with a kidney rather than the creature and have never had a bird. The thought of clearing it up is making me feel sick already. What has been the most bizzare thing ever left on your doorstep? Ellie :D

Hey there, I never had anything left in my door step, but they sure have brought in a handful of little creatures. I have one cats that is always getting the bird, I have to run around the house to catch him and release th baby birds, sometime I can help other times i'm too late. I've had baby mice, roaches, lizards, and one bird (alive) I was able to save him. I have heard the reason they do that is because thEy are showing their love.

I have quite a few cats that I went to a lot of trouble to put in a new door that had a kitty door in it. Then after all that work I have ended up closing their door off so they can't use it. It got to the point that if I had to wake up in the morning to another small animal screaming and being chased around my house I thought I would go mad with grief. Now I have a ladder outside the house that goes up to one of the upstairs apartments that has a window open. From there they have to go to big hole in the floor that my brother cut where there is another ladder to come down into the storefront which is connected to my apartment by a door that I leave open for them. So while they can still come in and out whenever they want, they NEVER come up and down those steep ladders with prey in their mouths! Hahahahahaha!

Oh, Ellie, I just hate that this nasty thingy is on your doorstep! Believe me, I can't think of a single bizarre thing that has ever been left on my doorstep. I used to have a cat years ago when my son was growing up and I'm sure I had my times of finding icky things there. Well, I don't blame you for not wanting to clean that up. I think I would throw about 5 layers of newspaper over it, have a garbage bag nearby, and quickly sweep it all into the garbage bag. Good luck, I know you can do it!

ohhh....I always encounter that! LOL! In my parents' house, dogs will never do that, dad trained them so, whenever we have a new cat, on the moment of training them, they will always give us a surprise and work to do! LOL! I hate it so much! LOL! But, have to get some tissue or paper and pick it up and dispose it then wash the area with soap and water! My Parents have chickens and chicks too and when we will open the doors, they will be flying there to get inside and gave us again another mess to clean! LOL! but, theirs is not smelly as cat's mess!

My little furry Benefactor has once brought me back A rabbit (a smallish one!) -I have a photo someplace..must post it sometime!,various Birds, and Meeces. He insisted on going out one wet night recently.and on his return,I opened the door to him to find him in the doorway quite wet and bedraggled looking, and there on the OTHER side of the doorway was an equally wet looking (and still Alive!) mouse He'd brought home! Needless to say,I closed the door with them both outside as I didn't need any other house guests..!

Hi ShepherdsSpy, the delights they bring home with them eh! I know this pressie wasn't from my cats though as they always use the back entrance and I have never had more than a mouse. I don't blame you for shutting the door on your cat. Ellie :D

I couldn't leave a comment on the pic, but that is a fair size rabbit, I guess your cat must have been really proud to have bought that one home. My cat sits in with my rabbits as daft as she is, she thinks she is their mum bless. Ellie :D

yeh i've rescued numerous birds and a mouse just last night both my cats do it just one of them loves me enough to do it away from me. The youngest however regularily used to jump through the window with a bird still alive sometimes i'd have the boody thing squarkin round the house and the pair of them thinking it a game while the dog tried to investigate or get out of the way. I shouted her last night and she came down the path when luckily i noticed something in her mouth "STOP!!! DON'T YOU DARE MRS" and she dropped it and it scarpered urgh i had to pick her up and bring her in the house and then listen to her cry and scold me for the next hour or so. I read somewhere they only do it if they love you it's a sign of affection a present can't she just give me a kiss or a cuddle urgh not with mouse mouth!

Hi Mands, Well I have a secret cat admirer then as its not my cats ammon. Sybil will babysit the rabbits and did the gunea pigs too when they were alive and even sit in the hutch asleep with them, crazy cat and Wilfred loves his mummy and will bring home an odd mouse, over the years I have never had a bird. It wasn't very pleasant I must say. At least the bunny was still alive, makes you wonder how they manage to catch them eh! Huggles. Ellie :D

aww a human and a cat admirer you lucky gal well considering the bunny was bigger than my cat maybe the bunny bullied her to let him/her in. Somehow i think not just one of those strange relationships like yours with the guinea pigs i guess she went back out with him when i let him out they sat in the back garden together. Strange!!

Banjo doesn't leave things...he plays with them till they expire from their injuries or exhaustion then he consumes them. He seems to want a playmate rather than a victim of his hunting skills to my mind. He has brought home chickens, a baby rabbit and several bats...none of which had any injuries but I did remove them and return them as far as possible. The bunny was very beautiful and so sweet and cute...the chicken belonged to someone and the bats...please don't mention them but they are protected species here. He gets lots of mice and also frogs and lizards and birds. The birds around here though give him a pretty hard time if he even looks like he's stalking a feathered friend.

Hi MsTickle, I am just thankful my cats don't bring too much home and never a bird so whatever cat left this wasn't one of mine as I have had them too many years so know their style, Wilfred actually has two blackbirds up the road that are his friends, crazy cat and Sybil sits in with the rabbits and protects them and thinks she is their mummy. Banjo certainly brings you an assotment. Huggles. Ellie :D

The last remains of a mouse. I thought alot how to clean and remove it from my door step. First I thought its my courier who dropped this, someone might have sent for me but then finally i cleaned it up. Thanks God there was not too much to clean as I started feeling vomiting after cleaning that stuff.

hi ellie years back we had our own house and my hubby ran a landscaping business.our kids were little. anyway my hubby hired a young man as a helper and the kid was so lazy myhubby had to fire him. The next night we were woke by some man really drunk who was on the phone and very abusive so my husband hung up on him. the next day we found my newly planted flower bed and been uprotted and the flowers flung on to our door step. we the police and my hubby told them about fireing the young man, but it turned out it was the nephew of the man he had fired who pulled up all our flowers.

That's kind of gross to see in your doorstep. I hope it is not a piece of a human's body parts or something. I wonder who could have left it in your doorstep. I have never receive something so bizarre. It's probably because we have a gate and no doorstep.

Hi Kidjuwee, It was probably another cat as we have many in the area, but I know it wasn't from one of mine as they never come to the front of the house and always use the back and in all the years I have had them they haven't bought anything more than a small mouse home. I have cleared it away now, no it wasn't human remains definitely small creature or I would have called the police. Ellie :D

I have had many gophers, birds, and other field critters laid in the kitchen or the living room from my loving and adorable cats. They are honoring us by giving us there catch. I'd just as well not have them because sometimes they were still alive but injured and I have to doctor them, scolding my babies and letting it go again when it was well enough. I hated to scold them because I do know they were gifting me. It some gifts I can do without.

Hi Moondancer, well I must have a cat admirer bringing me gifts then as it wasn from one of my two LOL, in all the years I have had them the most only one of them has bought to mummy is a mouse or what was left of it, we had guinea pigs and they thought they were thei parents rather than try to catch them as they lived in the garden and they only ever go out and come on through the back rather than the front so this is a mystery. Wow your cats bring you an array of gifts bless them even though to us its horrid. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

How cute!! A darling kitty actually left an early morning gift for you!! They really ought to gift wrap the stuff. Mine do a lot of hunting at night, and in the morning, we see plenty of corpses and parts of corpses all over the house. Luckily most of them are insects. There was half of a mouse once and at another time, a quarter of a frog. They don't leave it at the doorstep. They bring it right into the kitchen and expect to be congratulated. :) Cheers and happy mylotting

Hi Positiveminded, I am used to my cats little pressies which are usually small mice or what left of them that they will bring in, that why I shut up all the doors in the house so they are only out the back bit, this was at the front though so not from one of my cats, I must have a cat admirer eh! Sounds like kids with a nasty pranking habit. I don't think I've ever had anything left on my doorstep, well, not weird or anything. Better clean it up before the hot sun gets to cooking it, then you'll have every animal in town sniffing round your door.
