most girls start around puberty. It's tough to tell, I mean if your daughter has man hairy legs, well that's your decision to shave it or not. as to the first post I must be horrible, I don't shave mine for months at a time!!! lol, sounds gross but my hair doesn't grow that fast. Not to mention it is blonde, so you can hardly see it.

its just such a hard decision, to me when they start shaving they are starting to grow up you know something i just don't want to happen to quick. so its nice to have opinions of other parents.thanks for your response.

They need to be at an age of responsibility. Since once you start shaving your legs you are going to have to do it at least every other day. Therefore a child needs to be mature and responsble enough to do it as much as it is needed. I would say 13 but if the hair is pretty thick by age 12 then that might be acceptible, I think if the girl is mature enough to comb her own hair and bathe with without being told, then they are likely ready.

Shaving the legs of a four year old is a bit unusual, but if it is thick and unsightly I would suggest you see a doctor first as once you put that blade to her legs the hair will come out thicker and she will have to keep shaving it. Hopefully she does not have a complex about it. Maybe she should wear long pants and jeans for a bit to see what happens or to wait until she is about ten or eleven. I would not make a big thing about it to her. Get advice.

Well...you didn't say if the hair on her legs is soft or thicky corse like a man's beard. If it's soft like baby's hair, then I wouldn't worry about it. My daughter's legs were like that and she was proud of it. After she turned 13, her two year old baby brother was playing with the razors and shaved not only her leg but her skin that went with it. Then, she shaved it herself. It's all a matter of how you as her mother reacts to it and how thick it is.

When she starts asking about it which will be around the time she starts puberty. I think I was about 12 when I started shaving mine. She will know when the other girls aroudn her are shaving their legs. I wouldn't worry about it now she is still a toddler it will be quite awhile before she will actually be shaving them.

i know its gonna be awhile its just hard not to think about things because they grow up so fast and she is my oldest and would already be trying if i left my razor in there cause shes done it before.

I have 5 daughters they all started shaving when they wanted to one who has very dark hair started when she was around 9, probably because her older sisters did, but she had very dark hair on her legs, most of them started when they were around 11 or 12 though. I never told them they could or they couldn't they just started doing it when they wanted to. I was given an age when I was growing up and I was teased cause about my hairy legs so I let my girls do it when they were feeling uncomfortable with it.

you said little, so it means she's really still a baby. why thinking of shaving her legs. she will know it if she's in adult stage. let her. theres a time for everything. dont decide for her.

well she may still be a baby but she don't act like it and if i let her decide for herself she would be trying it now she already has, she seems to think shes grown. and its not exactly thinking of shaving her legs its wanting other parent opinion on what age a girl should shave.
