Its a shocking incident for all the sympathetic people around the world that in Pakistan 5 women wre burried alive only because they wanted to choose their own husband. Most ironical thing is that a Pakistani lawer defended the decision by the southwstern tribesmen, telling stunned member of parliament to spare him their outrage. The women in which three of them were teenagers.were shot and then thrown into the ditch. They were still breating as their bodies were covered with rocks and mud. Israr ullah Zehari, the lawer defende it saying that these are centuries old tradition and should be defended. Is this the death of morality and sympathy and at the same time freedom of one individual in a half developed country?

This is one of the most horrible things I've ever read! I know it's not right to judge other cultures by our own standards, but there must be some way to protect women, or anyone else, from barbaric traditions. How have these thing survived all the years of enlightenment other countriies have enjoyed? Are there any movements to do away with these horrors? Is there anything the rest of the world can do? Most likely, they'd make an excuse for new attacks on us for butting into their country. Can we bring them out of those countries and provide sanctuary here? I know there have been cases of women who escaped and were chased down and executed. I lament having no idea what we could do!

Hi cobrateacher!Nice to see people like you having concern for these barbaric and unhuman acts.Though we should keep this in mind that we can not provide whole the universe a sanctury but yes,we can always educate and spread the awareness among those who don't know how their acts are barbaric! Its all humanbeings' duty to help provide safe and equal world for all to live in.

This is just horrific, and although I understand the US supports Pakistan because of its necessity in fighting "terror," I'm not sure it is worth it if this stuff actually happens. Just because something is a centuries old tradition in now way makes things moral and right. Just sickening to me that this exists in the world, and that some people support this.

Oh that makes me feel ill. That's so horrific. And people say women have equality. We don't while this barbaric behaviour is still going on. I'm angry and saddened. Sometimes I despair of the human race.
