Do you always close the door of your room?

When I was a teenager I always had my door closed...for whatever reason. Now that I have a family of my own, it's always wide open. I want to be able to hear something in the night. I guess it becomes habit when you have a little one. I can remember being little and my father and step-mom would always shut and lock their door. I thought it was rude and cold of them to do so. Children need to feel safe and protected...how does that happen if the parents lock themselves away for the night? I always felt like an intruder even for knocking.

I close my bedroom door during the day to keep my dogs out of the room. One sneaks onto my bed when I'm not in there. During the night I keep it open usually unless I have company then I close it all the way.

Since it's just the three of us living in our apartment, I always leave our bedroom door open. I find our room can get quite stuffy if the door is closed. If we have visitor then our bedroom door is always closed. I lock it too when we are out of the house when our visitors are home.

Sure I do. I value my privacy. I feel very uncomfortable when the door to my room is open and I am inside. Though I am not doing anything unspeakable, I don't like to have people walk to me without me having advance notice. In fact I feel irritated when my door is opened or knocked on too. I rather people accost me when I step out of my room.

Hi Dolce_vita, The only door I always like to make sure is closed when I am in the house is the door from the hallway to the lounge as my front door has a glass top and without this door closed people can see in, at night I close all the doors except for my sons and mine which I will leave ajar and leave the landing light on so that if he stirs he can see to come to my room. I don't get angry when people leave doors open but get slightly annoyed if upstairs rooms are left open in the cold weather as all the heat escapes out of the lounge and up the stairs into them. yeah, i always close my door even when i am doing nothing. leaving the door open, i feel like my room is not integrate, it's not a room. while during sleep, i must keep windows and door close.

I'd say 95% of the time the door to my room is closed. I am often listening to music while I'm online and i don't want to disturb anyone with the noise. Also my cat likes to knock things off my dresser and table in my room so that's another reason i keep it closed a lot

My bedroom door is also my computer room door (they are in different rooms but ajoined) which goes straight to the living room and I always leave it open. In fact I leave most doors open. The only time a door is closed is if either of my granddaughters is trying to sleep and the other is being noisy. Ohh and if we are having a private conversation with anyone in the computer room, or if we are having alone time. I dont know why but I hate having the computer room door closed, I just hate it!

They say that doing what you do implies something about your personality. I do not know what it is, but for sure, it's a good thing. :) I always close the door, when I enter and leave a room. Especially my room. I don't leave it half-closed. It better be open in full or closed. I don't bang the door when I'm angry, in fact, I still close it gently just as if I am not mad. Here's how I do it... I twist the knob so the tongue or latch won't make any noise, hold the side of the door gently against the jamb to minimize the sound and twist the knob back again till the door's closed. I think I'm just being OC but I don't care. How about you? How do you close doors?

I generally close the door to my room because I have two dogs that I prefer not to have in my bedroom. I would prefer to sleep with the door open - basically for air circulation - but I don't want to share my bed with the dogs! Right now, I have a mother cat and five kittens in my room. She had the kittens in the barn, but the neighbor's dog killed the other cat's kittens and I don't want him getting these, so I brought them into the house. I am keeping them in the bedroom to keep them away from my dogs.

I live alone so usually all doors are open always. Its basement apt the door at bottom of steps i had installed when i rented the whole basement doesnt have a lock. The purpose of the door is to keep my cats downstairs. The landlord and my son (who rents room upstairs) must still come down to wash their clothes. I spent most my time in my room. When i go somewhere i lock my bedroom door. And the back door to the house, which serve as my front door.

Hi dolc_vita, The only thing that closed is my front door and back door, I like all the doors of the rooms open and my bedroom doors when I go to sleep I don't like the feeling of closed in, I can't breath. Tamara

I usually leave it partially opened because I have a cat who likes to go in and out of my room. I usually only close it all the way when I am getting dressed. I don't worry if people keep my door open or close it. I don't really pay much attention of that.

Like you, I prefer it to be closed. I can not stand when the door gets left people. It drives me insane, seriously! My room is my private place to escape from the world/my family. I enjoy being alone, lol.

I close the door when I sleep at night. My roommate leaves a light on and that would keep me awake. I need dark.

My door is always closed 24/7 to my room. I like my privacy. But if i'm not home or gone then I leave my door open...

[b]hi dolce_vita78! i always close my door because i want to keep my privacy. haha! another thing, i don't want mosquitos coming in and out of my room. when i leave home, i also lock the door of my room to keep it more safe and private but there are times that i forget to lock it but it is still fine. another reason i have for locking my door is because my mom comes in to my room and when she sees something she didn't like she gets pissed and says negative things to my nanny and my nanny would tell me what she says negatively about me. happy posting and happy mylotting![/b]

Hi dolce_vita78, same like you, i also always would like to close my room door as i like privacy. But this also depends whether i am alone at home or not. If i am alone, then i will choose to open my room door or stay at living hall. If there are someone else stay with me in the house, then i definitely will close my door room. If someone enter my room without close the door, i will base on who is the person to decide i want to close my door room or not. For sleeping, definitely i will close my door.

when i leaved home alone ,i always close my door,but ,if there is someone other (such as a male)in my room, i always open my door widely ,for one thing,i can protect myself ;for the other ,it can avoide many disunderstandings. I always close the door of my room and even lock it if i am sleeping. Safety first as they have said. . Another reason is yes privacy as whaty ou had said. If the door is open someone might just enter without your permission and i hate that one disturbing my privacy so better close it for me not to be disturbed.
