Why do you reply if you have nothing to say?? I stumbled across a discussion in which someone was looking for a friend whom she/he had not seen recently. many people replied that they had not seen this person either and would appreciate an update. 2 people said simply, I don't know this person. WHY?? This is not contributing to the discussion. This is just replyng to hear yourself speak. ARe you so desperate for a penny that you will reply for the heck of it. I don't get it. I think I'm pms-ing but this pis$es me off. If I start a discussion about a movie, don't reply telling me that you haven't seen the movie, unless you want information or have heard of the film and would like to see it. If I start a discussion about a friend don't reply, unless you can add something. If I start a discussion about anything, do not reply telling me that you have no opinion. Now that I've pis$ed some people off, tell me: How do you feel when people reply to your discussion with nothing to add?

cyntrow I try to see if maybe I have missed something before I get bent out of shape as sometimes the person is asking about something and maybe is adding a bit to your discussions. but if he or she is just posting for no r eason then I too get irked'but sometimes people having no opinion might clue you in to making a discussion only catered to a few elite people here. come down off your high horse and dont be too hard on some people here, most are intelligent users and responders and some are using English as a second language so maybe have not really understood your discussion.Usually all people add something if you know how to find it.

I don't know... lol "joke" Well yes it just really annoying when people just come and put some random comments just to earn a penny, but tell yourself that those people are just here for money and don't even look after fun here. I'm quite sad ofr those people because they are missing their social life (even if I couldn't speak of social life on the internet lol) Example : I made a topic about the kangaroos, an endangered species, then a random people (I won't give his name but I will report him/her) just came and wrote "oh my god this is lame"... What the HECK ???? What's the point writing that ???????? Really I don't understand some people coming here on myLot... Thank god there are some people like you saying what they think of them ! Have a nice day, and don't be too much bored of them !

So you're saying you would rather have no response, than a response that doesn't suit your criteria? Get over yourself. Anways, these discussions are not private, they are open to anyone and everyone. If someone wants to reply, they can, whether you like it or not. They might feel they *are* contributing to the discussion by replying that they haven't seen the movie or whatever. Since it is a discussion site, and they put their opinion that it was lame, they are discussing the fact of it. What difference does it make to you? I am not here for the money, but i will reply to anyone's post that i want to, regardless of if you want me to or not. :)

Ok but when you're replying to someone, you should at least bring something new in the discussion, not only "this is lame".. This brings nothing and just ruins the fun. People replying things like this should only keep it for themselves and stop bothering people for nuts. Anyway the guy has been banned or something because I don't see him anymore, and his posts has been deleted.

I agree, oscuro. It's the same thing as coming in and typing "I agree" to every discussion. It contributes nothing and is very annoying. And for the record, snowberries, yes I would prefer people who have nothing to say not reply at all. as you said, this is a discussion site. If you don't have an opinion, there is nothing to discuss.

I think people just jump into a discussion to say "I don't know" because they just want the money. i'm sure that those replies are one-liners, & that is against the MyLot guidelines. I'm not sure if you've been here as long as I have, but there was this one guy who copied & pasted the same comment in many discussions, even when the starting discussion was very long. He was stating that he did not know what was being talked about, & to please add more detail. For a while, he was listed as the top poster, but in the end, he had all his responses & the few discussions deleted.

Actually, the only people that I will report are the copy pasters. I can't stand them. One guy was so stupid, he was copying and pasting replies from the same discussion. In one discussion that Tee did, this guy copyed Tee's discussion and included it as a reply.

Those are the responses I wish I had the nerve to mark as negative. I find it very irritating when people post nonsense just to get another tic mark added next to their name. It also makes it a lot harder to find and evaluate the legitimate responses. I love to give the plus marks to quality responses. It makes me happy! PS. I feel like I am perpetually PMS-ing!

I love it when friends come in and joke and banter. Makes the discussion fun. I just hate to see replies that do nothing for the discussion. It's annoying.

Build a bridge and get over it. I don't see what the big problem is. People responded to your discussion, go get mad over it (?). It's a discussion site, if you don't want people to respond to your posts, don't post any, duh. I don't know why someone who hasn't seen the movie has any less valid reason to post than someone else who has, it's all part of the discussion. I don't think they purposely go around trying to annoy you, i think that you must be paranoid, no offence, but seriously, you take it way too much to heart. I will post on someone's post whether they want me to or not, if i have seen the movie or not. Granted, i'm not here for making money, but honestly, what difference does it make? Everyone has a right to make posts on each others posts because they are members of mylot. There are better causes to get angry about, maybe you should put your energy into that instead of what someone posted.

you are perfectly entitled to your opinion, snowberries. And I am entitled to disagree with it. In this post, I am not just referring to my discussions. I despise this in any discussion. And I disagree, the respondant who said, "I don't know this person" was not adding a thing. They were just responding; probably replying to every discussion on the front page, whether they had anything to add or not. You are right, this is a discussion site. Those replies are not discussion starters, they are discussion enders. Thank you for your reply and have a nice day.

There are ways of replying and saying I don't know but I am interested in this discussion.I had a friend ask about music but I couldn't answer. I did reply saying sorry I couldn't help but I also said I wish her luck. But I can't see responding I don't know or saying absolutely nothing.

It never ceases to amaze me when people do this. I must come across a dozen of these a day AT LEAST on a day when I'm fairly active here. "I have no opinion about this", I've never heard of that (person, movie, celebrity, TV show...)" and other equally off-topic and irrelevant replies. I don't think you're being snarky and I feel the same as you do and I'm beyond both PMS and menopause so I don't think it's that either, Hon. It's perfectly normal annoyance about people who are wasting their time and ours! THERE, I've pi$$ed some people off too! Annie

My first thought is WTF! I find it annoying. I have reported one reply to a discussion of mine and it has been removed. If people cannot contribute to a discussion, as you said, they should just not reply. PEACE

Hi, Cyntrow!! So you're PMS'ing, are you? Poor baby. I remember very well what that felt like and it's something that I don't even think about missing! But you make a valid point here, pms or not. Even if they didn't know the person that was being sought, and they wanted to make some sort of reply, they could at least have related a similar experience or something. Anything. But to reply just for the sake of earning a penny is pathetic. Yeah, those pennies add up, but geez, it takes forever and what could they possibly find that would be in the least bit gratifying in posting a reply like that?? It's frustrating, but there's nothing that's going to stop that sort of thing. I've ignored similar replies on my discussions, just passed them by, without comment. What else could I do, except maybe go off on them, and I don't particularly enjoy getting myself all pissed off, so ignoring them is the best thing I can do with them. So, do ya feel any better now that you've gotten it out, darlin? I hope so. You're someone I want happy and satisfied - I want you here. So rant on, Cyntrow, rant on!

I've got nothing to add. HANG ON. I've changed my mind. OK. 1. All are welcome at my discussions. 2. I prefer them to contribute something useful. 3. I always reply to every respondent unless they are obviously congenitally stupid. A link to their "make money" website is the kind of thing that I mean. 4. If they write crap, they'll get crap in return. 5. What's God got to do with it? Unless He's relevant I don't want to know especially. 6. I don't respond to discussions unless I have something to add/say or want to clarify. That'll do for now. Have a nice day as they say in America. But I don't know why cause it's never said sincerely.

Got me wondering so much that I've just started a discussion about it. Have a blooming OK day or as we say over here.... Oh, we don't say anything over here unless you work for Pepsico/MacBotulism in a bun, KFC etc and a host of Brit copycats who as you will know expect all their staff to wave a cheery farewell to clients with that hippy farewell that you outlined above. LOL.

It takes all kinds to make up the world, cyn. Unfortunately, we have to put up with a certain amount of useless responses just to wade through to find the good responses. It's the comparison that makes good and bad responses. But I get where you are coming from anyway. I agree, it is annoying. Along with those who completely missed the point or cannot write english well enough to even make themselves understood.

It has not happened to me yet, but I would surely be mad if someone did that. It defeats the damn purpose of writing the post. I would hope that the system does not work that way, meaning someone who write a meaningless post would still get paid. Something like that should not even count, and I would even think of reporting a user who did so.

Maybe PMS makes you start a discussion about it, but you're not alone it having it annoy you! I have no doubt that these people are simply looking for anything they can answer, even if they have no answer, just so they can accumulate a tally that will result in a payout. The sad thing is, we can't report them without jeopardizing the entire discussion. Maybe someone could comment on their answer that if they continue to respond with non-contributing comments, they will be reported for violating guidelines. Then copy and paste the very guideline that says to not do it. If they did that to me, I might be inclined to ask them why they responded at all if the topic doesn't apply in any way to them. If they say to earn money, I would forward their response to mylot.
