Unexplained Disappearances!!

Ok, I've typed three, count them, THREE discussions over the past four or five days, and every single one of them hasn't gotten posted. Why, you ask? Well, I'll tell you. I type them out, I title them, I put them in an interest group, I do everything I'm supposed to do, then I hit 'preview discussion' and they disappear!!! Up comes a screen that says 'unable to post content. Please use only letters and numbers, etc, and so forth'. Now, in typing these things, I only used letters, not even any numbers, and no hieroglyphics or alien symbols. Really! All three of these discussions had poems in them too and they were poems that I created as I was typing them and hadn't written them down anywhere else and now, they're GONE! Just gone - poof! - bye, bye - sayonara!!! I wrote the admin a message about it asking for some answers and I really hope I get some. And now, if this thing gets posted, I'll not only be shocked, I'll also be pissed. I want this posted, but I also wanted the other ones posted and it DIDN'T WORK!!! So, we'll see. Has this happened to you? What did you do? What am I doing wrong, for cryin out loud???? Help!

Nova Luv..I'm having a heck of a time posting today and i have this fast Roadrunner internet..I wonder if anyone else has this problem..My messages go through but it takes forever to post..at least they aren't being ET like yours..sounds like you have some vermin eating away and creating havoc...if i was more computer know it all I'd help, but I'm an Idiot!

If you're an idiot, I'm half an idiot. Or something. Ack. My puter is super fast too and I never have any problems with it. It's not the computer, it's me. Just me. No one to blame but me. But now, thanks to Goodie and Scoop, I know what I was doing wrong and I won't be doing THAT again! Yikes! How infuriating it is to lose something like that!!!

Oh girl i am so sorry to hear about that happening to you. i have not dealt with that as of lately. i think i would recommend not hitting the preview button. maybe there is a glitch in there some place. i know what you mean about getting something down and having it lost. that happened to me the other day when i was updating one of my website.

I did hit the preview button. Always do, so I can proofread and see if I like the way it all looks. But Scoopy solved it for me. My hero.

I'm so sorry this happened to you nova. I have had it happen to me a time or too. I always write to them asking what's up? Why things happen usually. But those times I just figured I did not do something I was suppose to. I hope you get to retrieve the post. I'd like to read your spontaneous poems, that's how I do them and they are the best.

I notice you said you do "preview" first? could that be causing the trouble?? I guess I have never done it that way, I just go ahead and post it. Good luck hearing from admin, I have contacted them a couple of times about things and NEVER heard from them....

You're not pissing me off, Netty, not at all. ANd yeah, this one did post just fine. But now I know why. I was taking too long with composing my discussions. I didn't know there was any sort of time limit on those things, but I guess there must be. From now on, I'll compose my poetry before I try to post it here and not while typing the discussion.
As to hearing from admin, I got a response from them the last time I wrote to them, which was the first time, so right now, they've got a good track record with me. We'll have to wait and see if they answer my latest missive. Most people I hear from say that their questions never get answered. I must've gotten lucky. Will I get lucky a second time? Dunno. I don't know how they decide what to answer and what not to.
But - welcome to the Lot, NettyB. Here's wishing you many happy hours of fun and frolicking!!! Trouble-free fun and frolicking, that is.

Hi novataylor,
It is possibly a bug. I wouldn't suggest you ALWAYS post straight. Don't use the preview mode, I have always find it buggy be it for discussions, responses or private messages.
If you need to edit it, then do so in notepad or Word then paste straight - and post straight after that.

I have had this happen before Nova sweets but not that many times! I know how frustrating it is when it happens once or twice never mind 3 times! Glad you finally got this one posted and hope it never happens again! I keep trying to copy/paste a discussion BEFORE I hit submit but when everything is working ok I am always forgetting. lol Smooches xxx

This sounds very strange. I have never had a discussion not post but then I have never done the preview discussion. I just post them and they appear. I never use the preview button on anything.
Could there be something wrong with the preview button? Did you get any message saying the content was wrong or anything like that? It sounds very odd. Were you logged in at the time? I know you can start discussions and reply while not being logged in but when you try to post it tells you that you are not logged in and will not let you post. That has happened to me a couple of times.
I have posted a few discussions recently with no problems at all so I cannot help you on this. I hope the admin team can figure out what happened to them.

I used to think is was because of the length of my posts, but I've since found that's not the case. In checking out other discussions to see if anyone else had posted about probs at the same time, I developed the theory that (your posting probs) happened mostly when upgrades were being done 'behind the scenes' that didn't require a full close down of the site. I've done a search for your current timeline, and others were having probs loading too - especially those using dial up, so perhaps that's the answer?

hi nova I have typed out responses checked for errors hit response and they were gone, out in the ionosphere someplace as they sure did not show up on the discussion I was responding to, and again I have responded and not found the response in the
discussion I was working on, then retyped resent and lo andbehold there were two of the same thing. I dont know what either of us are doing wrong. but I think the preview screen is sick from something and mylot needs to repair it, I dont use it any more as I have lost two discussions to it in one day. lol.

My notifications are all on, but I am either only getting notifications from a few or nobody is posting discussions and nobody is responding to my responses. I found a response to one of my responses by accident yesterday. I wasn't notified.
Mylot must be goofing around with some programming and screwing up some stuff we are not aware of. Since they haven't posted anything to let us know that they are screwing with us or anything. So I am also baffled.

Nova i know why!!!This has happened to be before!!! I know it sounds simple and strange but before you go to start the discussion make sure you are signed in. This happened to me a few times when mylot went through that stage of signing people of when they were signed in but not active for a while.
Its not the gremlins picking on you I can assure that and you are doing everything correctly. Its mylot losing the plot!!!

I think you're right, cinderella. Someone else told me the same thing. And I just hate that, how if you go away for 10 friggin minutes, the Lot thinks you've signed out or something and YOU HAVEN'T! Drives me crazier! And also, it appears that I take too long to type out my discussions and my responses too and I get signed out in the middle of them somehow. I don't get it. I guess I think too slowly or something, maybe.......
So no gremlins? lol, nope, I don't see any hiding under the desk, or in the coffee maker. Mylot losing the plot - that's a good one, I like it a lot! And yes, you HAVE given me some more peace of mind, thank you very much, darlin. I love your response. It made me smile immediately when I read that first sentence. It was like you were right there in front of me or something, I swear, I could hear it. So thanks for that smile too. Here's one for you.Trust me, it's me, I'm here with a big smile on my chubby lil cheeks.

Glad I was able to help you. It is annoying but I guess we will have to put up with it!! Its a shame we cant make up the mylot rules!! That could really be dangerous dont you think?? ha ha

Hey nova, That sounds like what's been happening to my
private messenges! I can't get any of them to go! I
type them and preview, go to tag, hit submit and then
poof they're gone into thin air. I've written to mylot
about 4 times, with no response. I really need to be
able to use my pms! It's really frustrating! People
think that I'm ignoring them because I can't write back!
There seems to be alot of glitches in the system. What
really bothers me is that mylot takes forever to fix
things and answer. This problem has be an ongoing one
since I got here over 2 months ago. I don't quite understand
why you would get that strange message when you went to
post your discussions especially because this one did
post!
