Well, to be honest with you i can not type without looking at the keyboard. There are some alphabets that i can type but there are many more that i cant!! Though i am good at the numbers, i can type numbers without looking at the keyboard. Planning to learn to type looking at the moniter and not the keyboard. I have not found the perfect "typing tutor" online yet but i am still looking for one that has a lot of practise sessions. What about you, can type looking at the computer screen??

Yup, I can... I learned not to look in my keyboard 'coz my teacher in typing during my highschool days hit my hands when she saw me typing with my eyes on the keyboard...(hehehe)You'll learn them...just keep on trying...However, inorder to learn typing without looking, you must acquaint yourself with the proper hands-on/keying.

Like Ganesh, I've been typing for well over 10 years, and I had a great start: typing dictation. Its definitely something you need to practice, but considering how much we do online there are always opportunities. I found it handy to have a 'map' of the keyboard just beside the monitor to refer to. Start slow, and before you know it you'll be gaining speed.

Hi there SangsTurks! I learned to type at a very early age. That is why I have learned how to type without looking at the keyboard at an early age too. What I am proud of is that aside from being able to type without looking at the keyboard is that I can type efficiently and accurately. The last time I checked, I can type 72 words per minute and have an accuracy of 99%.

I can type without looking at the keyboard. I like doing this at work because you can stare at people while you type and freak them out which is fun lol. Helps me get through my day anyway. I dont have a clue how I learnt how to do this, it just happened over night. All I remember is my college tutor saying wow you can touch type and I thought...hmmm I can can't I! The other advantages of me being able to touch type is being able to take phone messages alot faster and accurately.

Yes I can type on a keyboard without looking. But their are limitation. My typing speed is only 34 letter per minute and my accuracy is only 96%. When you apply to a typing job they required to type 100letter speed per minutes. Thats tough for me you know. And Im not good in numbers. Which is better to practice the upper key set on your keyboard. Or the number keys on your right? Beside your mouse.

Yes Sangs, I always type by looking towards the key board as well as screen. I am not an expert in typing and my speed may be with in 20 wpm. I am managing all my work with this low typing speed, though I have to type write about 2500 words per day for different purposes. Thanks for this nice posting!

I too look at the keyboard and type and i have a fairly nice typing speed. Your work must be making you use the computer quiet often and so you will start to type faster in some time like i did.

I had got through lower, higher and high speed in typewriting exams. a decade back. My current speed in typing is 88 w.p.m with accuracy level being between 99%-100%! But when i opt for higher rhythm, my speed slows down a bit. While responding here i don't type that fast!

Typing games help a lot, actually. I learnt how to type without looking at the keyboard by playing such games, and when you're in an IRC chatroom answering trivia questions, you sometimes don't have the time to look at the keyboard before you can press Enter. I'd recommend Typer Shark as a beginner's guide. Hope that helps!

Oh my God Anne, i too cannot use my thumb and the little finger at all. No matter how much i try to practise it is a waste for me , i always end up typing the three finger. Sure, if i do find something that would help people like us who use three finger to type i would definately share it with all of you.

I can say that I've memorized all the places of the characters on my keyboard. I can type without looking at the keyboard. I have learned this when I was still in high school and later on learned more when I was in college. I've practiced my typing skills when I was still working. I worked as a secretary before. I guess you have to practice more for I believe that "Practice makes perfect". Good luck. HUGZ!

Hello SangsTurks,I am good at speed,I mean atleast I can type 35-40 wpm but when it comes to non - stop typing without even one glance at the keyboard, even I cannot do.I will make typo errors here and there. It is always good to practice, definitely it improves your speed, but one should also take care of errors.Speed along with accuracy is a must. There are lots of good typing softwares, even I am looking for one.If I find one ,I will let you also know.

I can type without looking at the keyboard but there are just times that I mistakenly press the wrong keys most especially when I use the laptop. But basically, I do not look at the keyboard that much when I type stuff. I think it helps when what you do most of the time is just staying in front of the computer. I am a computer science student and I earn online so I can never avoid computers.

Yes, I can type without looking at the keyboard. I actually can type between 60 - 65 words per minute. I went to school for accounting, and one of the courses was typing. I was able to type before I went to that school. But at that school typing was grounds for you not to pass. Everyone had to pass typing before they were able to graduate. There are many websites online, that offer typing tests. The more you practice the better you get. It is a matter of starting with your fingers on the correct keys, after you have mastered that, it becomes easy.
