My New Lover!! =D

Singapore

Hehe, I took advantage of the Singapore sales at Courts and bought for myself a new laptop on an installment basis of 4 years! And receive a 1 for 1 offer.. So, instead of just having 1 new laptop now, I have 2! 1 for backup purpose and one for general surfing. I am so happy! My new laptop had just arrived to my house last Saturday and I had started to use it. It's just so amazing how fast the speed of the laptop is! Lol, I had expected that to happen as it was a desktop replacement set which means to say the performance of the laptop is comparative to a desktop performance. I am just so in love with my new laptop that I would call it my new lover . Had not opened the free laptop which was a mini laptop as well as the free gifts of a photo printer that had arrived. But, I believe that I would not be disappointed with them as well. It's so amazing the amount of free gifts that I was getting with my purchase because of the Hari Raya season that is upcoming in OCtober! Good for me! I am sure that I will fall in love with my new lover as each day passes and off goes my old chunky piece of laptop. Do anybody wants it? Lol.

WOW,Congrat on your new laptops,I means both of them`~lol In fact,I will buy a new one in the middel of next year as the old jack --IMB T30 can not work smoothly and very very slow now. Has S'pore being the sales?I understand that your country is busying with the coming F1 Road preparation.=D

Thanks! I really do love the both of them so much! I don't think I would be breaking up with either one of them anytime, just as long as they don't cheat on me by crashing! Lol. Yeah~ Singapore is very busy with the upcoming F1 here! Recently there was the Postcard Singapore lucky draw that Singapore Tourism Board had organised in a bid to allow for more foreigners to get to know about Singapore. Too bad I didn't won that! Lol, I had no address of my foreign friends and so in the end I sent over 20+ postcards to the same person - My boyfriend in Malaysia. I really wonder if that is considered as one entry or 20+ entries! THe Great Singapore Sales has drawn to a close, I believe and things will be going back to the usual prices. Last month, the whole of Singapore enjoys discounts of up to 80% off every item they buy here! And somethings are so dirt cheap that you can easily get a shirt for $2 which cost at least $20+ before the sales! Hehe, I love shopping only when there is sales going on and I have money in my wallet!! Well, good luck with your laptop hunting!! What laptop are you planning to get? Which brand will that be? THe old trusted brand of Toshiba or the newer ones like Acer? Take care and thanks for your response!! Happy Mylotting and have a nice day!

Wow good for you, so much new things. I wish I was in Singapore then too so I can buy some new stuff. Too bad its a bit expensive for me to go there now so its just not possible. Well I hope you enjoy your new lover and all the gifts that came along. LOL I want you old laptop, but then again I guess its better for you if you sell it there.

Well I know I will one of this days, thanks. Well you are right they have so much unwanted spyware and possibly some malware so I suppose using your old laptop is the best way to prevent your new laptop to get infected. Wow Singapore seems to be a nice place to be when talking about technology. In my country even though there is strict competition between companies prices seems to increase rather than decrease.

Lol, I guess I am lucky that I am someone who does not like any other entertainment much or otherwise you will see me complaining about the cost of living in Singapore rather than complimenting it on the low cost of its electronic products! Where are you from by the way? It seems to be so bad that even with competition going on, it just drives all the prices up instead of down. That seems to be a little weird! Is it because the people from your country don't really trust cheap stuff and don't buy it? Because here in Singapore, we would always buy bargain buys, and would feel the pinch to even pay an additional $1 for something that we could get for cheaper cost. That could be the reason why when one competitor bring his prices down, others will naturally follow to try to hold on to the bulk of consumers. Either they will match the lowest price in the market, or they will beat that competition and lower their prices to be below theirs. In the end, something like 'price war' will start to happen among all the retailers, driving all the prices down and benefitting us consumers. And I love that when it happens!

I'm form the Philippines and I think the cause is not because people here don't prefer cheap things (I for one try to find good products for the lowest price). I think its because even if the world market prices drop people here who sell things try to make an additional profit and doesn't drop the price. For example is the oil, though the world market states that oil prices dropped, here we won't get a roll back on the price of oil until after a month or so which in turn also increase the price of other things more. Well I guess the closest we'll get to goo deals here is the monthly sale in the malls, which really doesn't seem like a sale since the discount on the items are barely noticeable.

I have an Acer notebook I bought after saving, and slaving for a newspaper for five months. Till yesterday, we were inseparable. Then its power supplt crashed, overloaded school sockets. I had stuff I wanted to download, and instead of my laptop which is protected, downloaded it onto a flash disk using an unprotected school PC. Well, today after repairing the power supply, I transferred the software onto my laptop, and, VIRUS. An annoying virus that pops up like a screen saver, and reads 'Your Computer is being attacked.' I could not open files or copy anything or transfer data from one device to another, CDS, flash disks, even external hard-drives. And it deleted my antivirus. What I did was format my hard-disk, losing all my data but deleting the virus. Thank God I had secure backups on a website, for my most important work. Still, nice that you have a new laptop. My Playstation and my Laptop are things I would never do away with, and prefer them to most people.

Sorry to hear about the loss of data due to a virus from the school computers! They should have better protection than that. Oh well, luckily you had backed up everything that is important and is able to recover much of the data from the crashed disk. It's a real bummer when these sort of things happen. It just goes to show how untrustable hardware are and we should always remember to back up and back up! I remember a time when all my precious data were lost (memories of photos, videos) when my external hard disk malfunction. That taught me a hard lesson and that is one back up is never enough. We should have at least 2 - 3 backups, so at least when one crashes, we could still recover our data from the 2 other sources, right!? Hehe, the time of IT age had overtaken the world. In the past whereby bikes and cars are the ones which are inseperable, now it comes the world of the computers and playstations, which we would love and protect with all our lives, and never letting them leave our sides! Well, thanks for your response and take care!

Lol, Don't worry, my two lovers are very understanding and they just can't get enough of me. They will never be jealous of each other as I have programmed them to be that way! Oh man, I just love the new one to pieces. Actually there are many things that could be purchased this way, and that does not just includes clothes. Lol, the world is too competitive at present moment and the ones to benefit will be the consumers! Yippie for us!

Glad that you love your new lover. I've got quite a number of wives and mistresses as well(handphones and laptops) =) It might be my turn this weekend to get a good deal. Our 18 year-old fridge is screaming for retirement and apparently Courts is giving a 1 for 1(not sure its a fridge or a washing machine, its either one) and a $100 voucher. Just out of curiosity, what laptop did you get?..Or should I say what's the name of your lover? =)

Lol You are hilarious ain't you!? Oh well, another Singaporean!? WELCOME to the club! WE don't get too many Singaporeans around here. Nice to see a fellow countrymen! Saw on your profile that you are only 17, so how can your 18 year old fridge be screaming for retirement when you are much younger than it is? And yes, Courts is just so great ain't they? They are being so so generous for the Hari Raya season with all its one for one deal. Hehe.. I just can't help but felt tempted to buy more stuff there. But, well restraint will be much better with this case. (I think they are giving both, but it depends on the amount of money that you spent on getting your products before they were to give you the gifts in accordance to the money) So, did you get your good deals this coming weekends? My lover new name is the Acer brand, but I am not too sure of the model. Lol, I just like the looks of it, and that is why I took that model. It's somewhat a desktop replacement set. I think you might have seen it around Courts? Well, well.. well, have a great weekends and hopefully you get that fridge replaced! =D

No worries! I would be forever faithful to my new lover, and hopefully you will be too when yours arrive! Hehe.. the PC show is just too long a wait, and the price difference is not really that great at all. So, if you come across a good deal while waiting, don't hesitate grab it while there is still opportunity to! I am glad that your fridge had arrived before your old one conks out on you. Lol, goes to show how great Courts is! I just love purchasing at Courts as they had made the impossible possible for me! Three cheers for it!

Yup, it sure is good to see another Singaporean around. =) Our fridge arrived shortly before I did, and according to the promoters, the lifespan of a fridge is around 10years, so my fridge is really old now. We were at the Courts megastore last weekend just to check out the prices. There were quite a number of Acers lying around waiting for their lovers to pick them up, so its difficult to know which. I did see a high-performance HP desktop with a HD-ready 22" LCD going for like nearly $2k. It used to be around $3k for that kind of specifications, but I'm currently fully committed to my wife(MacBook Pro) which I got during the March PC show, so maybe I'll just wait until the 1 year honeymoon is over at least. Hopefully, we will be able to get a good deal this weekend but there's always Christmas to look forward to anyway. =) Be faithful to your lover, and have a great weekend!

If it serves you well, then it's still good and there is no need for a new one that fast! Lol... one must be faithful right? (I'm just kidding, no offence intended!) It's always nice to hear that not everyone has the "New one in, old one out" mentality! In today's time and days, many people no longer knows the concept of being frugal and just enjoy following the trend of the world. So, you are the one of the unique ones who appreciates the old one as long as it still could be used! Well, take care! And Happy Mylotting!

An installment basis for 4 years????? Wow, I didn't know there was such a thing! The deal sounds great! i am still at the stage where I am contemplating on buying my own laptop. Laptops here are very expensive and sometimes, I think it is really just a want of mine and not a need.

It's only offered at one of our electronics leading departmental store here in Singapore. And I believe that it's the only store that offers an installment period that is at 4 years! It may sounds good, but if we pay off over 4 years, the interest can kill and you will end up paying for twice the cost of the laptop! However, they offer the option of paying more per month if we can afford to. So, my monthly installment stands at $100 per month, but if I think I want to pay more per month, I can easily clear off within 2 months and I will still pay the usual price, with no interest charged. It's a bit confusing to learn of how the interest is worked out here. Where are you staying? Laptops prices are being lowered to an almost existent prices nowadays because of the fierce competition out there. If you just want a basic laptop that can surf the net, and do some typing, then you can consider the Acer mini computer You can't use that computer to play online games or what not, save for the real basic usage. But it's a good deal as it cost a fraction of what other laptops are costing. Thanks for your response! Take care and happy mylotting!

I did knew about the courts promotion of buying one lap top with a free mini lap top earlier.Soon later, they added with Buy one and get two free gifts of that mini lap top with a printer and NOW i heard buy ONE get three other free gifts. Its so much appealing promotion on this Hari Raya seasons. My dad even have the will to say to buy it even though we do have desktop computers and own a laptop..but my mum need to fork the money.Hahaha! At last..Its just a say,we dont need those for extra(s). I wish i could get one but i do have my own lap top which i bought november last year which costs a bomb!Of course with the high price,it have got good features. Its like a bit wasted to buy earlier than now.But i dont regret.Im thankful of what i have now.Lucky i dont get too hook by the promotions with a reason.. What's the disadvantage about this promotions was that..(im not quite sure about it)..it requires buyers to pay on an installment basis but not straight Cash.Courts have this system for buyers which i dont really like.Because i dislike to own debts. Some more, when you count the amounts of thing you bought, its actually much more higher than what you suppose to pay.It depends on people,if they perfers to buy this way,its up to them. Some may short of cash and need to pay bit by bit. =)

I see,but there's still a need to sign on the plan which don't favour me.Anyway, last weekend..on the papers adverts on courts said that buy One Laptop and get 6 other free gifts.I guess this is their last giftaways promotions on sale.Heheh..a lots mayn! ;)

Gosh~ NOW! I am regretting purchasing my laptops so early in the promotion! Imagine, getting 6 gifts instead of the measly two that I got. Now I won't be able to sleep at night just thinking about that Thanks for letting me know anyway! It goes to show me that I should wait the next time round. Afterall, patience is a virtue!

Erm, actually for Courts, when you sign up for it, it's installment plan, but my friend who is working there told me if we have the means, we can always pay all at one shot after signing up for the plan and getting the free gifts. Lol, you know what I mean? There is a way to beat the system and get the gifts as well! Anyway, I think I fall into the second category as I received the free mini laptop as well as the photo printer. But then the printer was only given to me after I pestered my friend for more free gifts. Hehe. Well, I guess different people have different opinions about stuff, and if you do have laptops at home already that is already such good ones, then there is of course no reason for you to get another 2 more brand new ones. Always buy what one needs and not what one wants. Good that you have that sort of restraint which I will never have, but still I always try to spend within my own means. I had signed up for the 4 years installment plan, but based on my calculations instead of paying $100 per month, I pay $300 per month, I would actually finish off the installments by end of year 2 instead of waiting for 4 years. In this way, the interest rate is also reducced by 2 years.

Of course I dang lah... ha ha ha ha...that is why I ask mah. Well, if you cannot let it go here, there is a shop in Ang Mo Kio that takes in old laptops. It is opposite the coffeeshop selling Tip Top Curry puffs. Besides the shop selling shampoo and other soap stuff. Hmm... 48 months of installments, means that you will be paying for the laptop at least two times over at the end of 4 years. Best if you can pay it up quickly. Otherwise, not worth the gifts that you get. So, what is the name of your new lover? Toshiba too? OR HP? OR Acer?

Ang Mo Kio! Well, that's a bit far for me to go to. Lol I have got to let's see.. change one feeder bus, and change two trains just to get to there, and it would take me over 2 hours, with no guarantee that they will offer me a good price for the laptop. But thanks for the recommendation anyway! I appreciate it, but then if you want to take up the offer, I don't mind letting it to you at a low price hehe.. Well, I had switched from Toshiba to Acers. I kind of realise that Acer makes a better lover than Toshibas. Lol, afterall they listen to me better and fulfill all my wants and needs which the Toshiba couldn't. That is why I decided to switch lovers and ditch the old one! Wahaha

Haha.. dang ku ku hor! It's of course not free la! I am hoping to let it go at around $300 - $500. It's actually a Toshiba Pentium III, and the specs are pretty old. So, it's more of a sort of a dinosaur laptop than anything else. And it's also very inconvenient to be bringing the laptop around as it is super heavy!! That's the main reason why I went out to buy a brand new laptop! Lol.. 48 months installment is of course with interest la, but if you want to beat the system and not generate too much of an interest, you can instead just pay off the laptop within 2 months, and the interest charged is almost neglible. So, in a way, it's up to us how we want to pay.. but the amount they quote for each month is just the very basic minimum to pay.

I am just so glad that our electronic stuff is not that expensive as compared to everywhere else. Besides that we have so many sales going on that sometimes it is just great living here! It's like totally cool to have 2 laptops for the price of one, and on top of that, there is so many expensive free gifts that were bundled together with my purchase! I just feel like I am on top of the world when the goods were delivered to my house! And I am sure that everybody will be feeling the same way I did if they were in my shoes.

Wow!! 2 laptops for the price of 1? How do you rate. This is an excellent deal for sure. I am lucky enough to have a regular home computer and a laptop, so I can be online from almost anywhere in my house, and can access the internet when I am running around town as well. I usually use my Home Computer at home though unless I am sick. Hope you enjoy your laptops.

This is really an excellent deal isn't it? And on top of that, there are so many other free gifts that it's like I am just paying for the laptop at half price It's always good to have two computers at home. Best if they are one desktop (for performance)and one laptop (for mobility). So, when one computer crashes, there is always the other one for backup and there would be no fear of not staying connected to the world. Hehe, thanks for your response!
