petplace.com/marsrecall This is not a referral link, but a link to an article about the recall of food from the company that makes Pedigree branded foods. Possible Salmonella contamination. I just wanted to share this with my pet loving friends.

Thanks for sharing. I spent most of yesterday cooking and freezing enough of my dogs food and treats for the next 2 weeks. I only add a very small portion (1/4 cup daily) of "Iams" dry food hopefully that brand stays safe.

You are busy, and perhaps we should get some recipe sharing discussions going. I bet we could manage.

Good Idea! My animal lover friends and neighbors are always asking me if I have a few of my Liver Treats for their pets (cats love them too!) Actually I find it cheaper and safer to make my own pet food.

Biggest problem is that people do not clean themselves, wash their hands, or their cooking utensils, then they do spread disease.

Another recall???? Thanks so much for sharing this, I hadn't heard anything on the news yet. Our food chain, including our animals needs to be safe, somebody needs to figure it out and soon. Look at all the problems we have, can you imagine how vunerable our food is to a terrorist attack. They would have no problem. Thats sad too.

Hi Sweets Thanks for the heads up. This was released a couple of weeks ago. This food is not sold where I live so I ignorred it. The people that own the mars co live here though. Forrest and Deb Mars have a place on Lake George and Deb is a local Ticonderoga gal. xoxoxoxoxo

This is the reason I never purchase pet shop food for my dog and cats. I prepare their own food and they are quite happy and healthy with it. Cheers and happy mylotting

Sounds like a good plan. I have a few recipes, and may have to do some myself. My pets do not eat this brand, but it makes all questionable.

It's sad that pets have to eat this crap- we should take better care of them, they (unlike us) don't really have a choice what they eat. I would never feed my dog anything from pedigree in the first place though, he only gets foods with NO wheat, gluten, soy, or corn. These ingredients are all unnatural for dogs, they would never have eaten them in the wild, and so they cause digestive problems and lots of allergies. Yet wheat or corn are usually one of the top ingredients in brands like pedigree, iams, etc. See dogfoodanalysis.com for recommendations on better choices!
