But don't even know if it's worth.
I'm sure most of you saw the infomercials about the Flavourwave oven or the Nuwave oven. I have been reading all kinds of reviews about them but can't really make any specific idea. Many people say they're worthless, prone to brake machines, others say they're great.
From the ones that say they're great half swear flavourwave better, the other half explain why Nuwave is so much better.
IF they really work I would love to have one, but won't take the plunge until I hear from you guys.
So... anyone has any of these? Care to tell me about your experiences with it?
If it's a good idea, which one do you think it's better? Why?

I own a NuWave and I love it. We cook most of our meals with it. I can cook frozen french fries or frozen cheddar peppers in the summer without heating up the house. I've even grilled steaks with mine. Just pull them from the freezer, spray some nonstick cooking spray on them, season with favorite spices, place on rack in NuWave, place on lid setter timer to cook and start preparing the rest of the meal. I allow 5 minutes and when the timer goes off I turn over and set timer again and back to the rest of the meal. I have made biscuits in mine and brownies, during the summer heat and not heated up my kitchen. I can't say anything about the Flavourwave because I don't have one but I would highly reccomend the NuWave. It comes with cooking instructions and recipe ideas. It even has a list of approx. cooking times for many different foods, some from frozen state. I've had mine for almost 2 years.

Mne was a gift from hubby for Christmas after I seen the infomercial and went nuts for it. He got me the round pan that can be bought with it. I have had 3 things at a time in it before.
Your welcome dear, I hope you will like it as much as we do.

Glad to meet another NuWave owner. I love the laminated sheet with all the cooking times. We have had to guess on a few things that weren't listed, but everything always turns out great. We have a heavy round nonstick steel-bottomed skillet we have been using to make some foods cook even faster. I put slower cooking items in the bottom and start them, with the empty skillet on top and then pop the steak in half-way through so that everything comes out at the same time. (Had to take the handle off that oven-proof skillet to make it fit, because we couldn't find any 10" casseroles that were as nice.
Learning how to use it to sear the steak was just a fortuitous accident :-)

I did a lot of research before deciding which of these ovens to buy and the NuWave is in my opinion the best. It is lightweight, easy to clean, easy to assemble, WHITE (which is very important to me!), and uses both infrared and convection to make perfect food. Some of the other brands have glass domes instead of the lightweight high impact plastic and some just use one heating method or the other, without both. Yet others do not have the timer and electronic digital display, which, by the way is something you have to watch out for if you try to shop price on the internet. We got ours from the manufacturers directly and were glad we did, because we think the newer panel is worth the difference.
Here is the first of several articles I have written to express my amazed satisfaction with this product:
http://www.drann.us/dranns_art/2008/05/nuwave-oven-as-seen-on-tv.html
We don't even have a big old range and ugly have-to-clean oven any more. This one does all that and more without heating up the kitchen. No defrosting, no preheating, no cleaning up afterwards. It is a miracle. I have an electronic multicooker, a small microwave, and a trendly single pan induction cooktop which stores away when not in use, and the NuWave, and I am happy as a clam with it. I don't know why anyone would want a stove when they can have this unless they have a huge family, and then in the same space, I would just get several of these instead of the stove anyway. We have two of them.

I was so thinking of you when I wrote this discussion :) I thought that if someone had this or had heard of it, it would be you.
From what I saw so far - and you are not proving it - I was also thinking that the nu wave might be the better choice, although I like the idea of the flavor wave that it can be use to serve at the table.
On top of that it does say in the new wave webpage that they are the original makers of the flavorwave as well.
If I buy it I will be buying from the nuwave website but it's kind of funny, yesterday when I was looking at the website I was able to get to a page where it showed 3 different ones - one which I assume is the older or the basic version. Analogue and only $99 then there was another one for $119 and another one for $149. But just now I went back to the site and couldn't find that anymore. Is it possible that they changed the page since yesterday? Plus that page had more detailed information on all of them and now there is nothing. Oh well.... I'll probably be getting it anyways.
Thanks for all the info :):):)

Yes, you know I like Thane products, but I do think the NuWave makes a better oven. If you look at the base that sits under each oven you will see one of the reasons I think the NuWave is better. Here is the Flavor Wave:

Here is the NuWave:

The NuWave base is more stable, easier to clean, and in my opinion safer. When you open the top to check something and then put it back down onto the base, although these ovens are cooler than a regular oven and do not heat up your kitchen, there will be a bit of hot steam coming out from all around the bottom of the dome, and the rack retains heat. The Nuwave dome fits right into the base without your having to carefully line it up each time you set it back down. If you pick it up too fast, with the Nuwave you would be able to very quickly put it back down without getting burned.
Probably they are both excellent ovens and would give similar results, but NuWave just seems to have all the important little details down. Also, I haven't checked this out yet, but have heard something about the Flavor wave has a light bulb that eventually has to be replaced? Hopefully if anyone here has one, they can enlighten us on that.
After replying here, I found this information in the NuWave FAQs where they compare the two:
* The Flavor Wave Deluxe is an imitation of the Nu-Wave Oven.
* Only the Nu-Wave Oven features the locking devise, which securely holds the dome, and the power head in place even when the oven gets hot this is an important safety feature.
* The Nu-Wave Oven uses a long lasting 1500 Watt sheath heater much like most conventional ovens; whereas, the Flavor Wave Deluxe uses 1220 watt halogen bulb similar to those found in household lamps and with the Flavor Wave halogen bulb if grease spatters it will most likely create smoke. Not to mention, the life span of this halogen bulb is short.
* The Nu-Wave Oven has a lightweight liner pan whereas the Flavor Wave deluxe has a heavy glass bottom pan that becomes hot after cooking.

Thanks for all the info. Also I just realized that I made a mistake when answering to your post .ON my third line I say "and you are not proving it" I meant to say "and you are now proving it " LOL There are some words that always seem to come out automatically when I"m writing. I actually meant to make a discussion regarding that LOL
In any case I have decided that the nuwave will be my next purchase. WIth a little bit of persuasion I will get hubby to agree to get rid of the big stove. I will still need one, but I will want a small apartment sized one, not the huge monsters for sale everywhere :)
Hugs

Thanks for starting this discussion. I am interested in getting a new oven. It sounds like great information has been posted. I haven't seen that infomercial.

Im sure this wont be any help at all to you but I was looking at these too and this topis has helped me decide. It sounds like the Nuwave is the way to go. Thank you for posting this and making it that much easier on the rest of us who are trying to decide which way to go.
