Why Do Some People Always Get Theirs Stars knocked Down & Others Not?

People get jealous and or like playing games cause they have nothing else to do so since they can (and I think mylot should change this) they will go through the persons activity and neg rate everything they did..I had it done to me when i was a 10..went to a 6 overnight..i know people rate me positive since they told me and its finally come back to a 9 but has been here for months now so i feel it will never go back anymore...

I think it's a mixture of all the reasons you listed. Some people are easily offended and will take it out on the 'offensive' poster by rating the post negative. And because some of us tend to be more passionate about certain topics we will post our opinions when it pops up. Naturally, the more often you post on a 'hot' issue topic, the more likely it is that you keep pissing off the same people and then some. You might even gain a stalker who will just rate any and every post of yours negative until they grow tired of it. And some people fall victim to the occasional troll, who could also turn into a stalker when he/she sees that what he/she did was successful in aggravating the victim... I don't care about the star rating. I don't think that you get more because your star rating is higher. However, if you rate other people, you get rewarded for your effort.

hi moonlitmagikchild yes I have been on the bad end months back,was knocked down from ten to a six inone night because I think smoking is unhealthy and I dislike being jawed at by Jehovahs witnesses who came to myh door and stayed so long talking to me that I went into lowblood sugar and almost passed out. these discussions got me so much mean insulting remarks that were flaming and against mylot rules, but mylot did not help much to stop the over minusing. it is just plain wrong a nd unkind, and malicious I did nothing wrong, I was respectful of everyone just told my own opinion, called nobody names, I did not deserve to be treated like that. now I have got back up to an 8 and there I will probably stay. I guess you are not to have an opinion here unless it is the same one as the minusers? I think the ratings by users is not really all that fair, perhaps mylot should do some changes here. we seem to have a lot of people very easily offended if everyone does not agree with them.

It's the trolls! I don't know why some people feel the need to bring others down, but they do, for no apparent reason.

I think yes, now I'm involved in a "hot" discussion about religion with some fantic islamic, and the don't like my agnostic position so that they push down my rate...but is not that important, more important is to bring up what I believe.. Nun

I've been mylotting and i think i'm doing a good job. I still have a "3" star even if i've responded to more than 30 discussion a day. I feel like someone's knocking my stars but it's ok. Will stars affect earnings?

I don't know the exact reason, but I think the sad truth is that some people on here for whatever reason are easy targets for other people on here who, for no good reason at all, have nothing better to do than to knock down other people's raitings. This happened to my husband, and his account was eliminated because of it.

Unfortunately, the maturity level of many mylotters is questionable. Also, very unfortunately, mylot has created an environment in which a group of friends can knock someone down. Anyone who posts and replies to controversial topics will never see a ten, especially if they are like me and will debate my point of view. Eeek, that's not grammatically correct, but you get my drift. The wolf packs who neg everyone who don't agree with them, are children inside. I don't sweat my star. If I am negged, I'm doing my job. I'm getting under their skin. Adults don't always act like adults. And, I have never negged anyone who is not cheating. Many of my friends who post in the same discussion that I do have the same MO.

I don't think it's that people are easily offended, I think it has more to do with going to controversial discussions. If you like debating the bigger issues, you really have to expect that people will disagree & rate you - for it.

I pissed someone off along the way! I was a 10 for over a year and almost overnight I went down to an 8 and have been there for several months now. I think someone follows me around negging all my responses. Can't say that it bothers me any and it hasn't affected how many people respond to me. Heck some of the most interesting people on myLot have stars under 5 so I don't really pay any attention to anyone else's rating either. I think it's a bogus system anyway, too easily abused. Frankly having a lower number is quite liberating. When I had my 10 I skipped a lot of the more controversial discussions or went out of my way to be tactful with all my responses. Now that I'm an 8 I ceased to care about the number I feel more free to indulge my blunt nature. People get offended around here? Naaaaaaaaa!

My star varies so much that I rarely ever even look at it anymore. I have seen it as low as 5 and as high as 10. I feel that if people don't agree with me then it is not a reason to give them a negative rating. I would only do that if someone was abusing the response. If the star has nothing to do with our earnings then why worry about it.

what i notice with mine is, my star usually goes up slowly and goes down rapidly but i still believe that no single person can significantly affect the star and rating, as the rating is a result of collective rates from many users. well, unless the person dedicated their time and energy to solely rate down certain other users. but i hope mylot notice that massively negative rates from the same ip address is something to be frowned on.

It has to do with the rate that everyone here gives to that person.. My rating was always ten, my post were always good answers or good comments.. but then I tried to post anything about anything in any discussion, and from that moment till now I seems that everyones rates my comments with - sign.. so, now is only 7 I think..

I haven't had a problem with anybody on here yet but i just joined last night too. I would think that if there were people being offended by other peoples opinions then they should just delete them and get on with their lives. I mean seriously people this is the internet and it will never affect how you live your life if someone disagrees with you online. I guess i haven't found out how to rank up on this website just yet and i guess i'm not really sure what you get when you rank up anyway? Do you get more money each discussion when you rank up? I guess i will find out here in the future.

I don't know. When they implemented the start I had a ton of posts already. I have been a nine since the beginning. I know i have offended a lot of people and pushed peoples buttons. I don't know if it is harder to knock my start down due to number of posts or people just don't bother with the negative rating.

well, people can be d*cks sometimes. i know one time i had my star rating pushed down. thats when they first started the whole star system. i think i went from a 9 to an 8. i don't know who did it. i like to take part in 'debatable' discussions every once in a while which as most know are not always friendly to everyone's views. some people just don't know what deserves a negative rating. honestly, things that are uncalled for like responds that don't even talk about the question or topic like some random sentence and thats it. i've seen those. also spam type response deserve a negative rating as well, i don't think submitting an honest opinion will call for that unless there are some major flaming and name calling to another member. its pretty much an honor system but don't worry too much about it though. it if you post then the star rating will eventually go up. i don't know if the rating does anything for the amount we get paid per post, but i don't pay attention to it anymore.

i am wondering too.i post and replied but my star is going down.i dont know what the hell is going on. maybe some are jelousy i guess.jelousy is the worst deseas.
