I defrag whenever I think about it, usually about every 4 - 6 weeks.

Do you find that this program uses much of the system's resources?

Yes i do defragment my computer regularly. earlier i had put this activity in the scheduler but it reduced the speed of data procesing on the computer. Now i put my computer on defrag only after i am free from my work and also set in the power saver. Normally i do this when i go to sleep and switch off the computer when i wake in the morning.

I check the fragmentation about once a month if it needs to be defraged then I will defrag the hard drive. If it doesn't then I dont. Why do un-necessary hard drive accesses when you don't have to or why mess with something when it isn't broke.

I only defrag my unit every month. It doesn't have lots of files and I only use it most when surfing.

I seldom defrag my com. Usually i defrag it when i felt the com a bit slow. Maybe thats already three months back. Do we really need to defrag the com all times? What i think is, if we do not transfer big files or frequently download files from internet, we do not need to defrag the com so frequent. You can analyze your HD before you defrag. This would save you sometimes before you actually run your disk defragment. We should do more scanning to check whether our com is free from error. You can run check disc in DOS by typing chkdsk command. If window got errors, it will fix it. Happy mylotting

No.. I use to do the defrag when newly buyed the system but now and not at all concentrating on defrag... actually I don't know the correct reason what is defrag... I heard that it makes the system more faster and makes the file to set in an order.

Defrag IS an important task to do maybe every week or so. It really speeds up my computer since I am a heavy user, I tend to install and uninstall, move alot of files, and just toy around with alot of files. That's the type of stuff that makes a real mess inside your harddrive since everything is... "fragged"? xD Sorry I dunno a better word for it. Anyways, yeah I definitely recommend everyone to do it, since it falls into the category of maintaining your computer =).

I as of now do not defrag my PC since it takes up alot of time, and i cannot do any other work on the PC whilst it is defragging.Oh yes but previously when i did not have any work to do on the PC i would defrag it once a week, just to CLEAN it up and free some space on my hard disk.I never actually know what takes up so much of my hard disk space so that is one reason also i would defrag.

One more useful tip is to keep all your working file on a different partition as to your system partition. This makes minimal changes to your partition and thus require less time to defrag.

Yes, I am a programmer and most of my time I spend coding and writing programs. What I had noticed is that I had very little time checking my hhd and usually I did not do any defrag task. My only problem was that I remember to defrag when my laptop ceased to function just because I ingore to defrag my hdd. Yes, for you guys out there, it is a must o defrag your hdd. Once a week is a good frequency. If you leave it up to a month, you may be frustrated on how slow it is to defrag.

Yes, i defrag my computer at twice a week because i tend to download a lot of stuff online then delete them. Over time, this can cause fragmentation when you download stuff and delete them, making your computer feel sluggish at times. Defragging does help speed things up when your computer feels sluggish or it is not quite up to speed.

I don't defrag these days, mainly because my free space is usually 10% (recommended at lesat 15% free if you wanna defrag) Yeah I really abuse my poor 80 GB and I just can't help it. I believe Vista users benefit from automatic defragmentation and isn't needed as much. Of course it's better to defrag then leave it idle. Good habit akubest.
