Ahhh...just when I thought I was done! LOL! Apparently, the car that Memphis won in the beginning of the season, was not even Big Brother's to give away. The owner still has the title and it was returned to the owner immediately after the show. And, it has even since been repainted. According to www.mortystv.com, the owner will turn over the keys to Big Brother for $24,000 but, Morty's site has not been able to get ahold of anyone with Big Brother for further answers. Someone else reported that Memphis did a test drive with the car but, decided that it isn't right for him and he took a cash reward instead. There is no amount disclosed but, depending on the value of that car, it is either really high given how much people are saying that car is actually worth, or the $24,000 that was reported as the amount the owner wants for the car. So, what do you all think about this? Memphis couldn't catch a break from some of the other houseguests because he won that car. Turns out, he didn't win the car after all. I hope he got a good amount for it. He as sort of misled in my opinion.

My friend sent me an email about that. I find part of it funny because that was one of April's big things all season long and now he doesn't have it. But, money is just as good, probably even better. It just gives her something else to complain about. LOL I just can't believe they would make such a blunder like that. And from what I was reading, that kind of car is worth way more than $24,000. Is the owner of the car an idiot?

I'm just going by what the little tidbit my friend sent me about the situation. It was talking about what the price range of the car is being sold for online and they're selling up to $80,000.

Reesers, I read that somewhere about the $80,000 too. And, Apey was the one who originally said that car is worth a potential of $50,000 because apparently she works on cars or something. I can't recall for sure how she knows that but, she said she knows cars and she knew that car was worth roughly $50,000. But, then again, she was trying to get people against Memphis by making them think he didn't deserve anything else out of BB so, she might have fudged the total to get people riled up.

thats nuts!! well he probably didnt want to pay taxes on it.. i know with game shows if you win like cars and other stuff they want you to pay taxes right away even though you won it.. i think memphis kind of got screwed all around.. especially with keesha but ah well.. i would have at least kept the car and resell it.. heck it being on big brother should raise the value lol..

It is a little nuts. LOL! But, even with a cash reward for the car's value, he will still have to pay taxes. I think anything bigger than $1,000, or is it $5,000...you have to pay taxes for it. And, that car is worth far more than $5,000 so, no matter what, he will have to pay taxes. Even the $50,000 and $500,000 prizes have to pay taxes so, they only get about half of the prize.

yeah i know that is why like when i watch deal or no deal i always think that they are winning like half because of taxes.. so i wanna scream at them every time they are like "oh 100,000 is so much money!" when the game is still looking good because its not like they are getting that!!

Well first of all, I don't remember the first episode but I could have sworn they said the car was worth MORE than 24k. I remember people saying it was like 50k. Often people tried to kick out memphis saying stuff like "he already has a $50,000 car, he doesn't need to win". Do you recall stuff like that? Anyway, I don't know about memphis, but I would rather have the money than the car :) CBS screwed up big time on this, but at least they gave him some compensation. However I wish I could rewind back to the start to see how much CBS had initially said the car was worth.

I don't recall if BB said anything about how much the cars were each worth. What I do remember is a conversation that April had with a couple other HGs where she was trying to convince them that Memphis should leave based solely on the fact that he already won a car worth about "$50,000" and she said something about the fact that she knows cars and how much they are worth because she either worked on them or finances them or something. I can't recall for sure how or why she knows the value of cars but, I do remember her having a conversation, and likely more than one, about the potential amount of that car. Now, whether I saw that on BBAD or on the actual CBS show, I can't recall that either. I just remember her ugly mug and the very beyotchy jealous tone of her voice as she laid it out.

Ok Star Reporter/Brain Twin, Thanks for the update! That's a pretty big mistake for such a big show to make! How the hell could they have not know that they didn't already own the stupid car? That's really wierd. I don't quite get it! Just doesn't quite make sense to me. But do I feel sorry for Memphis, no! He just won $50,000! Why should we feel sorry for him? He got some more money instead of the car. Why didn't they offer him the other car that was in the contest? Either way I'm just not having a pity party for Memphis in any way. To bad! Sorry!

Hey Brain Twin. I can't recall for sure but, I think that both the cars belonged to the same individual so, that is why they couldn't just give Memphis the other one. But, I could be wrong about that. And, you are not alone on your feeling for Memphis. LOL! I didn't dislike him but, he wasn't my favorite either. LOL!

LOL! Same here! I would have taken the cash too. I have no need for a classic car. I like my Honda Pilot. LOL!

Wow, that is something. I saw your name popup in my email and wondered what your topic would be. This is so perfect for you to give us BB fans an update. I am sure Memphis would want the money anyway. This way he can get whatever car he wants. He did sort of get screwed, and he took alot of heat because he did win the fancy car. He actually did real good in the game, he got alot of money and mostly coasted thru the game. I wonder how it all came about with the car, somebody screwed up.

Memphis sure did take a lot of heat for winning that car. Particularly from Apey. And, I agree that it is better for him to have gotten the cash for it instead of the car so he can get something, perhaps a little more practical too. LOL!

I know i get TMZ alerts and i saw that the day after the final i was wondering when we would see your report on it. I think its funny I mean why would BB do this if they didnt even own the car thats just silly. But we know Memphis will get somethig for the car if not the car. BB would be screweed if they didnt take care of it now.

LOL! Sorry it took me so long! I didn't see it on TMZ and only saw it on Morty's site when they reported it! LOL! I wonder how many people from BB got fired for that misstep? LOL! Someone dropped that ball big time!

I heard the same thing, but I also heard that BB was trying to buy the car back for him, but when Memphis went to test drive it at the owners house, he actually decided he didn't want it anymore, something to do with the gas gage? Not 100% sure, but I saw that on Morty's as well on the update. He has now settled for cash from BB for the car.

From what I read, he didn't like that it was such a gas guzzler and that is part of the reason he decided against taking it. I am glad that it was settled though. I would have been a bit ticked if I found out that BB gave me something that wasn't theirs to give. But, then again, I would have thrown that competition because I wouldn't have wanted the car, nor would I have wanted the target that prizes tend to put on an HGs back in that house by the rest of the jealous HGs.

As much as that car was nice i remember them talking about wanting the cash for it instead so actually he got what he wanted..now how much thats the question? I hadn't checked over there to see anything so this was a treat seeing your post!

I am glad to know it was a treat! LOL! I am missing my BB stuff! It was sad to see a Sunday go without some BB entertainment. LOL! I didn't recall him talking about getting the cash for it but, that is cool that he got what he wanted. And, I hope that he got a decent amount for it if for no other reason than the fact that BB really dropped that ball.

Hey Star, Poor Memphis. I hated the way he was treated by the other HG's. What a bunch of poor losers!! Memphis may not have had the brilliant strategic moves like Dan, but he played his part as directed and he worked hard to get there. He deserved the second prize and the car. It sounds to me that he hopefully was paid well for the car. BB certainly blew it with the car deals. I guess even Big Brother has to learn the hard way. xoxo leenie

Hey Leenie! I both do and do not feel bad for Memphis. He really did just coast through the game but, it was sort of his game plan and, I can't fault him for seeing his game plan through to the 2nd prize. And, as far as the car goes, someone was going to win that car. You don't go on BB not to win stuff so, I always get annoyed with the other HGs for holding it against someone for winning a prize while they are in the house. Ummmmm....hello! If you could have, you probably would have. LOL! Jealousy. That's all it is and they turn their jealousy into a need for revenge and that is ridiculous. LOL! I hope he got paid a good amount for it. Especially after he was pretty excited to get that car and then found out it couldn't be his. BB really needs to make sure they get everything under contract before they start giving stuff away that isn't theirs. LOL!

I agree! He won it fair and square so, the very least they should have done for him was to give him some monetary value for the car they wrongly gave to him. LOL!
