Do you like to receive knitting supplies as gifts?

Because everyone knows I like to knit, I sometimes receive knitting tools or yarn as gifts. This can range from useful things like double pointed needles that I don't already own to someone's yarn stash that they don't use anymore to novelty items like glow in the dark knitting needles. I enjoy these gifts for the most part. But my sister in law who knits doesn't really like to receive knitting stuff - she prefers to buy her own. How about you?

I love to knit, but I must say that I'd like to stop receiving knitting stuff for a little while! I've got needles out of my ears and I've got a huge pile of yarn. I'll be knitting for a loooong time before I need more. Of course, that does make shopping for me more difficult!

Yes, it's definitely easier to get gifts for people if you know they have a specific hobby.

i do not much care to recieve knitting supplies as gifts because i already have so much knitting stuff so chances are that whatever knitting supplies that i recieve as a gift i already have and also i am rather picky about my knitting supplies so i would rather just recieve the money as a gift so that i can go pick out the knitting supplies myself or if the person giving me the gift goes to the store with me and i pick out the gift then that would be alright also but over all i definitely prefer to buy my own knitting supplies

I never received knitting stuff as gifts but I'd love to! It's good to not spend so much money on yarn or knitting needles. But I won't ask anyone if I want to xD

I enjoy knitting and most of my friends and family know this, but they have not given me knitting supplies as gifts. It probably is better that way since I might not need what they would pick out.

I love gifts that are to help me do things. Sometimes people like weird colors or textures, to me, but I remember who gave me those textures and colors and try to give them back as a knitted hat or something. Most people are giving me colors and textures of what they would like to receive.

For past christmas gifts I have received Red Heart yarn from my parents when I started out crocheting and knitting. My aunt has gotten me things to use in knitting as she is a knitter herself like magazines and those cute little things to make knitting easier. So no, I wouldn't mind receiving supplies as a gift. At least I know they are paying attention to what I like and not just getting me stuff I would never wear and use lol.

I always love to receive supplies for knitting (or any of the other crafts that I do) as gifts. While I buy most of my own supplies, it is so nice to know that the people around me who are close to me care enough about my interests that they will go out and look for a gift that pertains to my interests! It isn't too often that I get gifts that I don't enjoy, but the ones I do receive that aren't something that I would enjoy I will thank the person and after a period of time I'll donate it to the Boy's and Girl's clubs. The only thing that bothers me is that since I make teddy bears people think that I will like all the teddy bear related knick nacks that are nothing but dust collectors. I keep getting these kind of gifts and again, after a period of time I will donate them to a thrift shop (one that has a donation box here but the stuff goes over a hundred miles away so that the item doesn't end up in my possession again. I have had that happen. I have a close friend that finds me these wonderful gifts at the local thrift shop, she'll buy them for me and I wouldn't hurt her for the world so I accept the gifts gracefully. I would re-donate them to the thrift shop and it wouldn't take two weeks and she would buy them for me again. I learned to switch donation boxes! LOL)
