I left my door open last night! When I went to empty the Garbage I notice I had left the door open. It kind of scared me, I thought to myself, what if someone had got into my house. I am telling you god was with me. Has this ever happened to you? I know it has one time or another. Have a good Eveing or a good Morning.

I actually did that just the other night. We, however, lock our door from the garage to the house so it is not that big of a deal. All the stuff we have in the garage is not worth that much so I guess we would not be considered prime pickins. :)

I usually don't forget that, I have a routine check I do of a few things before I go to bed. There have been a couple of times I fell asleep watching tv and woke up in the middle of the night with all the doors open. I'm lucky though, I have a big old German Shepherd for a pet, and if anybody even comes in the driveway, or onto the lawn, she barks like she's possessed lol. She's a good guard dog, so I feel pretty safe even on those rare times I've forgotten. Plus I live out in a real rural area, so there's not people walking around or anything like that. I think it's a lot different in an apartment though. Good thing nothing happened, I'm sure you *were* scared!

I never lock my doors, never have, never been broken into either, here it depends on the area that you live in, and mine has always been pretty safe.

I know that was scary to wake up and see that. You must live in a pretty decent neighborhood although these days crime can take place in any neighborhood. In the neighborhood we live in we have neighborhood watch and stuff like that so there have been times when I was rushing out the house and forgot to lock the door. I'd come home later that night to an empty home. I know the first time I did that I thought someone had been there. My husband went in first and scoped the house out before he told me to come in. I don't know what would have gone down if someone was in there though.

Welcome to Mylot, yes it happens, the other day someone got in this Mans house. His door was locked a robber came in and he shot the guy and killed him. They arrested the Man. but they said it was justifiable. So they let the Man go.

Oh my friend God is really with you. Thank God. Yes it happened to me. I don't know what's gotten in my mind that night, we have the same experience I forgot to lock the door of our house, it is just closed but not lock. When my older sister who always makes me awake whenever she is knocking very late at night, shocked that i forgot to lock it and got angry. What if someone had got inside. Thank God there is no bad happened.

I have not left my door open at night, I have left my door open at day and when there was nobody in the house, It happened to me some year ago, I don't know why I forgot to close the door and I left it open all the day while I was away when I came back I thought someone have entered in my home but there was nobody, and nothing got stole, I think I was really lucky that I didn't get things stole, I checked up all the house and I didn't find anything strange, when I cam going to bed I always double check all the doors so I will be sure I didn't forget to close and lock all the doors, I am not paranoid but I don't want to be in risk, you know that sometimes those people just don't stole, they kill the people inside the house, so I don't want to get surprises, and since I am living alone now I need to be sure nothing is wrong before to go to sleep.

How long was it open for? We are super careful about doors here because of our kids,so we are more likely to lock ourselves out than leave the door open (don't know which is worse now I think about it). You can never be too careful these days, which is sad. There are special auto door closer you can get these days to prevent this from happening, but there is a high risk of being locked out with them!

yeah there are times that our door screens in our sala or guest area is left open but bad things hasn't happened to us and that is a blessing i could say. good thing i live in a place wherein security guards raom around the streets of our village to see if we are safe in our houses or not. thank God too for giving us the protection when things happen to us. happy posting and happy mylotting!

well, such a situation has happened to me twice! in fact, during my third year in the university, which was last year; i was staying in hostel..the room was shared with 3 more girls with me.. one of those girls loved to do crazy stuff at night. she used to not only study at night, rather; she used to sing loudly when we are sleeping. the worse was when she scream all of a sudden!! so, once i woke up around 5 in the morning to start my day, and unfortunately i found the door of the house is open and wasn't just closed without a locker, but it was open !! it was such a shock to me! and the hostel actually doesn't have main door to be closed! we as roomates have to close the door of our own house, but that roomate never done it...luckily nothing happened..thank God..but it is such a scary..especially, everything we have it there including laptops, cell phones, valuable books, and etc... Smiley,

Hmmmm. I guess we live in one of those unique places but I seldom ever lock my door. If I'm going to be gone for a day or more I probably would but as a rule we don't. I have two boys that cannot seem to keep up with a key and I figure everyone in the school has a key or can get a copy of it so why bother. LOL Glad everything was alright for you!

Hi marciascott Well this actually happened to me the other night but it wasn't me that didn't lock the door it was my son. He had been out playing and later came home. I told him to lock the door behind he said yeah ok but was then quickly distracted by his younger brothers I think. I always check the doors are locked before going to bed at night but for some reason I thought, no, trust your son and didn't check it. I noticed in the morning. We live in a safe area so I didn't worry too much and told him that he forgot to do and left it at that.

I'll bet you really got that sinking gut feeling once you realized you had left your door open. That's how I feel when it happens to me. I think the worse feeling is when I can't find my keys the next morning and find them hanging in the door. That hasn't happened in a long time and hopefully it won't happen again.
