Organic food?

Am I the only one who really and I mean really doesn't care if the food I eat is organic or not?Of all the things you can die from, being well fed is one of the better ones. I would rather eat what I like and when and how much and live a shorter life than eat everything but that I like and "live" longer. I just did a survey where they asked me if I were willing to spend 20% more for organic food. My answer is no.But then again, I Never pay attention to what is suppose to be good for you, you know this week.I remember when they said eggs were bad and then they were good and then bad and now are they good? I haven't heard. That is when I said the hell with it. I Know I am going to die so I might as well eat what I want to eat.Remember the commericals about Polysorbate 80 being in ice cream? I remember wanting to go out and get a " I want my Polysorbate 80" t-shirt. Am I alone? Do you try to eat organic food?

I prefer locally grown organic veggies because they are ripened on the vine and have much more taste than the ones grown half a world away, picked before they ripen, and spend days in a plane, train or truck being transported, but being able to afford them is a totally different matter. If I could grow my own veggies I would. I do watch what I eat for the most part and try not to eat the stuff that has a lot of chemicals and additives in it. I can eat pretty well and avoid much of the stuff that isn't good for me and still have what I want within reason. As for going to die eventually, yes we are, but will we live til we die, or will we waste away and become an invalid or a vegetable and live in limbo for years (or worse yet, horrible pain), having to be waited on by others. I do believe that how we eat can effect how we live and how we die. As for being a health food freak, I'm not, but I do try to eat healthy.

I personally don't care whether or not I eat organic. There are other ways of eating healthy without spending a bunch of money. How I see it is my ancestors never ate organic and lived long lives, so why should I eat organic.

I assume your ancestore were eating organic , The difference was that They grew it themselves or they went to the farmers market.

When we have the money we buy all organic. I would rather not feed myself or my family all those pesticides. Even when we buy conventionally grown, we do only buy products that have nothing artificial in them, don't include high fructose corn syrup, etc. I am a hue label reader. I find that organic foods taste better and last longer than non-organic.

Isn't high fruitose corn syrup in soda? If so, I am your polar opposite, I love soda.Whatever works. For you, I hope the organics decrease in price real soon.

I eat what I want. I think organic food is an excuse to raise the price and sell things at a higher cost. Organic for me is food from our garden, I wouldn't buy any from the store. I love eggs, I love cheese, and I will continue to eat what I please and roll my eyes at the people who shop in the organic aisle.

I'm by no means a "health nut" but yes I do try to eat as much organic foods as possible. Who the heck wants to eat produce that has detrimental pesticide on them that can be cancer causing...or meats that have been pumped up with steroids and antibiotics? Not me. Bottom line I try to get as many foods that are not chock full of chemicals...say like cooking oils and. margarine...they have found that ANY of these products contain hydrogenated oils, like sunflower, soybean....don't ask the health risks one can get by them...did a whole article about this very thing..also hydrogenated oils can raise cholesterol readings...I've switched to good ole butter which is chemical free...just cream and salt...and olive oil for cooking.

Pump meat up with steroids , I don't care as long as it tastes good.I use margarine instead of butter.I don't eat vegetables and the only fruit I eat raw is banana. Raw apples make my tongue itch but if I bake them in a pie, they are okay.

I don't hunt up organic food in the organic section or specialty food store. But if I see a reasonably priced pack of organic lettuce sitting beside the normal lettuce, I'll buy it. The 20% price difference is actually small if you calculate it, so I don't mind paying more for healthier stuff. Unlike you, I'd rather eat food that is more expensive and less tasty in order to prolong my life. Ultimately, I believe that choosing organically grown food is the better choice.

It hit me that most of the food being grown organically is food I would never eat in the first place. I am glad you can and do eat organic food. Whatever works.

Organic food is nice, but going completely organic or completely healthy when it comes to food can also be bad thing as well. People who who too organic and too healthy end up losing a lot of weight very quickly to the point where they become nothing but skin and bones, and they end up looking a lot older than what they should look. There was a special about it on 20/20. It is okay to eat organic, but make sure that you have a balance in there.

I will not go out of my way, or pay high prices for organic food, but I do try to get food with as few preservatives, and as many natural ingredients as possible. When I lived in Sedona Arizona, we had a nice groccery store called New Frontiers that was just a few steps from the coffee shop, that I used to absolutely love!! Now I am back in Canada and I miss the place. New Frontiers was all organic, and their prices were good, so the food was easy to get, and I enjoyed it.

I think organic is great, it keeps you healthier and I would if I could, but I cannot afford it. Once your health is good everything is gone, I know I am now disabled. There are so many things I would have done differently when I was younger now that I am in the position that I am in today.

That is different, If you are in poor health and your doctor says you have to eat organic food or more healthy food, of course you have to. I have been very lucky. I don't have to change my diet.I am not so sure I would change it.

Rarely. I cant really afford to. Some foods that have a thick skin it doesnt really matter if they are oranic or not. It is probably better to try to get organic apples and lettuce and stuff like that if you can. meat without antibiotics is probably better for you as well. I dont have the cash to eat as well as I would like to.

You would think that organic food would be cheaper. It doesn't have any additives. It is naturally grown.

I really don't care either about whether my food is organic or not. It is possible to be healthy and eat healthy meals every day without spending so much more for your food to be organic. I'm not criticizing those who choose this food, because I think if you have the money to spend on it, enjoy eating it, and are happy with yourself because of it, then more power to ya! As long as a person eats generally healthy, exercises, they can also be bound to have a great long life.

I don't eat healthy food but I do get some exercise. I don't know how long I will live. Just as long as i can eat the food I like, I will be happy.

Your right everyone is going to die at some point in time in there life and when i die atleast i know i was happy with what i ate. Yeah i mgiht get fat off some of the things i eat but i'll worry about that when that road comes but for now im good i'll stick to eating what i like not what i dont like.

Definitely not! Honestly, I could care less if my food is organic because why is someone willing to pay double or triple the price for food that has been labeled "organic." From what I know, they have done many studies where 1. organic food has been sold with the label of being organic but it really wasn't organic and 2. the difference between organic food and regular food is so minimal that it makes no difference at all. I really do that it's another money grabbing scheme and it's sad that it works. No offense to all you organic lover's out there. Just my personal opinion :)

Nope...I am like you. I eat what I want. Yes I remember the big egg deal...how about the bacon one....you have to eat a ton of bacon everyday to get cancer from it...something like that. I think maybe some of that is just hype to get money into someone's pocket.....just think of what saying oatmeal does for cholestral has done of the cereal companies! I really don't think it makes much difference either...something's going to get you one way or another. From the day we are born that is our end destination....may as well enjoy the journey!

It's not that I don't care. It's just that the organic used to be more expensive. But these days the prices are comparable. But even the organic versus nonorganic cost about the same, I never really pay attention. I'm in my 60s. The organic craze caught on after I had already grown up. I figure ... Ah well! The food I've been eating all my life hasn't killed me yet!
