http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records/human_body/extreme_bodies/smallest_waist_on_a_living_person.aspx i cant imagine this being healthy.. wouldnt all of your internal organs get squished? sure every one would love a thinner waist but this just scares me.. although definitely better than removing a rib such as the rumor was.. http://www.snopes.com/photos/people/smallwaist.asp anyone here wear corsets? on a regular basis? is it harmful? long term that is..

I would never do this, just because it would be so uncomfortable. I can't imagine wanting to wear a corset in this day and age, unless you are very vain and very concerned with looking thin. I don't think it would be at all healthy either.

some are pretty they are coming out with but i dont see how it could be healthy either.. even if your organs move where are they moving to? and squishing?

can these women breathe? are their waists normally that small or they make it that way with the corset? that is scary if they make it that way. i have worn corset under dressy clothes but it isnt that tight. it is normal and fits my normal body. i dont think it is in anymore. that was the olden times. i guess it was the style back then to look like that.

yeah i know that the lady in the guiness book of records and dita von teese have made their waist microscopic by keeping it on tight 24/7 and i guess tightening it a little every once in awhile

I would think if you wore them super tight every day for year, you would be harmed by it. I understand why people use corsets, but I can't see wearing one every day - at least not a super tight one at least.

Yes, corsets do move your internal organs around, shifting them to allow for the new waist size. That's why there's "corset training" which involves cinching slightly more each time. That keeps your ribs from, say, breaking on the release and keeps organs from being suddenly moved which is exceedingly painful. I've been seeking a corset for years but none of them are small enough to fit me. Sigh. The most important benefit is posture - a good corset forces you to stand up straight and reduces the pressure on the back so if you have back pain, a corset will help (especially if it's not worn as a cincher but instead as a support garment).

That couldn't possibly be healthy. I think I read somewhere that corsets did a lot of damage to the internal organs. also corsets were the reasons women used to faint all the time. It had nothing to do with the fmeinine condition, it had to do with what they were forced to wear.

yeah i read that if you do wear a corset, dont wear it everyday because your spine will become dependent on it and then when you're not wearing one you are easily injured. you are supposed to do back strengthening excersizes if you wear corsets. corsets can be good though, they help with posture. i would LOVE to have one, the topic is still in consideration, but im leaning more towards getting a real one. i think i can manage to be responsible enough to take car of myself in one...i hope!
