I was this, or I wish I was that? Or I wish I could do that? I wish this would happen? etc etc. Funny how some days I notice words more than others, but I think I noticed that in every conversation that I had I kept saying "oh I wish". I notice the kids do it too, in fact, it seems like everyone says it. Do you say " I wish"? What was the last conversation that you used this in?

Hmm.. i feel that you are "addict" to the word I wish. But i have a experience from my school teacher. The words she likes to use is ok. The word ok is use to start and end for every statement. All student in the class notice that and what we did is we count the word silently daily. Feel that kind of bad, but kind of fun also. I still remember, per class around 40 mins session, she can easily mentioned the word OK more than 60 times, it really shock us. Just thought of sharing, no offense.

I don't say it too often but when I do I am being very serious. I wish I had lots of money so I didn't have to work. That is the last I wish I have said. But it doesn't work as I don't have a lot of money and I still have to work. hehehe I think when people say it, they don't really think it will happen. But there is no harm in wishing. If we didn't wish for things we wouldn't have anything to look forward to. We all need things to strive for in our lives to make it worth living. Can you imagine not wishing for anything. What would we have to strive for, to work for, if not for the things we wish for.

You are right, to wish is optimistic and allows us to dream, although I do try to be careful what I wish for!

Hello, Gemini_Rose. I hadn't notice the use of "I wish" in my daily speech. I believe I do not use it at all, only sometimes. Perhaps I will start noticing it now that you mention, but I don't remember using it consciently. It's funny, because we all want so many things... That's easily seen in the expression that you just mentioned. We want things to come to us with ease, we don't want to fight for it. We just wish that things would happen without us having to put effort into it, isn't it like that? Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Well, sometimes I'm also saying that "I wish it will happen" or "I wish I have those things like her" but not everyday.. As for me, most of my conversation usually with my friends it always start with a phrase of "You know what".. My friends always telling me that I'm always starting in all of the conversations that I think with that phrase above .. Example, "You know what my brother gave me a new present" or "You know what I saw your crush a while ago when I was in my classroom".. Something like this and I tried my best to changed it cause I know it isn't nice to hear in everytime.. But sometimes, I am not aware that I'm again telling those phrase.. As of now, I don't think that I'm still starting with that phrase when everytime I make some conversation since I don't talk all the time.. I'm just always in front of my computer in our office and doing mylot or my assign work..

Hello gemini_rose. Sometimes I use I wish...but I do not remember how many times I speak it a day. It is really interesting that we often use it. "Well, I wish that I could get a job with a higher salary!" This was what I said to my wife this evening. lol

I do not say so quite frequently. But ofcourse, I very frequently think like that. I think that it is quite human to have a desire. Whenever you something better you will wish that you should have the same thing. However, not always I wish that I had something that I did not have. I am a matured person and I know my limitations, so I never wish something beyond my rich and I never think that I should have something just because I do not have the same. It is not possible for everyone to get all one wants.

I have always used the wish word and when I was a child my grandma would say "if wishes were horses then beggars would ride" It never stopped me wishing though.

honestly? i stand steadfast in the "be careful what you wish for" warning as for some reason, i have a tendency to actually get exactly what i wish for.. and its hardly ever in the form or manner i was really wanting. same as most.. i have the few errant thoughts when i see some gorgeous female "i wish i had HER body" but for the most part.. i never voice the thoughts outloud. i think the last time i verbalized a wish.. my husband was stuck doing an install at his old job because the people responsible never showed up.. and he was going to miss our daughters first birthday party having to travel hours, do the job, and the travel back. about a half hour after the wishing.. the phone rang, it was mal: "whatd you do?" me "whatdya mean?" "the load it seems wasnt secured properly.. it fell off the truck all over the highway and was destroyed.. i cant do the install.. im on my way home" with a giggle i hung up the phone. he made it home with plenty of time to spare before the party.. and didnt miss a thing

Can you believe it, I forgotted that I had started this discussion. " I wish I had a better memory" hee hee. Seriously though, I know that saying well, I have had it quoted at me many times over the years, I have also used it myself many times. I have also told myself many times "be careful what you wish for mrs you may just come unstuck" What a cool thing to happen though for your daughters first birthday, I think that is brilliant.

I wish..what an interesting phrase lol ,I suppose there are times that all of us sometimes `wish` but the only thing is im a bit of a realist,a pragmatist.I tend to live in the here and now, where some love to live with their dreams. To be honest im not sure that its to good a habit to constantly live with reality, and it must be good to be able to escape to the land of wishes now and again.I cant think when I last said it myself, but im sure that I have indeed said it in the past!!

I think I am not too much vocal about these. But I must admit many times a day I think, "I wish.....". It is such that at times it really bad that I am not contended with life. so it happens like that.

Sure, I say it. But, I think it's more habit than anything. I'm pretty happy with my lot in life at this point. But, I'm always up for an adventure.

Yes, I use this too, especially the times when I want something too much and I know I cannot have it at the moment. The last time I used it was this afternoon, we are on the process of conceptualizing our business plan... everything sounds great.. the concepts, the strategies that we are using, everything is on the plan, only one thing missing to set it on the go... MONEY... and then I said... "I wish we have all the money we need to set this business real..."

Although I do wish for a lot of things and wish that a lot of things happened differently, I try not to let it get a hold of my thoughts, you can not change events of the past by wishing on them but you can change the future if you wish for something, the wish can be like a guiding light, like a hope to hold on to and even kick you into action to achieving what you wish for.

I figured out that I don't say it that often. I'm more of the "I want.." person. I want free pizza, I want ice cream, I want to finish my work as soon as possible. For "I wish"es... "I wish" I can lose 5 pounds overnight? Hahaha

Now that I am 47, I don't always wish for something. Although I still wish and wish that my son will have a good future and my writing will go fine. Our wish sometimes lead us to do our best so it's always good to wish and wish and wish. Wishing is really part of our life. Without our wish, we can never go anywhere. So....keep wishing....
