How do you spice up left overs so that they taste good?

Tonight, when I was warming up a plate
of left over chicken and rice for a snack, I decided
to spice things up and sprinkled shredded
cheddar cheese over top.
Real comfort food!
It was really delicious.
I wish I'd had salsa.
But, I only had taco sauce. Not the same thing.
Have you ever tried cheddar cheese in rice?
How do you spice up left overs so that
they taste good?

i always do that. spice up left overs for i dont like wasting food. i tried cheddar cheese on rice already for there are recipes i cook then i put cheese then we eat it with rice. my son is even weird that he eats the spagetti sauce not with pasta but with rice. when chicken is the left over i put cream and a little milk and top it woth cheese and eat it with rice.

I haven't tried cheddar cheese in rice, but i have taken nacho cheese dip and put a scoop of it in my leftover rice along with leftover taco meat and put it over nachos. I love cheese anyways, so anything with cheese on it is yummy.
Lots of times I have leftover spaghetti and meatballs. I will heat it up with a dab of butter and tons of sprinkled cheese on it. Again..back to the cheese.

That sounds awesome!
I'm going to try the nacho cheese dip idea.
I had not thought about doing
tacos the same way.
Though I do usually make my
tacos with rice in them.
Not sure why.
To me, they just taste better that way.

We think alike beauty. I often add either shredded cheese or salsa usually. If I have sour cream I will use that, sometimes mixed with salsa... depending on the dish.

Sour cream covers a multitude of evils,
especially in day old food!

If the meal tasted good the first time, it shouldn't need any spicing up for the second go 'round. All I would do is warm it up and eat!

I love variety.
No sense in eating the same thing twice.

Yes, I have a couple of times, and it does taste really good! I love the rice that they make in the box in the frozen section, by Marie's Calendar... This is very yummy! Have you ever tried this kind?? It is white rice and Brocolli with cheese already made in it..

Lots and lots of BBQ sauce! I just love the stuff and I think that it goes with anything. I have never tried cheddar cheese in rice but I will take your word for it that it actually works! Generally though, I don't have left overs being that I'm a single chap and I cook for myself. Still, the very thought of what you can do with food makes me hungry! Andrew

I love cheese on just about anything. Never tried it with rice, but I might like it. Maybe I'll talk my husband into making rice with cheese sauce one day. I've never tried that either, but I bet it would be really really good. He makes a really good cheese sauce with Danish cheese.

I don't eat leftovers very often. Usually I pack them for my husband to take to work. I usually don't add anything different either. So he eats it the same way I cooked it.
We do add cheese to rice sometimes, though. One of my favorite casseroles has rice, chicken and cheese all in it.

Hello beauty queen. Yeah, some of the left-overs tastes better when spiced up. Sometimes I add some spice pepper in my rice and cook it in the wok and I love the spicy taste. It does taste good.

Often, I use red pepper flakes
and then it's too hot, but so delicious!

i think it really depends on what type of food are your leftovers. sometimes mixing foods can tastes better but can taste worst too. cheese is a very good spice for left overs, i have tried it many times too. the leftover even tastes better, especially topping it on rice and baking it in the oven.

When cooking the rice... add a can of Campbell's cheddar cheese soup. Then sprinkle the shredded cheddar over the top. Gives it an extra oomph of flavor. I actually make a casserole dish of chicken and rice made like this.
I rarely need to spice up left overs now though.

i do try to spice up my foods. not only left over foods but all foods that i have or recently bought outside which i think not delicious enough. anyways, with left over foods. i don't usually spice it up. but i do sometimes like i try to add more seasoning. whatever comes to my mind in that particular time. i usually try to imagine what food will match up the oeft over food. and what will be the great combination food for that left over food. but mostly i just throw away those left over food if i think that i can't try to make the oeft over food delicious what ever i do with it.

I often use leftovers in my cooking. There are all sorts of things to do with leftovers.
Leftover rice is a great addition to soup, is good as rice pudding or is a great base for stir-fried veggies.
Leftover pasta is great in soup, used as pasta salad or tossed into the skillet with some other ingredients to make a "skillet meal" type deal.
Leftover chicken can get stir-fried with veggies, used in tacos or added into soup or stew.
The possibilities are great!

I love to add extra vegetables, or fat free sour cream. Cheese is very nice, or a queso sauce if I have it. I will put gravy, or mushroom soup on things as well. Salsa is good.I would have used the taco sauce, too. I do not think I am ever without salsa.
