Yesterday I went to Dollar General. Now I know I’m 40 this year and I’m not a teeny bopper or in my 20’s anymore or even in my 30’s anymore but I don’t think I look old. I’ve been told that most ppl think I’m around 34 or 35. So, I’m checking out at Dollar General and the cashier (a mature woman in her 50’s), is looking at my check. I pointed out my social security number and phone number and rattle off my birthday 6-16-68. She starts to write it down and then stops and looks at me and, I swear to God, said……. Is that 1968?!!!!!! OMG, I was struck stupid by this question…I said something like Well, Yeah (Duh), the woman behind me was laughing so hard she started choking and I’m just standing there thinking DO I LOOK 140 YEARS OLD TODAY????? I should have told her no it’s 1668 and I look d*mn good for my age!! Have you ever had anyone ask you a “Here’s your sign” question? What would you have said to something like this? Should someone like this be working, handling money or even allowed out alone without a keeper? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Oh my lord LOL. Maybe the lady was just having a brain fart or making conversation with you LOL. I would have been so embarrassed to ask someone a question like that. That made her look so dumb LOL.

Some people today seem very stupid. It's not that they actually ARE stupid, but our society has been so dumbed-down and numbed by tv and movies that they've forgotten how to think and reason.

Maybe she thought you were a time-traveler from the future?

Oh how funny. That person does not need to be in the working force or at least not working with the public. When she questioned the date you could have told her that you made a mistake, that should have been 1978. hahahaha

Maybe the cashier was not thinking and overwhelmed at the time..I am sure she probably releaized later what she said and is now embarrassed..I haven't had anyone think I was older, in fact I have been told like yourself that I looked much younger than I am..

Did she think you looked older or younger? I was talking to a woman who told me she was 62 yesterday and I had thought she was 4 years younger than me like 45. So I couldn't believe it. Maybe she just couldn't believe it because you looked so young. Cash in on it, have them guess your age at the fair! Take care.

That's too funny lol. Maybe she needs her medication adjusted hahaha. Clearly she just wasn't thinking at all! I think there's more clueless check-out people everywhere you go anymore. I've had dumb things kinda like that happen too. ( I call them 'duh' moments) I always have to flash my driver's license to prove I'm a senior citizen and get the discount. (Geez, like the grey hair, tri-focals, cane and wrinkles aren't a giant clue!) Then at a fast-food drive up, I gave this lady exact change for my order and she had to call the manager over (duh...exact change?!) I noticed the last couple of times I went there she isn't working there anymore. Then there was the lady around her 60's at the checkout at RiteAid pharmacy. I decided to try and color the grey out of my hair once, and it turned it a little on the green side. Once I got that corrected, the next time I went I bought the same brand by accident. My daughter said Mom, that's the one that turned your hair green, take it back! So, receipt in hand, I took it back. At the counter this gal wanted to know why I was bringing it back (unopened and untouched yet!) I explained...then over the loud speaker she says 'I need a manager up at register 2 for a woman returning a product that turned her hair green...) Sheesh! (She no longer worked there after that, and the manager apologized and kept glaring at her)

lol oh twoey. . maybe she thought she was mistaken by the 68 part ? maybe she was makign sure she heard right because your ageless aura caused her to not believe that you were really 40 years old!! maybe she had thought you made a mistake and ment to say 88! That of course would make you younger then myself. . by 8 years. and now i'm starting to get a little jealous. . lol Merry xmas hun ;)

i'm a year younger than you,and i get this sometimes, but i've noticed it's only from the very young cashiers.i think they're being smartmouthed,it's not stupidity. what i love is the ones who ask if you want a bag when you have a whole bunch of little items.no thanks,i thought i'd juggle them home.

Maybe she was thinking about what she was doing in 1968. Ya never know. She might have been suddenly transformed back to a time when she was getting high...

To be very honest If I had been asked the question this person I had been asked I would have been a bit mad too. No one thinks I look my age and believe it or not I will be 39 tommorrow so like this person who was offended it I had been asked this in the mood I am in latly I think I might have told the woman off worse that the woman was told off. Some times depending on your mood of whats going on in your life at the time things can set you off without warning.

twoey, Get a grip Girl! Maybe she needs glasses. We've all been there. The last time I was carded was when I was 35. Now this person probably needed glasses but like you I was always told I looked younger than my age. But get this. You thought your story was bad. Ok, I was in the hospital just after having open heart surgery to replace my Mitral Valve. As if that wasn't bad enough, I was still blown up from the air or whatever they use to make room for the procedure. My brother had brought chocolates and I was giving them out to the staff. Before I go on, my twin is the kind of person that goes nowhere without full makeup perfect hair and just the right outfit to catch all eyes. Well when she went into the hall a couple of candy stripers asked her if her Mother(me) would give them more candy. Of course my twin being the most sensitive person in the world(not) Couldn't wait to race back into my romm to tell me and whoever else was there all about it. Even now as I tell the story, I still can't laugh about it. It would be funny but my twin still does these thoughtless things to me. I guess the point is that there are thoughtless people everywhere. Don't let these people take away your self pride. What do they know? You know you look good. I have no doubt even though I have never seen you.hugs leenie

Aww that's mean! Well, I'm sure the woman wasn't sure, perhaps she was thinking of a younger age. Since my brother can be rude it's no surprise that your sister is rude to you . Have a nice day! Pablo

You remind me of my friend. We chatted last night and her birtjday is coming this week. She will be turning 40 also. She told me she is getting old.I said, she's not.We both on cam so i could see her.She seemed to be worried about turning 40.Should we be thankful that we reach at this age?Anyway, she was worried of her look because she said she looks old now.I am getting old too but alot said i look younger than my age.I just don't think of my age and i try to feel young so that i look young.

Maybe she was asking because she thought she heard you wrong... she was thinking that can't possibly be right, since that women looks so young and ravishing. Might as well give her the benefit of the doubt. There aren't many people out there who are that clueless, it wasn't Sarah Palin was it? Just kidding of course... we all love that adorable little beauty queen.... err I better stop while I'm ahead. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I would be laughing too. I agree with you that some people should not be allowed out without a keeper. It's almost 2010 now, and you'd think people know where the 19s belong, and where the 20s belong. Geez!! Some people...

Don't worry - you still look young and beautiful just like me. haha The poor girl was just having 'one of those senior moments' or just maybe she was 'one brick short of a load' as shrinks say when they get all technical.

Some people shouldn't get out of bed in the morning and it sounds like she was one of those who shouldn't. If that had been me I have a tendency to get somewhat sardastic and would have said no it's 2068 don't I look good for my age. I traveled back in time. Some people don't think before they speak and she sounds like one of those kind of people.

LOL....I deal with people all the time that drive me up the wall with their questions, answers, responses and behavior. At this point in my life, I am very direct.
