How much time do you spend watching the TV?

Philippines
October 6, 2008 9:23am CST
We turn on our TV at 5:30am for the morning news. We bring our daughter to school but we have a TV in the car. As soon as we get back home, the TV in the room will be turned on again. As I go around the house, the Tv is on,either on HBO,Lifestyle,AXN,CNN,NatGeo,Discovery or the local channels. I work at 4pm.Mean while,as long as my husband is in the car, his TV is on. When the kids arrive, they turn on the TV in the living room. We are I think TV addicts now.LOL How about you?

hmm, we rarely watched nowadays actually, we only turn the TV on when we are watching news, interesting movies in the cable channels like HBO, star movies and cinemax, or if there are programs that we would like to watch and kinda anticipating it. But other than that, we didn't watch TV that often. Most often than not, me, my siblings or father are in front of our computer while my mother is reading some books.

Yeah, I agree, nowadays movie channels like HBO keep repeating their movie programs that it was quite tiring and boring to watch, that's one of the reasons on why we rarely watched TV these days. My mother was onto romance novels, she sometimes read some classic as well like Jane Austen's works but she like romance novels more.

Yeah-I agree with the word "anticipating" you used...HBO,star movies and cinemax repeat and repeat movies. Im glad sky cable provides movie sked. What does your mom read? I am now reading books by Paulo Coehlo and I am rereading Ernest Hemmingway's works.tnx for sharing.

I guess your family is the epitomy of the tv addict. I'm not near that bad. I leave the tv off in the mornings while I do my surveys. I will turn it on in time to watch Ellen. I set my shows to record while I'm at work. I will watch those shows when I get home. Usually I'm watching those shows when I go to sleep. My husband ends up turning off the tv. That's my tv viewing pleasure.

I am not used in watching tv at home. I am more into internet and mostly I spend my time here in mylot and any other paid forums. I also maintain my blog everyday and I used to update it also daily. If ever I had a chance to watch tv it would be very seldom and it takes only a few minutes.

tnx arp...oh we are very close. ours is a very close knit family. We talk a lot, with still the tv on. we travel a lot, with still the tv on.LOL, maybe,we just got used to it. We read the papers too. 3 kinds of them, with the tv on. LOL. I read a lot of books. with the tv on. I teach children with reading difficulties. I do intervention so it will not lead to reading and learning disabilities. I teach after the kids are done in school. So I start around 4pm. I have 2 masters degree, when I study,I study with the tv on.LOL...no prob-I still get an A.LOL My husband has to travel a lot because of his work. By land or by plane. So we get to travel a lot too. When he is home, he is in bed by 8pm, with the tv on.LOL. My son is 16 and 6'2" tall. He is very active in school and I am very visible in his school. He is with the Pualinian nuns. My 17 year old daughter is in her 1st year in college taking up pre-school ed. She is with the Jesuit priests. My children were never left alone on their own at home. Even at their age now, if I am not around,my husband should be with them and the other way around. The 2 kids still sleep in our room. they have their own rooms with their own tv's,but they bring their matresses to our room every night. We talk, study and laugh with the tv on.LOL. The maid brings back the matresses back every morning to their rooms.the maid has her own tv too.LOL Happy watching.

Wow, that's alot of tv watching. We don't turn the tv on until about 8am and it is usually on Nick for the kids to watch. I run a daycare, so the tv is on the majority of the day, but the kids aren't watching it, they just sing along to the songs and if I turn it off they notice immediately. In the evening, the tv usually goes on around 7 and off at 11. We watch it on and off while doing things around the house. I think that most of the time it is on for the noise. From 9-11 I do watch it.

My husband and I do love to watch TV. If I'm home and not working, the TV is usually on. I turn on the tv in the mornings when I am getting ready for work so I can hear the news and see Good Morning America. In the evenings, we have the TV on from at least 5 or so until 11 p.m. On the weekends, we turn it on on Saturday afternoon and it's on until 11 p.m., unless we leave. Sunday, it's on from about 9 a.m. on, unless we leave. Wow, guess we are tv junkies also. But then, I always knew that.

I don't watch much TV at all these days. I have too many other interests or things to do and watching television would just slow me down, unless I'm knitting or something like that. Then, I'm not so much WATCHING TV as LISTENING to it. There really isn't that much on TV that I'm very interested in. But, when my husband is home, the TV is ALWAYS on! He can't function without it being on, even if he's not watching it! He thinks he needs it on to get to sleep at night, then it ends up waking ME up while he's sawing wood! Grrrr! I don't get it. Maybe he needs the noise. I prefer quiet, myself. I love listening to nature or listening to nothing at all. Maybe it's because my entire life has been so hectic that I like the quiet.

Knitting is SO relaxing! I've been knitting since I was around 16 years old. A neighbor taught me how. I kind of do it a little bit backwards, though, because I'm left-handed and the neighbor who taught me was right-handed. I just hold the loose yarn in the wrong hand, but it works for me! LOL If you can find someone who knits, that's the best way to learn... from someone else. If not, there are lots of websites that teach you how to knit, if you really want to learn. Just type in 'learn to knit' in your search box. It's great fun. Very rewarding and relaxing. When I have the time, I knit newborn baby caps for hospitals. I especially like knitting caps for the preemies. One year, I knitted everyone a sweater for Christmas. They loved them! I highly recommend learning how to do it. Good luck!

I turn on the TV in the morning during the breakfast. Then during the week I do not have much time to watch TV. But when I return home I usually turn on the TV and mostly get annoyed because there is mostly nothing interesting there, despite of that I continue switching TV channels. Then I give up and go to bad.:) During the weekend I usually watch quite lot when I have nothing else to do. But I do not prefer TV before my social life. I would never stay home to watch anything in the TV if there is a party or a meeting with my friends.

I just have one TV in my house except for my daughter's TV. My TV is one from the time I get up til I go to bed. I watch my daytime soaps but a lot of the time it's on more for background noise. I do have shows that I do not miss no matter what! If I have to miss a show, I will record it. I have to watch Chuck, House, NCIS, The Mentalist, Heros, and American Idol when it comes back on. I always watch my soaps which I have no idea why since they make me mad and really are kind of stupid. But hey, what can you do?

Its on and off all the time. I wake up at 5am, finish a lot of work, then switch on at 6.30am for about half an hour for a religious programe (Jesus Calls Ministry). Then again I finish up the rest of the work. For the rest of the mornings, its goes on and off at intervals, depending on the programme. Its on the complete noon, as it helps us to nap. Then again late evening.

tnx for sharing rob. I like to watch boy and kris or just actually listen because I go around the house with the chores. Then,I like to sit down and answer questions in game ka na ba.then, usually my husband arrives home for lunch and we fight for wowowee and ER. I could only watch ER replays at noon time because I am working on its regular time, that would be around 6 or 7pm. my husband likes wowowee,so I always end up with wowowee.then im off to work. When my husband fetch me at 8pm,we watch betty la fea in the car. I like the show.I usually hate soaps, but I like Betty, also Dyosa because the shows make me laugh.I hate dramas. But nothing could beat Joaquin Bordado. It was so irritating. The kids too tend to watch only HBO,disney channel,Natgeo, discovery. Im glad really of their choices.Have a nice day.
