This is a photo of my son, Nate, with his new neice Savanna. This is my granddaughter. The whole family was over this weekend except the 2 grandsons. It was their fathers weekend for visiting so they were gone. My son was afraid to hold Savanna at first. That was until my wife prodded him into holding her. He waqnted to wait till she was bigger. Seems he is afraid to hold tiny little babies. Do you have adults you know that are afraid to hold tiny newboprn babies? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have known a few in my life time. I guess since they are so big and the infant seems so fragile it is understandable. I have a nephew that had a baby a year and a half ago. One of my nephews was afraid to hold her in the hospital but my sister did the same thing....then he didn't want to share! LOL

Bummer. I love them when they are small like this though. Less weight and less moving around actually. Once they walk then they get heavy to hold and sit on my lap. Hahahahaha! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Aww what a sweet picture of those two. :) My ex husband was afraid to hold my firstborn when he was a baby. He was worried about breaking his neck or dropping him. They are so fragile at that age awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Yes, my son was the same way with my grandson but he finally held him. He would rather wait until they are bigger and older but he did real good of course he wanted to sit down while holding him.

My FIL..He wouldn't go near my children and because my kids were not as outgoing as his other granddaughter, he choose her a favorite..Of course their relationship has soured since. And he never did get to know my kids, that is too bad too, he is missing out on some great kids...(Not that I am bragging or anything. )

Awww that's a shame really. Everyone in my family is the very outgoping type. The wife, not as much as the rewst though. It's a shame some people play favorites when it comes to kids. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

He looks like he isn't quite sure what to make of her. Most men don't like to hold tiny babies my husband wanted to wait until our oldest was walking before he held him. He thought he would be big enough that he couldn't drop him or hold him to tight. I assure you that plan lasted only long enough for me to find out about it.

My Dad was like that, he loved babies and my oldest son (the one my husband was terrified of) inherited that from us.

hi minni and bob I still think Nate did okay once he saw little Savanna wasnt going to break as he seems to be smiling nice and big. I never could get over my grumpy dad when he first held my baby son,boy was he proud, and he went around town telling everyone this is my grandson.he was grinning like the proverbial cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland.

You are talking to the person who if she didn't have bad luck she'd have no luck. It'd be just my luck that I'd drop the baby - or it'd do one of those things babies do and then I'd have to throw up too.

Hi Grandpa Bob ~ No, I do not know any adults that are afraid to hold newborn babies. However when I was a teenager I was afraid to hold my friends newborn daughter. But my friend somehow convinced me to hold her baby. Though I made sure to sit down first as I didn't want to drop her! And of course, I didn't. Though I still felt nervous holding such a small baby. Once I became a mom the fear melted away. Sweet picture, by the way.

Mmm... I guess I would be afraid to hold little Savannah too. That's because little babies are so delicate, and somehow I am afraid if I hold them something might get crushed. I know I am being stupid, but I am truly afraid of hurting them. When I visited one of my friends in hospital, the nurse taught me how to hold a newborn. The technique was just great, and for the first time in my life, I could actually feel that little life against me. It was a great feeling. I bet right now I am confident enough to hold a baby provided an experienced person is nearby. :) Cheers and give my love to little Savannah.

Babies are the best gifts of all in life. You will cherish every moment you have as they grow up. I am glad he was able to get over the fear. I am also sure that it was out of respect for the baby. I am so happy, once again for your new member of the family. Take care.

I can understand how Nate felt, GB. Until we had our first child, I'd never held a baby before in my life, and it was a bit scary at first. I was far too worried to walk around holding her until I got used to it. Luckily for us, babies are very resilient, and if we're a bit klutzy at first it doesn't seem to have any lasting effect!

Hey Grandpa Bob! That is a great picture of Nate and his beautiful neice Savanna! They look just great together! He looks like a pro holding her. What a beautiful family you have. Nate and Minnie definitely look like brother and sister. I'm sure you had a great time with the family this weekend. I know that you enjoyed seeing Savanna!

The baby and Nate are looking good , when i was a kid i want to hold the babies on my own , but no body dare to give me , when i sit down they place the baby on my lap , and the baby will be fitting my lap lol.. now a days i carry them , as a girl i know how to carry a baby , i hold new born babies in the presence of my mom or my grandma , my elder sister gave birth to a baby few months back i was with the baby sitting next to her , oh lovely it was , the baby was so delicate , it was boy and he was just like his dad , i was a bit scared though but then i held him safely in my hands :) usually guys never know to handle babies there is nothing to wonder same way your son was a bit scared to hold the baby i suppose

Most ppl react that way when it comes to newborns. I think it's b/c their so small, helpless and fragile...it makes them nervous. Usually after holding them a time or two, they get past it. ~~IN SEARCH OF PEACE WITHIN~~ **AGAINST THE STORMS, I WILL STAND STRONG**

Hello Grandpa Bob. Yeah, usually when one is not used to holding a new-born baby, he is afraid to hold it due to their lack of experience. It was the same with me when I first held my son. hehe.

My dad won't hold babies that are little and new. He usually will wait until they can sit up on their own. Says before that hes scared to break them or that they might get hurt if he doesn't support their heads. aFter that he hold them all the time and babies love him.
