my tony is home!!!

We found Tony was hiding out under a trailer a couple doors down. I crawled under the trailer and caught him but he didn't like the way I had him and took off. I stayed in place to chase him towards the other way in at the front of the trailer. Louise was there with a plate of food to lure him out and caught him once he was clear. He is happily eating some food in the kitchen now. Thank you for your prayers, and suggestions.

You 2 might want to gang up on him. One of you leave & while you're gone, the other takes a mouse trap, set it & lay it on the floor bottom side up. Lay a sheet of newspaper over it. Then when he goes to the door, he will set off the trap. It makes a loud snapping noise from under the newspaper & the newspaper helps keep it from snapping him!!! This tends to make cats wary of where they hear that noise, especially if you do it several times close together, he will become especially wary of the door. I've never had a cat hurt by the trap as it is snapping into the floor & the newspaper keeps the inquisitive little fella from accidentally getting his nose snapped!!!

I can tell he's glad to be home but, he seems less afraid of the big room he's hot aloud into. Louise and I chase him from the door a lot when we are coming and going.

LadyMarissa, that's BRILLIANT! Did you come up with that idea? Kudos to whomever did! My "Minnie" is ALWAYS making a break for it, & that might be just the th9ng to keep her inside & safe from the dogs / kids / cars / groundskeepers at this complex. Thanks for the tip! Maggiepie

I just replied to your wife's post about Tony. I am sure he appreciates you getting him out of there, even if he did not act like it at the time. Glad to hear he is home.

thanks, I really missed him. Having him run by the porch regularly without coming to me was beginning to make me nuts.

I know you just have to be absolutely elated that Tony is back in your house. Was happy to hear this story ended so well. We have a cat and I would be totally devistated if she got outside. She's never been out there except to go to the vet in a cage. She's been declawed and would have a horrible time surviving. The weather is now very cool at night and she would be miserable.

tony ws out during a cold snap with tempsin the low 30's. I hate to think how hard he would have been to get back if he headed out more recently as the evening lows only dipped to the 50's

He's a funny little boy. He doesn't jump very well, want you to pick him up rather than jump in laps. He also doesn't like cold, since he was discovered after spending a VERY cold night outside - well - a very cold night for TEXAS anyway.

He looks a bit like our "Gizmo". Actually tony was adopted when he was about the size of your kitty. Years before I came along Louise' friends son rescued him from some boys who were abusing him and nursed him back to health in the shed out back feeding him scraps of bologna. That's why we call him "Tony Bolony". He was already around 13 years old when I met him so after 6 years of marriage to his "mommy" I think he's a bit old to be going from lifelong house cat to neighborhood wanderer.

Tony's settled back in quite nicely. Now that I fanally dug my computer desk out and got the Computer up and running he spends most of his time on top of the bookshelf portion while I am on the keyboard. He's always been my Jr Computer tech. If he can't get on the desk I have to get a chair for him beside me or I'll be dealing with him on my lap. He starts wuite interested in what I'm doing but after 15-20 minutes he's content to curl up and nap beside me while i'm working.

Congratulations! Makes you want to get him a collar with a 2 Lb address tag on it. That way if he sneaks out again, he won't go so far, will be brought home if some one finds him and will be easier to catch too...heehee

At his age it might just keep him tied up in one room.

WOOHOO!! What MYKLJ said!! I know what it's like for a cat to vanish. I'm very happy for you. It sounds like Tony kind of liked his little adventure. You might have to keep an eye on him now.

When my B-I-L lost his cat we all prayed for him for months until Ozzie returned. When tony came back my sister was one of my first calls because I knew she would do the same. Thank you all for your prayers and concern. I know it helped make the difference. PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Hi! I'm putting in a request for friendship with you. Anyone who loves kitties the way YOU obviously do, & also loves President Reagan, is my kind of person, so please say yes! Elic told me about you. I came, I read, & was conquered by your saying "thank you for your prayers." Eastern Orthodox Catholics, who pray for animals, to which faith I belong, always makes me wonder why some people think animals are not worth being concerned about. Thank YOU for your love of cats! Yours, Maggiepie

Thanks, Carl. Couldn't have said it better myself. I DO love animals, but you;re right; they're not on the same level as humans. The Bible does say there'll BE animals in Heaven, however, & I'm looking forward to that! :o) Thanks for accepting my friendship! Maggiepie

God gave us dominion over the animals. Caring for them seems a natural outgrowth of that. I hardly agree with those who would consider them equal with people but it takes a cold heart to treat them like trash and I've know a few who would.

That is wonderful news. I am so happy to hear that you got him home safely. It is so upsetting when a pet wanders off. You never know what to expect and you worry about them until they are home safe and sound.

that's one thing I like about dogs. They're rarely gone for long and you get used to them wandering. With a cat they might just be hiding a few feet away but you don't know where or when they'll get back. My sister's cat's are less of a problem since they live in the house and play outside regularly. As long as they don't wander of while they're traveling no one worries. they'll be back before long and you use less cat litter. With my house cats it's a lot more questionable. They're lost int that big room I don't normally let them go into.
