Do you like liver?
Most people can't stand it, but I am a huge fan if it's cooked properly. If its over cooked its like eating shoe leather, but not as flavorful, undercooked is just outright wrong. I like nothing more than to find a restaurant that actually knows how to prepare a good plate of liver and onions, but its rare to find one, and I have no idea how to do it properly myself.
My mother once told me a story about her husband (my stepdad) making liver, basically in the preparation he grabed the icing sugar instead of the flour and coated the liver with icing sugar. I guess it didn't taste too good but they both ate it not knowing what is wrong until much later when cleaning up my mom noticed the icing sugar was out and asked him why and he had a look of horror on his face and she realized what happened.

Ha, I like liver taste. Especially the chicken liver and the pig's liver. For chichekn liver, I cook chicken soups and eat the liver with the soup. For pig liver, I cook it with soy bean.

Well, it definately has to be cooked right, but I used to Love from time to time having Liver and Onions back when my Mom was alive and lived close to me. I even remember asking her to cook it for me from time to time as well. It is a Great source of Iron as well. I have not actually had liver in a long time now, but every once in a while wish I knew somewhere to get some. That can be Good eating for sure.

I didn't used to like liver as a child, but now that I am an adult, I really like it. A nice big plate of liver and onions with gravy and mashed potatoes is absolutely wonderful. When I find restaurants that serve that, it's what I want to order. I just don't know of a lot of restauratns around here that serve liver and onions.

Yummy icing sugar liver. Reminds me of the time my uncle had a can of beef stew for dinner and when my aunt asked where he got it and he said the kitchen cupboard she laughed until she was blue in the face as the only stew in the cupboard was dog food! To answer your question though, no I don't like it. I think it is because it looks so gross raw. I don't eat any internal organs at all though of any animal the thought just grosses me out. My hubby on the other hand likes it but since I won't cook it he only has it at restaurants and the one place that he loved it at of course closed down. Isn't that always the way?

That story about your step-dad is funny. I do not really care for liver but my husband likes it. He eats it every once in a while. We have a restaurant here that makes it that is not too far from our house. If he is in the mood that is the only place that he will get it from.

Everybody in my family loves beef and chicken liver. My hubby could live on it! But like you it has to be cooked right. Beef liver has to have lots of crispy onions cooked with it. Chicken livers have to be batter dipped with plenty of spices and very crispy crunchy. He's looking over my shoulder and says he's hungry now! He just got done eating supper.

I haven't eaten any liver in years, but I also have no desire to try it again.
My father was a huge fan of liver. He'd eat it often. I know he'd fry it up in a pan, but only after it was left soaking in milk in the fridge for a day. It was gross seeing it in the fridge as a kid. Really really gross. That image I can't get rid of. Thanks for reminding me. NOT!
Why would you want to eat liver anyways? Its function is to clean nastiness out of a body. In effect, wouldn't that mean it was full of that same nastiness?
Oh gawd... I think I'm going to be ill thinking about it. Ew!

I love liver and onions. To prepare it so it is tender and delicious is pretty easy actually. You sear it quickly on both sides on relatively high heat, then take it off the heat and just let it sit in the pan for a few minutes.
I don't think liver coated with powdered sugar would have been too tasty! YUK!

I love liver! We have a great little Irish pub around here that makes it perfect! When I cook it at home, I like to broil it like a steak, cooked about medium. mmmmm......

I love liver and so do some of my kids. I however only like it when my husband cooks it. He adds lots of onions and peppers. It is really good. I also like chicken and deer liver. I think that some get turned off by the smell as it cooks and just the thought. Now 2 of my kids dont care much for it and will ruin it by lots of ketchup and I mean drowns it in the ketchup. Takes a bite, swallows and then a drink and then they start over ... lol

Hello Myrrdin,
I used to eat liver when I was much younger. It adds flavor to the dishes, like chopsuey, pancit noodles, menudo and the likes. My mother let me ate liver - medium rare when I was in high school for I was low blood. They told me that I need to it liver. I love it. But now that I am in my late 40s, I don't eat anymore. Though I must admit that I miss it so much.

I do like beef liver. I don't however care for chicken liver. I get a craving for liver and onions once in awhile, but not often. I fry the liver (that has been coated in flour) and onions. It doesn't take long. You're right, over-cooked liver is like chewing shoe leather. I like to make gravy and have mashed potaoes with it. I really like to have the gravy over my liver as well as the potatoes. It doesn't take much to curb my craving. After I have had it though, I probably won't have another craving for it for another year. Best wishes to all you liver lovers!

I think liver is OK, and my mom will cook some from time to time. It can be very delicious if the liver is chopped into slices of proper thickness. However, from nutritional point of view, it is not good for health to eat too much liver, since animal liver contains high level of cholesterol, which may accumulates inside the blood vessel as one gets old. So, having liver sometime is totally fine, but I don't think it advisable to have liver all the time.
