Would your friends say that you are generous?

Maybe you are a gift giver. Or Maybe you completely forget birthdays. Maybe you pick up the check. Or maybe you are always low on cash. Maybe you help your friend run errands. Or maybe you always need a lift. Do you give freely of your resources? Do your friends think of you as a generous person? Or do you generally rely on their generosity?

Hi rocketj, I would say I am a generous person, I am always available to friends who needs my time and help even financial especially before that I had a job... They know that I am the first person who never fail to give them something special during occasions and they know that I really love to give my clothes to them as well as relatives! LOL! This time being married and jobless, I can only offer my time and messages to them..LOL!

oooooo... even more important than generosity is listening skills. You must be a wonderful friend. Not everyone has the gift of listening. Thanks

I regularly give gifts to close friends. I remember each of their birthdays and see to it that I greet and give a gift when it comes. No, I don't want to rely on the generosity of others. That would be so embarassing. Anything given to me is fully appreciated and I make sure I always return the gratitude when any chance comes. I can't say that I am generous or what but perhaps it's just that I give to people I love and to people in need. To family and relatives, I can even give till it hurts. I don't mind if nothing is left with me for as long as I can help anyone of them who really needs my help. And I noticed that the more I give... the more blessings come my way.

I would say that from chatting with you for awhile on line, that I can tell that you are a very generous person. You speak very highly of your family and friends and I know of your Christian faith. I believe you are generous, in part, because you are thankful to God for what He has done in your life. It's getting late here, my friend. Gotta go to bed.

Although I do not have much I would give anyone what ever they needed. I know what it is like to be in need. I know how sometimes it can be embarrassing to ask for help. But i do it anyway if needed. If someone asks me for help I give back just as easily. So I would think they would say i am both. :)

the Bible says to "bear one another's burdens". the problem with today's society is that people don't want to let people know their burdens. Now my question is this. How can I "Bear" you burdens if I never "hear" your burdens. We need to learn to take off the masks that say "I'm ok all the time" and be real with people. Even more so in the body of Christ.

I believe some of that comes from our American mentality of "pulling ourselves up by our own bootstraps". That's really boloney! We all need help! Not just from other people but especially from the Lord! I also believe that our economy is built on a house of cards, so to speak. Credit can make you feel like you have more than you do. It's an acceptable form of lying. We can fake that we have it all. So when reality sets in financially, we have a hard time admitting it. We've been faking it for so long.

Yes, we have to be gracious about giving AND receiving. I've had to deal with some pride this week as we are having some financial difficulties. It's hard not to be embarrased when you need other people to understand your situation. It's prideful to think that we should be able to "handle" everything that comes our way. It is much easier to give than to receive. Thanks:)

Two boys - A photo of two boys standing together depicting friendship.
I believe that I am a good and generous person usually. I don't like to rely on the generosity of others. I don't necessarily need to always be on the receiving end of gifts. I feel it is better to give than to receive. I usually get more out of it when I am giving to someone. It makes me happy to help someone or make someone's day better. Friends would probably say that I am a good and giving person. I try to be a good friend as much as I can. We all need to have a good friend and someone to share things with. It is all about sharing and just being there for someone. Sometimes the time you give to someone is the most important gift you can give. Just listening and understanding another person can really make them feel better and cared about.

You are right, generosity is more than the giving of things. It's the giving of your time and attention. Thanks:)

I think food shopping is the only place I can tighten the purse strings on. You can easily survive on a low budget for a week and buy the luxuries the follow week. I threw caution to the wind this though and have sort of over spent a bit! It was the Christmas stuff they had in I couldn't help myself!!

Well, you know, we all have our financial limits. Groceries are getting more and more expensive. If you've got kids, then you know what I mean. Thanks:)

Most of my friend say i am generous. Perhaps that is the same reason why they abuse my kindness lol. Most of them youll find them at times when they needed something from me. Or if i treat them for a snack. I got tired of it though and one time i end up the friendship coz i felt they were just taking advantage of my kindness.
