Why do we always have to DO something

Good morning All, I keep reading we need to do something about.... Why do we feel like we must control, change, or fix everything? There once was a child that traveled the world looking for importance..Finally arriving at the sea he saw starfish wash ashore and soon realized they died if not returned to the sea. Each day he spent throwing starfish back. One day a child asked the now elderly man why he dis this and said it made no difference to the world at all. The old man picked up a starfish and tossed it back to the sea saying" To this one it means everything!" Moral of the story " No one can do everything but everyone can do something" If each human spent(not wasted) even a few minutes of each day doing what they could to truly make their corner of this earth better, weather it be throwing stars back or giving your neighbors some of your perennials or letting someone with a cranky child in the grocery line ahead of you,... the corners would start meeting and getting bigger until they became nicer neighborhoods then states and who knows.. maybe someday the people living on this planet might be able to tolerate each other without weapons. Have a wonderful day..and help make someone else's nice also.. Raydene

Hi Ray!What a wonderful world it would be. In my little way, I try to live by these standards...letting folks ahead of me in line, plugging a meter that is about to expire, holding the door open for people with their hand full. It all adds up. Maybe someday, I will be the one needing that little extra help!

hey raydene good thinking there if i do my part ,you do your part and every other person on earth do there part to make sure things work am sure the pieces of the puzzle will meet one day and this world would have become a better place ,but believe me we should npot wait for somebody to start as nothing will ever get done we need to start in our own individual little ways and then it will spread

Yes I agree with you and pray to God sincerely to happen that sooner than later. But presently possibility of happening that is looking very weak.

Helping others not only makes it nice, but also gives some satisfaction. I think everyone is ready to help, but the misusing people make helping ones back off.

You are so right there, all of us seem to think that we are pretty much indipensible, the world turns around us,the world cant survive without us.We are for the most part driven by power and greed, and in that quest we fail to stop and take note of the smaller things in life. Its only when maybe something happens that makes us stop, that we do take any notice of the wonderful things life has on offer. You are so right ,everyone csn do something, whether it be little or big.

You are so very right. I need this reminder when it comes to the jobs I take as well. I am good at what I do, better than many, so when I am told I am needed for an extra shift, I always try to say yes. You know what, others are good too, and if I am not kind to myself, it is hard to continue to care for others. I know, this is a little off the track. I had my first shift at my new job, and for each thing I did, the client thanked me, and that made me feel really great, and made it easy to work for him and with him. I was on the receiving end in that case, of someone doing what they could to make the world better, even as they are in a position that is taking a lot of control from their hands. It makes a nice environment when we are even just polite to people.
