Seeing the way the global economy is crumbling, are you cutting down on your shopping? Or are you shopping all the more to relieve the stress of the financial crisis? Cheers! Ram

Hi! Even if I'm just spending for myself (because I'm single), I have cut down on buying clothes and dining out. I am fully aware that times are hard. Even with less shopping, I still could not save because there are bills to pay. That's how difficult it is these days, and I just wonder about those who have a family to feed. I hope the economic crisis will soon be over.

Yes... if consumers stop going to the shops, the retailers would have to join in the slowdown... The good news though is that oil is now at $83 a barrel which is at it's lowest in a long long time... So that helps retailers cut costs and cut prices... Cheers! Ram

For me, the only crisis impact in the media, and in the exchange rates. Prices are not going up or down around here, and I don't have money in banks so, I might be ignorant of the whole situation, but I fail to see the impact on me.

The prices are fluctuating, but in the usual trend. The Romanian economy isn't that good, even if some say that during the last year the economy grew. It's not a matter of insulation, but I'm sure that here the economy responds more to rumors than to well argued economical influences.

Unfortunately, the way the economists and the investment bankers have gone in the last few years, there is very little difference between rumour and sound economic policies :) Cheers! Ram

If the prices are not fluctuating in Romania that's great... How is the economy there? Is it showing signs of slowing down or is it insulated to the global economy? Cheers! Ram

I have been cutting back since the spring, with the prices of several items going up so high. I mostly only go out when there is a good sale to be found and don't like to travel to far from home to do it.

I think this festival season is also going to be very bad for the businesses as I think most people will continue to cutback on unnecessary spendings... Cheers! Ram

I think stores are also trying to price their products fairly in order to draw in more shoppers. There are many on-going sales in my area so I can't resist splurging on things I don't really need. I don't find myself cutting back on expenses because I think the store have already adjusted with regards to the economy. This may be just my thinking though because I don't really know if prices fro clothes has gone up or not...

Hi friend, I am not cutting down the basic needs because when we cut short our requirements it would affect us in many ways. Our mentality would change and when the food and basic requirements gets reduced we would not feel happy. We would not be able to concenterate on work or anything. So I cut down all extra shopping, like dresses and unnecessary things.Above that I dont know how to be frugal.Being frugal affects even the children when we dont satisfy our needs.thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.

The art of being frugal is to cut down the excessive cost, but not the necessary costs. So if you are doing that then you are being frugal. Thanks for the response. Cheers! Ram
