mylotters answer me this Am I wrong? Isnt this wrong to just delete a discussion simply because it isnt one that interests you? I think that is very wrong, and unfair to the people who have responded to that discussion, making them lose points. what is your take on this? One user said that in a response to some discussion a few days back. I was going Huh say that again.I could understand if the discussion had broken mylot rules, but shouldnt you just notify mylot if you find one that has broken mylot rules? by hitting the exclamation mark instead:?

Hello Hatley don't you think maybe you misunderstand. How can a contributor delete a discussions from the system. Isn't the administrators alone are allowed to delete our discussions. Maybe the person is saying that any discussion that comes to his/her notification she/he delete it.

If a discussion is deleted simply because it isn't "interesting" I suppose that would be wrong. However, MyLot clearly states their rules, including repeat discussions, vulgarity, etc, and that's why they would delete a discussion. I don't think they would do it simply for not being "interesting." Besides, who is to decide what is actually interesting and what's not?? That doesn't make any sense to me. Some rule(s) must have been broken, perhaps by someone's reply and not the initial discussion post itself.

I don't understand what you mean by deleting a discussion. On Admin can do that. I couldn't delete a discussion if I wanted to here on this site. It might happen on other sites, but not here. So, if a discussion got deleted, it was because Admin did it, not another member.

wait, you can delete a discussion? is that feature available? i don't think you yourself has the ability to delete a discussion you've posted. only my lot has the ability to do so and i think they only do that because of violations or someone reported it. but i don't remember having the ability to delete discussions. i know i have some with absolutely no responses from a year ago that i would love to have deleted.

Hi Hatley, I have used that expression myself before in a discussion and the way I meant was delete the email of that discussion if it is of no interest not delete the persons discussion so perhaps that is what this person meant as I get so many notification emails and they may too. I can't imagine a person deleting a discussion because it is of no interest to them so perhaps just a misunderstanding there I would say. However if that is in fact what they did mean yes I agree that is wrong. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hatley, don't you dare say that you are an idiot, you are a very learned lady and one who I respect so much. We all read things differently and that is maybe what you have done in this situation, no worries. You have the move and everything else on your mind right now so don't beat yourself up about it. 11 months later sadder and wiser. the move crashed when the so called internet friendof my sons changed her bloody mind after having signed a paoer promising to pay our rent for three months so we could live while my son looked for a job. after we had put stuff in storage and paid one hundred dollars down she calls at the last minute and tells the manager she has decided she will not do that.she was the one who had made the offer, we had never asked her for help.

Only MyLot admin can delete a discussion. Anyone can report a discussion for violation, of course but I am sure that Admin keep a record of people who report discussions (or I would hope they do). If most or all of a person's reports are of valid violations of the TOS and Guidelines, I would expect that to increase a person's rating. If it appears that people are reporting discussions out of personal vanity, pique, disagreement or just for the hell of it (and, believe me, that can become evident pretty quickly), then I would expect MyLot to take action against that user. It's certainly wrong to report a discussion or a response simply because you disagree with it. It's also a waste of MyLot's time and resources. It's also wrong to hit the '-' button just because you disagree with what someone has said (but very tempting, nonetheless!) I think that, for all their lack of communication, MyLot do keep tabs on who does what, to a certain extent. I certainly trust them to be fair overall even if there seem to be anomalies in individual cases.

hi owlwings yes I agree entirely with what you said and I really do trust mylot. when two trolls minused me down to a five from a ten overnight mylot caught them, told me there were two of them and that they had been banned from mylot. My star went up to 8 but that's better than a five and I will get back my star one day hopefully.

I think she gets the posts in her email and deletes them there. I do that when I already answered the discussion because I usually go to the mylot home page first. Then I will go to my email and answer the ones of my friends I have notify on, that did not get to the top of the friends started post. Of course, she could mean that she also presses the ! button and reports them, but that would be wrong, would it not? Or she could be one of the moderators and has the ability to get rid of the post. Makes you wonder why she would even announce this.

I just do not answer the posts that do not interest - no sense opening my mouth and showing what an idiot I am - but I would never go to that post that says "I love football and when I watched the game last night" and press the ! mark and report it and say to the administrator 'this post violated the terms of myLot," etc. I mean I wish I knew enough so that I could answer all the posts, but I don;t and thanks for the best response.

That is why I turned off the friend's notifications and just use the notify me when someone comments on a discussion I responded to. (I go check my unresolved and started discussions all the time, but I would be here the next day and into the next winter if I had to go to all the discussions I responded to). And when I do go to my friends discussions, I answer those that I can give more than a two word or two sentence response to. I have not yet pressed the ! button as I feel it is better to tell that person what he did wrong first.

I am sure as others have siad on here that she deletes them from her email notification. I know that is possible and I know that members here can not delete any discussions that are started. I know that I can't even delete discussions that I have started and so I am sure that she didn't mean that she deleted discussions on this site itself. I do appreciate you having the courage to ask this as some people might never have thought about it and if it was possible she could be causing major problems with others discussions.

I have deleted many discussions from my email notifications, but no one can delete a discussion started on Mylot.. I have also commented on that in many of my responses if it pertains to the original topic of discussion.. I have deleted persons who are only interested in talking about the sites that they have joined and want to add you as a referral, they are self serving and not interested in making Mylot a better community, so it is not something that I am interested in responding to all of the time, so another deletion.. I can't nor can anyone else delete anything from Mylot, it is not our responsibility to do that, but I and anyone else can delete any notifications that we receive in our emails.. When you have 100 legitimate discussions that you can respond to, then you don't have time to just respond to the ones about "how can you help me to make more money".. I enjoy the more interesting discussions..

Hi hatley, I'm sure that the person was talking about deleting email notifications. But, just the same they didn't need to brag about it. So you delete things that don't interest you, so why do you feel the need to announce it in the middle of a discussion? That's the part that I don't understand, but then again I don't know who the person is or what the discussion was about, but it just sounds unnecessary.

when i responded that way, i think the question was about why people would be disrespectful and insult people. i meant why respond. if you cant say anything nice? not that i thought they shouldnt put up the discussion just that people should not respond if not interested

Hello Hatley. It's true only admin can delete any discussions here in myLot. I have once deleted my discussion or I have requested admin to delete it rather. And my reason for doing such act is because I incidentally violated the rules, I have sent discussion contain typographical/grammatical error, then I repeated submitting the edited one with same title thinking that it would replace the old one, but it didn't . So to make the story short I have posted same discussion twice. And I don't want to violate any rules here in myLOt so I requested admin to delete it, but unfortunately they have deleted the one which I want to be left. And I feel sorry for those who responded on that discussions. Personally I don't think it's fair if anyone would just delete discussion, simply because it doesn't interest him/her. If that so why did he post that kind of discussion in the first place if he doesn't like thst?

first of all, i am wondering how this person is able to delete discussions... i thought only mylot admin can do that... we can only report a discussion as abuse to the admin when we find a discussion that violates the rules here... and the one who will decide whether to delete it or not is the admin... it is really a big question mark to me... or the person is only making up story??? take care and have a nice day...

Hello, Hatley. I don't think you should worry about it. There is no way an user can delete any discussions here in myLot. You can't even delete your own responses to the discussions. What you can do is send a request to myLot staff saying that you'd like to delete your response because of a good reason. Otherwise, there is no way to delete a discussion. You should try to see if whoever said that didn't mean that the user just JUMPED discussions that did not interest him/her. Isn't this what was meant? Respectfully, Munhozmib.
