I grew up in the south and as a child I remember going bare feet. I could do this outside with no problem, could run like a rabbit with no shoes on. Now as I have gotten older my feet are very tender I can't even stand to go without shoes even in the house, don't even mention going outside with no shoes on. I just can't do this anymore. Can You go bare feet inside or out?

Hi chevee! To be quite honest, I love to go barefoot! I hate wearing shoes and I do go barefoot every chance I get. In the summer if I need to take the garbage outside you can be sure that I probably don't even bother to even have my flip flops on. I just hate to wear anything on my feet. The only reason I do wear anything on my feet in the fall or winter is because my feet get cold. But, if I could get away with it I would never have shoes or socks on ever! I love to walk around outside bare foot even though I know that it isn't the smartest thing because I am always stepping on rocks or something.

I usually wear open toed leather sandals all summer. But I go barefoot a lot even when gardening. I love the freedom of wiggling my toes etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I used to do that too. During my younger years, even in my teenage years, I never minded getting off our house without any slippers or sandals. In fact, I even do bare footing even when I was playing basketball.

I go outside occasionally to check the mail with no shoes on but I tend to walk very slowly and watch where I step. Like you I used to run wild with no shoes on all the time and even when I'd step on things, I'd just pull it out and keep on going. These days I step on a rock and my whole foot feels like it's broke. ~~MY OWN PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF**

It was popular with a lot of friends on mine when I was young but I never took to it. Now, I can't do it at all. I must have on shoes or slippers even when I'm at home. As soon as I leave my bed I put my feet into something.

I run around bare feet all the time. I used to wear tennis shoes to work all the time, I couldn't wait to get home and get them off. The first thing I do when I walk into my house, is kick my shoes off. Now that I work at home, I hardly ever have shoes on. When I have to go out, I wear sandals. In the summer, when the grass is green and nice and plush, I love being out side in my bare feet. There is just something unnatural abut wearing shoes, to me. Nobody would know that by looking at my closet, though. I have sandals out the wazoo, and a only a few less pairs of shoes on the shelf*L*

I am the same way. As a child I went barefoot all the time. But now as I have gotten older it hurts way too bad to go outside on the hard surfaces with no shoes.

yes i went barefooted for years even up into my 40's. then i started getting sick with different things and learned that as you get older, your imune system does not keep you from catching so many things any more. so, now i've gotten parinoid from different things i've read about what your feet pick up and wear shoes all the time except when showering and sleeping

Hi Chevee, I don't know what happens to our feet when we get old, I used to run around in bare foot too and never like to have any shoes on, but mum always make us wear shoes on a Sundays, it was just one of those things she used to make us do, and now I have to have my slippers on and cannot bear to walk bare feet. Inside the house I am barefoot most of the times. I sometimes feel like it is hard to walk on floor when I have slippers on but most of the times my feet aches because I walk barefooted, but outside? maybe outside the house but not that away from the house, about 2 to 3 meters only, when I throw the garbage I sometimes go outside barefooted, on the beach I walk without any slippers and that's all.

I grew up in the south as well, but I was never allowed growing up to go outside barefoot and I always had to wear shoes. Now that I have gotten older and moved out on my own, maybe every once and awhile I will go outside barefoot and I always walk around on my carpet barefoot. That is about it. Sometimes though, when I am outside I am scared that I am going to step on a piece of glass or sharp rock. If I am in a rush to get something outside, I will just run out without shoes on. But if I am not in much of a rush, I'll throw some shoes on.

I cannot do that because I was not used to it. My parents, when we were still kids, always remind us to always wear slippers or shoes to have our feet protected. I always see people in our place walking with nothing on their feet. hey can still run or wlak very fast. I cannot imagine myself doing that.

I'm sitting here right now with no shoes on, no slippers, no socks, nothing. I LOVE barefootin'! I've always been this way, since I was a kid. I grew up in Baltimore City but that didn't make any difference. If I could get away with wearing nothing on my feet, I would. I went through a period where my arches were falling (I have extremely high arches) and was under a doctor's care. I couldn't go without arch support so I HAD to wear shoes at that time. I was so uncomfortable!!! Once that got better, I took off the shoes. I only wear them when I have to go out. Even when my husband and I are going somewhere and he's driving, I'll take my shoes off until we get to where we're going. Okay, to be honest, I DO wear something on my feet in the wintertime. It's just too cold not to. But, around the house, I'll just put on a pair of socks and walk around in them unless I have to go out.

I'm from the south, too, and I still go barefoot. About the only time I wear shoes is when I go to shop, work, church, or any other such thing. I can remember as a child looking forward to spring when it would be warm enough to take my shoes off. My sisters and I were the best tree climbers in the neighborhood, and I believe it was because we went barefoot while the other children wore shoes and couldn't grip tree parts as well as we could. Like you, I could run like a rabbit without shoes.

Hi Chevee. I don't like to go barefoot outside. My feet are also tender. But living here in FL, we have a lot of ants and they can be mean LOL. I go barefoot inside but not outside. Have a happy lotting day.

I never went barefoot as a child because I was forever stubbing my toe. Now I never wear shoes. I walk my kid to the bus stop barefoot. In the winter my InLaws always tell me to put shoes on so I don't get sick, lol. We're in Va, so even in winter it's like 50 degrees.
