What are Antioxidants? Why should I take them? What do they do? I was told I should drink Pomegranate juice, because it's a good antioxidant, but I was never told why....

http://www.healthcastle.com/antioxidant.shtml Antioxidants are found abundant in beans, grain products, fruits and vegetables. Look for fruits with bright color - lutein in some of the yellow pigments found in corn; orange in cantaloupe, butternut squash and mango; red from lycopene in tomatoes and watermelon, and purple and blue in berries. So enjoy eating a variety of these products. It is best to obtain these antioxidants from foods instead of supplements. In addition, minimize the exposure of oxidative stress such as smoking and sunburn. There is more information on this site pertaining to antioxidants! I also take fish oil which is good for your heart. I also take vitamins also. Colored food seem to have more antioxidants also.

Farming practices, nowadays, are also being affected by economic crisis. Therefore, fruits and vegetables now are not that potent so we don't get enough antioxidants from food alone. So we really need to take food supplement as a substitute. In addition to that, a person can only eat so much fruits and vegetables in a day. I doubt if anyone can eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables everyday.
