How would you like it if they said that about your father or husband?

I often think about the things they say about Obama. He is a normal man with a wife and two young daughters. People want to kill him and think he's danger to our country, and they want to hurt him. I can see not agreeing with his policies, that's okay, but I really hate to hear about people saying such horrible things that aren't even true. Even if you're all for McCain, can your really feel comfortable hearing about that stuff?

Many don't see Obama as a human being. He's an "other". He's black, brown, Muslim, socialist, etc... They see him as a stereotype of their worst fears. When they dehumanize him to such a degree there is no longer the connection of "what if someone said that about your father?" They see themselves, and therefor their family, as the real humans.

I think it is a shame that people feel that way. I know who I am going to vote for already. It does not matter to me what color people are either or what their poilitcal side is either, whether it is Democrat or Republican. I choose who will do the best job for us. Obama is winning in my book.

I think that anyone would say those type of things are horrible and ignorant. It makes me so afraid for him and his family. He is a good person and whether you agree with his policies or not, he only wants the best for others. He could have had a way differnt life and made lots of money. He made a choice to serve others and other people need to accept that and respect it. No one deserves hostility like that.

I don't like it. I'm not sure I'll vote for him but I think there should be rules in politics, one being no personal attacks! At least he doesn't drag his kids with him everywhere like Palin does.

I'm never comfortable with hatred. Those who say such horrible things about Obama are horrible, ugly people who have been manipulated almost to the point of violence by the McCain camp, especially by their favorite terrorist screeching pit dog.

We need to embrace peace in this world and love each other for the equal human beings we are regardless of race or religion. I have no problem with Obama. I don't agree or disagree it just is so I accept it as is. I think we need to put aside harsh opinions or at least just keep them to ourselves. Indeed it is unfair to make such mean and unfriendly smears to others as this does effect his children and family as a whole in a less than positive way. No doubt, Obama can enlighten and prepare his children for such. For them it is just life for the position that he now holds. Regardless of it being Obama or someone else, it is unfair and rude of anyone to say mean things publicly about another. Shame on them. Let there be more peace and love in this world.

People go over the limit in politics. They fail to make a difference between the man and his vision, the man and politics. When they get personal, things gets nasty. © ronaldinu 2008

People are saying horrible things about Obama, Sarah Palin, and McCain. I don't know that I've heard much bad things said about Biden, but I imagine its out there, I just haven't heard it. People are trashing all three that I mentioned. All have families, Palin has young children too, and I don't care for any of it. Obama fans, McCain fans, no one is any better. I could do with everyone stopping the mean spirit stuff. Both sides are spreading it way too much.

I know I sure wasn't comfortable hearing and reading it all the time. People seemed to forget Obama's a human being just like the rest of us and that his two daughters are just like our kids and grandkids. There was mudslinging from and to both sides but nothing even close to what was said about Obama was said about any in the McCain campaign and McCain, to his credit, didn't participate in it as much as his running mate did. The worse thing about it is to many people today there's nothing worse that can be said about someone than that they're "anti-American" or that they have ties to terrorists. If there's anything in the world that could incite violence, that would be it. Annie

Obama is a man that we don't know anything about, he refused to show his orignial birth cerificate, he has ties to many that are felons, or terroist ties, he want to rob the rich to give to the poor, what kind of ideas is that. Now what if he decides that the peron making 150,000 making too much so he slaps a tax on them. He has no experience in foreign affairs and I think we have a right to fear this man and what he can do to our country. His ties to Acorn makes me believe he is buying this election, with the nearly 100,000 illegal votes that has been registered in ohio and Fla. already, he can say what he wants about them, he did give them $800,000 may not of been this year but was last. What was that for, he didn't answer the question the other night when ask. His ties to Ayers, he said he didn't have when it is a fact that his first campaign for senator was funded from Ayers home. Why not answer the question, I think Joe the Plumber has gotten his word out and people are beginning to see what Obama represents. McCain was right with the way the economy is right now WHY RAISE TAXES ON ANYONE. As for his family, I don't like his wife and I think she knows the answers to the quesions ask, she side steps them too. Answering these questions would turn the people against him so he will side step them for a couple more weeks. I don't like the na,e calling and their families should be left out of it. But sometimes you have to do what it takes and he sure can sling the mud at McCain and no one seems to think that is bad. Make sure you know what kind of person he is before you say people being mean.

His birth certificate is right here. http://fightthesmears.com/articles/5/birthcertificate I don't care whether you agree with McCain or Obama on the economy or anyone else. What I asked was if it really is fair to say so many horrible, untrue things about him, or to threaten him. It would be less okay if he was just a talk show host or an actor. But since he's running for president, it's overlooked. When you say Obama is a man we don't know anything about, maybe it's just that he's a man that YOU don't know anything about.

"But sometimes you have to do what it takes..." In other words, in Obama's case it was OK to say whatever cruel and hurtful things they felt were "necessary" to keep him from office? I think you missed the whole point the OP was trying to make here. Annie

Let it go we will see what happens now that he is going to be president I guess she thinks his way of buying his way into office was ok, or the mud he slumg at McCain, I don't like him, don't believe he is there to help us, if he is then lets see him do it, when you run for office you take what is dished out. I said it was not right to include his kids in the name calling and the meanest everyone threw at him. Oh he acts like such a saint and it seems he always has his a$$ covered, he lets his people say the things that are mean against others, so that way it didn't come out of his mouth. And yes he is a man NONE of us knows anything about, I guess you believe everything that you read. Like I said it doesn't matter now he is in and I will be here when all you Obama supporters come back here crying. I would love to say I'm wrong but usually my first instints of a person ends up to be right way I see it we are in for 4 more years of a Clinton white house since he sourrounded himself with all the people bill had in office. Don't worry I won't get into any more of your discussions. Only to say I told you so!

You are right, but it is not the first time a political candidate is personally attacked and that his family suffers for it. I personally do not like the dog eat dog mentality of politics but that's how the politicians seem to play the game.
