Yes my friend, the place where I stay suffers very frequent fluctuations and that is a very big problem. And sometimes they are so high that my computer use to shut down. This is irritating and also can be very harmful to the computer. With my previous computer I faced this problem and so I did not want that to happen with my new computer and so I decided to buy a UPS. Although it does not give me a huge backup as I have a CRT monitor still and that is not because of what I bought. It gives me the time to shut down when there is a power failure and also saves the computer from shutting down abruptly when there is a power fluctuation. What else can I ask for.

It can save you some money in the long run by not having to buy burned out parts. My area went through a period where there were daily outrages and it cost me a motherboard and power supply. The ups software can shut down your pc safely when power stays out too long. It also gives your pc a nice power signal. It cleans up the electricity coming out of your outlet to give your pc a stable and steady flow of electricity. It protects from brownouts and those dips when things like the air conditioner kicks on. My UPS is of V guard, i used another ups named APC that was also good.

I do not use the UPS. This is because I live in a government supplied housing and this has continuous power supply all the time. So I do not need to have it. There have been situations when I cursed myself for not having one, but it's OK because those situations occur occasionally and very rarely. bourne

I am using two UPS's for my one and only one computer. One is connected to CPU and ADSL router and the another is to my monitor. I can get a backup of upto 45 min when they are fully charged. One UPS is from Mercury which I don't like and another is intex which I love. I bought the second one because, with mercury ups, when I got some power failure, it will restart my computer. So I bought the second one.
