We went shopping once and my cousin was short changed 50 cents, we were on our way home when she realized this, she had us turn around and go back and get her money, I told her I would give her a dollar, if she would just let it go, she said no I am going back so turn this car around, that cashier is going to give me my 50 cents. If it's something that is not what she expected it to be she will return it, no question asked. She keeps all her receipts, whether it be large or small she will return it without hesitation. Now something large like appliances, I can see me taking them back but she isn't giving in to anything. Are You the type of person that demands on returning things back to the store whether it is large or small?

Not me, I usually think that type of thing is too much of a waste of time. You usually have to wait around to talk to somebody. Your time is worth more tha 50 cents in my opinion. If I dont think of it or notice it at the store I probably would not pursue it. That's just me.

For 50 cents, no way would I bother. I'm a bit of a pacifist on taking things back, I'll deal with nearly anything before demanding a refund. Unless it's food, I'm a picky eater so I gotta have my food right. :)

Not worth the aggravation I think. If it was a couple of dollars then I probably would. I usually check my change when I get it though.

probably cost her more in petrol going back i'm not a penny pincher i can be careful if i want to be but am generally not that uptight about it i know she would probably say it's the principle but it's a bit anal seriously better things to do with my time over 50 cents

I wouldn't waste my petrol and drive all the way back and complain for 50c. It's just like giving a dollar on a scratchie and you loose. I guess it's just your bad luck.

It usually happens like that only if something is wrong with the thing that i love to use. For example, if something happens to my phone, I couldn't give a fig and wont care much because I don't really use my phone. But if something like that happened to my iPod, I would run to the Apple store immediately to get it fixed because I use it each day. If I buy something new and find that it is not what I expect it to be, I surely visit the store and get it changed. It is important to know the value of money and if someone sup-plies you with a broken new good, then you have the right to go and ask for a replacement. bourne

Im not usually that kind of person. I do keep receipts and such so i have proof that i have purchased something but other than that if its something little i wouldnt care as much. I dont even bother picking money off the ground when i see it.

No, they will have to be big, if it is not worth the two dollar bus ride, or the big walk, I am not going. In the case of your cousin, I would have forgotten the 50 cents or taken your dollar, it is so rare to have someone giving one a ride, whatever it is family or friends that I would be more protective of your feelings than even mine.

Hi chevee! No, I can't be bothered taking something back to the store unless it is something that is damaged, doesn't fit properly, I saw something that I liked better or cheaper somewhere else, or I just changed my mind. Other than that I wouldn't just take something back because it would usually mean that I have to take a bus or 2 or 4 to go back to the store where I got it. It usually isn't worth the trip. In your case it cost more for the gas then 50 cents so your cousin had a lot of nerve asking you to turn the car around and go back for the 50 cents. I also don't like getting ripped off but 50 cents is not a good enough reason for going back to the store once you are already on your way home. If you know that you are like that then look at your receipt before you leave the store. That's what I try to do. Otherwise, just deal with it! Your cousin was very wrong asking you to do this!

well, for me it is depend on the amount... if it is just a small amount like 50 cents or all few dollar, i will Ok with it and won't go back and ask for it... unless the amount is really big and it likes double from what i was bough, then only i will go back... and for things, after i bough, if it is not like what i expected, i will just keep it or give it to other... I don't wish to trouble others... well, it is our consumer rights to get a good and quality things but don't overuse the rights...

I would have thought that the cashier would have to cash out her drawer to determine if she was 50 cents over so your cousin could get her money back. To me it wouldn't be worth it. I don't ever save reciepts, but yes, I do take things back if I don't like them. I have been on the "LIST" at Walmart because I took too many things back without reciepts, so they put me on the no return list without a receipt. Now I try to remember to save receipts, but usually don't.

It would have to be more than 50 cents for me to go back. If I were right there and I noticed that I was shortchanged, I would definitely mention it though. It was probably an honest mistake, but did you know some cashiers actually manage to steal quite a lot of money but making small mistakes like this and pocketing the money.

I do if it is something that I do not need or I purchased the wrong item.. If there is any reason that I do not need or want it, then yes, I do take it back.. I would also have went back for the .50 because my store is bad about that and if they get by with that trick with everyone, then they are getting richer and richer.. I believe there is a principle involved.. It would also depend on how far I was away from the store, it I was almost home then I would just forget it for this time but mention it to them the next time and keep a closer watch on my change..

I wouldn't have gone back after getting too far from the store. But, then again, I calculate things in my head when I am paying for something, so I know how much change I am supposed to get back, within a few pennies. If it was damaged or something like that, I would take it back, for sure. If it was something I decided I didn't really need, after the fact, no, I wouldn't take it back. It was my fault for buying something I didn't need in the first place.

double standard for me, i mean I sometimes will with an 84 cent pencil sharpener because those are part of my "Art tools" and I have a budget with that, I can't just accept a loss because I recieved damaged merchendise over and over... but if I was just dissapointed with how it turned out, and it was indeed completely as described... I usually wont.... I mean... It was a pencil, they are just all cheap, not just that one... but the sharpener, some are good and some (of the same type and brand) are bad. but with the pencils, the type/brand is either good or bad... see what I mean? the pencils would be my fault because its the type brand and I should have known better, and the sharpener, it was the handling, and thus its not my fault.
