When you eat food that tastes bad, do you say, "Yuck!" or just stop eating?

When I eat really bland food, I might say something like, "This tastes gross!" But, my daughter says, "Yuck!" I guess kids can get away with that. What do you say when you eat food that tastes really bland? Or, do you just stop eating and find something else to eat?

I say "I think it's bad" Then I stop eating it. It is easy enough to find something better. It could be spoiled. If it is just bland I may try and spice it up a bit. No use letting food go to waste.

Sorry, that's what I meant to type. If it's bad, do you stop eating. I really need that edit button!

An interesting topic... Most of the time, I would just drop my eating utensils (or use them elsewhere). Other times, I would start a search for other foods that I could eat, but I only do this if I know that food is in the immediate vicinity (I am kind of lazy). However, because of my strange gut instinct about which food to eat, I don't usually come across this scenario. You could be better off with a more "experienced" point of view.

So true! Most kids don't have the censor button, yet.

I don't really mind bland. Bland's OK to me. But if I don't like something, I usually try to be polite (considering how alot of people are high strung about their cooking around here!) and say, "I'm sorry it's just not to my taste." *glance around if anyone else is eating it and smile* "I'm glad others like it though, I can tell you put alot of effort into it."

My parents told me that saying Yuck and such tings is like disrespecting food. So I do not make such noises, but make a bad expression on the face and just leave it off. Food gives us the life and it shouldn't be disrespected. Our face has so many muscles, so I make extensive use of them to make facial expressions to express disgust. With food, I just let go off it and do not eat that. Instead I try to find something more tastier to eat. bourne

If I am by myself, I don't say anything but make a face. Even when I am in front of my kids I don't say anything, as I know how kids have a tendacy of not liking something because a parent says yuck!! I will stop eating and find something else to eat.

It depends if I'm in front of the one who made the food! : ) If I'm in someone's home and it tastes bad, I'll try to eat one more bite, just so I'm not obvious, and then I'll move on. If I'm in a restaurant with family or friends I may make a comment. But even then I would try to not say anything in front of the waiter or waitress. I don't know why not though. It's not like they cooked it, they just serve it. They might not like it either!

I think I just stop eating and find something else to eat. This comes from having a mom who was very sensitive to this type thing. Not only would I have never said something tastes gross, or "yuck", I would most likely act like there was nothing wrong with it and pretend to just not be hungry. Dumb, I know. I have grown up to be a lot more honest with my feelings about such things.... but I still think I would just not say anything and find something else to eat.

Hi BeautyQueen, I will add something to spice the tast up a bit if at home or if in a restaurant will complain and ask for a different dish. Yuck just about covers it. Huggles. Ellie :D

hi beauty queen I am elderly so I can get by with yuck thats gross and nobody bats an eyelid, hehhehe. I usually get up and find some pepper, and maybe some herbs or Mrs.Dash anything to 'get some flavor. a lot of times the food is just not seasoned, not really bad just not flavorful at all. If its really just bad food Iwill find something else to eat.

I would probably say "That's disgusting!" depending how shocked I am about the taste. I hate it when something looks really tasty but tasty nasty!! I would stop eating the food that didnt taste nice and eat the rest.
