What does that statement mean to you? What context do you think of it in? When was a time that you thought it about yourself? You may have not started so strong but finished on top?

I think it means, no matter how you begin something, even if it is a bad start, the outcome is the most important. If you find your way to make it work out right, that's is good. If it fails, that is also the outcome. So whether you start badly or well, the ending will decide it all!

I try to start my present venture last year without any clue.I ran from pillar to post and try to work under a person who knows the job.It was a bit here and a bit there.Three months back I have known all the intricacies of the work and I am making great strides in this business today.Every day I hear some encouraging news.To think how I start is very blind. So it is right that 'It's not how you start it's how you finish.'

I think that it pertains in my life.....starting late in life into a new career and how will I finish? I am continuing on one step at a time....As Winston Churchill put it.....success is not final....failure is not fatal...its the courage to continue that counts....

Hi, jillhill. I like that Churchill quote. Best wishes in your career... one step at a time.

Hi Carol its can be taken in 2 contexts 1) regardless of start and what happened, u r only concerned with the results. that what results u get at the end, u dont care how was ur start, what way u adopt. But if u ask me, i do agree with it, if it should be taken i a way that u started on right path, though u may have slow start, face lot of difficulties/hurdles, but u face them and make it till finish line. i wont mind that if u r first or last, as long as u make it till finish line its OK And other context, i would say that i dont mind how u finish it but i will sure say that start must be nice, keeping in mind, all rules, ethics and laws. as both are equally important Take care

My interpretation of this idea is that I should always seek to do my best in all things. Because no matter what happens to put me in a situation, it is what I do with the situation and how it ends that shows my character.

the statement for me tells something about how we handle a particular situation. it tells us no matter how hard a situation is for as long as you're able to deal with it , you're able to resolve it and you are happy about the result thats more important. and its good that you have the right direction in having the best result regardless of the difficulties and hard times at least you made it on top!

Reminds me of the tale of the hare and the tortise. It does also say something about how ever a person's life starts, it can be improved. For example, some start out in poverty or running with the wrong crowd but they can always change their lives to finish life as someone good.
