Step parents taking over

Why is it that some parents decide they don't love their real kids anymore just because they divorce their child's parent and marry someone new? This kind of thing pisses me off. It seems to me that the parent didn't really love that child in the first place because they base their love for a child on what man or woman they are in love with or who they are married to. Your child will always be your child and love you no matter who you are with. I don't understand some peoples mind set.

I have two daughters, both grown now, and I am divorced from their fathers. I always put my daughters first. Just as I expect my now s/o to do with his daughter. Anyone who expects to come first over the other persons child/children is going to be very sadly disappointed when that doesn't happen. I knew going into this relationship he had a daughter (an only child for him) and she comes first, and that's how it should be, I wouldn't be with him if he wasn't that way.
