How are you with names and faces? Has someone ever called you by the wrong name or confused you with someone else? I see alot of people everyday..some are regulars..well alot are and some are newbie's since this is a college town and students come and go..after being here for 16 yrs most know me as the HempHippie lady and come inside and ask.."Do You Remember me"? Now i'm pretty good with faces but unless they are regulars or family i tend to forget names..so what about you? Are you forgetting with age or always been that way?

I am not so good with remembering names. I come across many newbies everyday that I tend to forget their names quickly. Also it is not because of age cause I am just 25. Its just that I don't try to, unless I got some work with them. Otherwise I don't burden my mind.hehehe

Honey chil', I don't have the energy to be one either! and how could you be there when I meet someone in the airport like the time my dad ran into John Tower when he was still our senator? I remember him coming up to day, calling him by his first name and shaking his hand. AMAZING!

I am usually pretty good with names and faces, at least of the females Guys names I have a little more trouble remembering sometimes, but for the most part I am okay there too Once in a great while a person will come up to me that I have no recollection of that remembers me quite well. That is embarrassing

And thats when you hit them with your matching purse to your shoes for making you feel embarressed... I usually just say sorry old age is sitting in and forgive the Grandma..I know short term memory is tough but i'd never forget you!

I can most of the time remember names, it depends kind of on their first impression to me, or where we were. As for people I already know, long periods of time mean I have to dig for their name and sometimes I don't find it & feel terrible :x

Don't you just hate that?..knowing their name is on the tip of your tongue and you can't get it..so you think of ways to figure it out and they are talking to you and now you missed the conversation and have to explain to them why?..lol..I try to have someone with me and introduce themselves and get the person to say their name and then a light bulb goes off in my head like relief..yea!!!

Unusual names are easier to remember. That is my curse. Name is Mandalin, and hardly any of the people that I WANT to forget it, ever do.

Ha hemphippie lady. You could be called worse things! I"m good with names on a long term basis but short term-horrible. If I'm introduced to more than two people at once I don't remember any names. As far as my name is concerned, it's Carly. So I always get Kylie or Kelly. Or even Carla. One close friend of the family who knew me since birth always called me Kylie...up until he passed away a few years ago I was always Kylie to him...weird. His daughter and wife always corrected him but he just always knew me as Kylie! It didn't bother me because when I was young I always thought Kylie or Kelly was a much prettier name than Carly.

I can remember my name and the people that I call. I leave my name on their answer machines just to let them know that I called. I'm going to have to stop doing that!

hi rosekitty I am awful with names but do remember faces very well. I worked for 23 years as a page inour local library so saw a lot of people come and go. I didnt know their names but did recognize their faces. We would meet in the grocery store and the person would say my you look so familar, dont I know you, and I would have to say, probably as I am a page in the Tustin Library. Then I would give my name, so next time they saw me they would call me by name.Sometimes they would tell me their names but not always. the one guy I knew because he and I both liked Lillian Brauns the Cat Who series, and after I had been forcibley retired he often met me at a bus stop, and wou ld start telling the people he was with about how I had wo rked for years in the library and was the nicest one there. That really embarrassed me to no end.but it also pleased me, Kitty, that someone appreciated me after all. wow.

Hi Hatley.. I didn't know they had pages in Libraries?..lol..now that sounds funny just as i said it..books have pages..lol.. Was such a nice compliment that you were given and very much deserved after 23 yrs you probably knew more than everyone there.. I've helped alot of people learn things about Hemp..and alot of students did reports on it and received A's..I always gave books and supplies to use to make it very different as presented to the class and they always came back and complimented me for doing that for them..one even brought me flowers....some were just 13 and 14 when i opened my store and now they have families of there own..so sweet.. huggs and Love

It's always been that way for me! LOL Though if the name is a common one, or the same as mine, I have a better chance at remembering. I remember I made the mistake of calling a girl I thought was my friend from school the wrong name when we started 1st grade. I could have sworn it was my friend, until I looked behind me and saw my friend in the back row. Talk about embarrassing! This girl told me her name, but I never heard of it before, so for the life of me I couldn't remember it. And since we started hanging out together in school, I knew I would have to ask her again. So one day I did. And she told me it again. From then on I was able to remember it. I don't think anyone has ever called me the wrong name, other than my mom when mixing up my sister's and my names when we were growing up. Being a parent I know now that it's just a slip of the tongue when having more than one child, but boy, it got me a little PO'd back then! LOL

I had a boss who said it was a matter of volume vs capacity, meaning that you have more things flowing into your brain the older you get than your brain can store. That happened to me with names. If I meet a person I am very likely to forget their name right away and have to repeat it several times before I remember. But I rarely forget faces. And I've had many people get my name wrong or tell me that I look like sometocy else they know.

Well, I'm with you, unless they are a regular I am terrible with names. The faces I recognize but with so many customers, yikes. Barry is worse than I am and he has been working here so much longer than I, plus he grew up in this city. I'm sure part of it has to do with age, but then again, I've never been that great with names. Somedays I can simply walk across the room and forget their name. Now, that's bad.

Hi Rosekitty, I'm pretty good with names, at least I think I am! But the again I don't meet that many people anymore. I don't go to that many places where I meet anyone new. When I was at the Rehab I met alot of new people all the time. Some names I remembered and some I didn't. And there were new people all the time. I think I remembered most of the peoples names. I forget other things and that may be an age thing!

My name gets mispronounced, misspelled a lot and it used to annoy me but now I am more used to it right now. It was so bad that they even misspelled my name when I applied for college!!! It's terrible! Sometimes I blame my handwriting but mostly, I really blame others for not paying attention. :)

I have always been bad with names. It took me three years to remember all of the names in of the kids in my high school. I am relativly good with faces though. This is very helpful, especially with the way people great each other now a days. I can not know somebody's name and still get their attention by saying hey bro. I can even say hey bro to one of my friends whom I do remember. Language has addapted to make it less important to say someones name in a conversation and I'm happy with it.
