Sometimes we seem never contented of what we have, we were given good but we keep on seeking for the best which sometimes leads us to missing the simple yet satisfying part of the journey, just like when we are in love, we set requirements we target the ideal, so were do we end up??? We end up hoping that the ones we have left behind still have spaces for us, because the one we thought to be ideal doesn't seem to see us that way What an IRONY but I guess that would be reality. Happy Mylotting!!!

Because people are just insatiable by nature. There is really no end to man's discontentment. The moment he acquires something, he craves for more and more. But i suppose this discontentment of his some good things in store for him too. Due to this, man has become a very successful being. He is able to invent stuff, and live more comfortably than ever before. He deserves it really.

I can't understand why people aren't happy with their lot. I know people who moan and whinge about everything, even though they have plenty. I think there would be far less stress and financial trouble in the world if people realised it's pointless to try 'keeping up with the Joneses' and going into debt merely to impress others. We should all be proud of what we have, and of our achievements. You can't take it with you!

When it comes to those increasing needs we have to the poing that we forget to be simple and get satisfied with what we have, I often follow Maslow's Theory on Hierarchy of Needs. We only get satisfaction when we have reached a point where spiritually we are resolved and those material needs are but just a phase in our lives.

Hello there tryx.... For me I will never be satisfied and happy with material things.. Family is more important to me than any material things I posses.. I was thinking Material things are useless when you have no someone your family to share with..

hi I think we aren't sure what do we want. believers say that we have two aspects - physical self and soul. To them life is to know the soul - the true self. But due to ignorance we fail to realize true purpose of life. WE tend to ignore that part and run after physical comforts. As a result, always we feel a void and never feel contended.

Its because we are not happy with ourselves and until we get to the point where we would genuine be happy with ourselves, nothing can be good enough. I always said we are weird and this is just one more thing that proves that lol

i think as humans we always have to tell ourself that no matter how much we have we always need something extra, we're never quite there becuse if we actually acheived everything in life and there was noting more we desired out of life, nothing more we dreamt of doing, then what would be the point in living?

Contentment comes from within, from being satisfied with what you have. It is a very rare virtue, for all of us are constantly looking out for more and more from life. We, especially when we are young have the idea of having a p artner who is tall, dark and handsome and rich, or vice versa, and in that, we miss out on a lot of good understanding people who may not reach our ideals. Then as we grow older, we realise that what we have to live with is human nature and not just looks. So its better to be aware of this from the start only.

No-one can meet our 'ideal' anyway we can never make them into our 'ideal' person/partner either when we meet someone we should accept them for whom they are etc..and yes there are now too many things in the world that are materialistic that take away the simplicity of our lives and it is that simplicity that can make us happier without material things....littleowl

yeah i think people nowadays are more like that, but we should realize and think also that you would only be happy on something unless you are content on that thing, maybe they are not yet happy thats why they are not content~!!!but when it comes to relationship i agree on what youve said, we should set a standards because we really dont know who are destined to be with us!!!happy lotting...

I always believe in this phrase which I've made (and people started to use it. haha) - Great expectations bring great disappointment. Be content and be grateful of the little things around you and you'll be happy. But be content does not mean underestimate yourselves. I feel that even if I am content with my current life, there are more I can achieve in terms of career, as a person, a son, a brother, a friend and part of the community. :) That's how i push myself to work harder.

Human beings will never be contented with what they have. There will always be something lacking and will strived for more.

"we will never be satisified with what you've got,but focused on the things we don't have"someone said, Ok,just do it to fulfill your greed, just like there is no an enemy any more, then there is no more intesting in your life, living as a puppet with no objectives,no passion,it's terrible. You see , the uncontented is just the power that leads our life. It's pretty good.

Very philosophical post. It is very true and descriptive of our life. I hope to make choices that are not so discontented. I think we need to enjoy the journey, not just the destination, and honor our fellow travellers.

I don't want to be contented or to have an easy life where I get everything I hope for. I feel I have achieved more when I have had difficulties to overcome. I enjoy the challenges in life and I think it's good that sometimes things don't turn out as expected. Mistakes and bad decisions lead me to new experiences and can offer unexpected opportunities. I think about what I have in life and I am grateful for all the good things, however small and insignificant. I focus on what I have rather than think about what I don't have. I don't look for the ideal or expect perfection. I appreciate people for what they do, and who they are. I never expect them to be exactly as I would like them to be, anymore than I would want to be as others think I should be.

yeah, people are not meant to be contented or satisfied with what they have. we would always want something even if were able to achieve our targeted goal. we always look for something that we dont have, and most of the time we neglect those we do have.

I think being not contented is psychological and depends on how we are grown up. Some people are contented of having necessary food on their tables every day on the other side others are not contented of having billions dollars... We are not contented because we are not enough strong and dont know ourselves good enough. Comparing youself with the people who lives worse than you will help a person become contented I think.

its human nature to strive for something better and the struggle gets us down. Its, usually, until we get what we hav aimed for that we realsie it wasnt really what we wanted in the first place or that things arent wot u thort they wud be.
