I have removed it from my diet, amongst other things. I know that it is bad for you, for many reasons and now I see commercials trying to convince us that it is good for us. I am thinking, "Are they kidding!"
One day, on The View, Whoopie Goldberg let the food companies have it about corn syrup and how it is making our society fat.
Here is a good article to view.... http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/10/21/guess-who-funds-high-fructose-corn-syrup-studies.aspx
Tell me your thoughts.

I heard that you should avoid any food substances that end in "ose" I am beginning to see that is true. I think it is disgusting how much fructose and glucose in the things we eat. It is no wonder that we are having a fat epidemic.

Yes, so very true!! I have discovered Stevia and use honey a lot, too. They are better than sugar for health.

Alot of farms sell maple syrup without alot of additives, and it tastes just as good if not better than commercial maple syrup.

Eat real maple syrup. It costs more but it's better for you than HFCS. Also, raw sugar is better for you than processed sugar.
Honey is a great replacement!

I try to, yes. I've seen those commercials! I have to laugh. HFCS is even sweeter than regular sugar, and considering how it's in practically everything at the grocery store -- and this country wonders why we've such a problem with obesity.
It's sortof addictive. Duh.
...good thing I never really had a serious sweet tooth, heh.
The sweeter something is, the less appealing it is to me.
And considering how little nutritional value it has, I mostly just skip buying the things with it in it from the grocery store and make most of my own food. (We grow alot of our own food now).

That is good that you make mostly fresh food. I remember reading to shop only on the outer parts of the supermarket, where all the fresh and frozen foods are and stay away from the middle, where it is all carbs and processed.

I prefer to skip grocery stores altogether, myself. Farmer's markets, and trying to stock up the house for the winter suits me better. But I think that's good advice for people who don't have that option =)
Other good bit of advice for people who're trying to avoid the worst stuff: read the ingredients on the back of the package, and if one's really serious about it -- research the companies that make them.

I must disagree with you. First of all, I read the article and I was already aware of the commercials being paid for by the corn industry. However, I don't think that high fructose corn syrup is as evil as everyone thinks it is. After all, if we eat a balanced diet and limit our sweets then we don't have a high fructose corn syrup problem. There are lots of reasons we shouldn't drink sodas, eat tons of candy or sugary treats, or choose fruit drinks rather then juice, but too often high fructose corn syrup is made out to be the bad guy when it is just plain bad eating that is bad.
Additionally, we have a fat society because people choose the wrong foods in general. It could be candy, sweets, or even burgers and fries. WE eat bad and then blame corn syrup. If we had corn syrup in moderation, like we should all things that aren't 100% healthy for us then we would be healthier people. Ban fatty burgers, white flour, sugar, sweeteners, corn syrup, and everything bad for you, you will find yourself eating fruits and veggies! Instead, stick with balanced and in moderation.

hi nanajanet the moment I learned I was a diabetic I began
reading labelsand avoiding the stuff that is bad for me, andfor anyone really. High fructose cornsyrup is certainly one of the
things I now avoid, and it seems to pop up in a lot of unusual
places too. I know it is not good for me, and I never buy
anthing that contains it. I have enough problems making sure
my blood glucose level stays where it should be at all times.

My grandmother and mother-in-law had both developed diabetes in their late 50's. I do not want to develop it, too, so I avoid it as much as possible.

When I first saw that commercial with the popsicle that was all for the hfcs, I remember thinking that it seemed a bit odd to me. I mean, I was under the impression that eating things with that in it was just like sticking your mouth in the sugar bowl. I don't know why they are all of a sudden trying to promote eating sugar. Maybe the commercial is made by fast food restaurents and chocolate factories...

Don't those corn syrup commercials just drive you nuts?????
So irresponsible, trying to pass it off as healthy.
Thanks for another good article reference.
