Since Syd Barrett was one of the founding members of Pink Floyd was it fair on others to remove him from the band. He was very talented writer. So should he had stayed on??

The worst Pink Floyd was when Syd was a member. After David Gilmour came in they were great.

The reason that Syd Barrett left, he wasn't fired, was that his brain was scrambled after a bad LSD trip. He tried to keep on going but couldn't. The band members stopped going to visit him after a while because he would start crying when he would think about what he used to be.

Yes it's true his behavior was the reason for not being in the band after the first two albums as my fellow MyLotter said. And as you said of course he was very talented and I very much admired the early sounds of Pink Floyd so much. But, it's still thanks to him that the band did so well over the years for being a founding member. I believe they gave him enough thanks by tributing Shine on You Crazy Diamond to Barrett. One of my favorite songs =]

True Syd Barrett was one of the founding members, however Pink Floyd really got off the ground after he left and Roger Waters pretty much steped in to fill the void. After Syd keft is when Pink Floyd became who the are today.

I am think Pink Floyd was much better after Syd had left the band. David Gilmour stepped in and created some of the most memorable guitar solos since. Not to mention Roger waters who started writing some of the best lyrics and concepts for some of the albums of all time. DSOTM WYWH ANIMALS and THE WALL!!!!
