If you're a smoker, do you smoke in your car?

I no longer smoke but when I did, I didn't smoke in my car. The number one reason being it makes the car smell disgusting. My father however is a smoker and last week he borrowed my car for three days to take to work. Because I have been unable to drive, I didn't get into my car until just a couple days ago and boy it stank! I got so angry at my father because he knows that I don't let anyone smoke in my car. His argument was 'I had the window down.' Woop de doo! I told him in no uncertain terms that he is never to smoke in my car again or he'll be banned! His car just has a permanent stale smoke smell to it and I can't stand it. Is it that hard to just wait until you're home to have a cigarette or is smoking while driving a habit for some people?

Well, I smoke when I drive. Your Dad pulled a kid thing with you. I know you don't find it funny. But if you think about it how many times did you break his rules a a teenager? But no he should of waited to have a cig. I do when I'm not in my own vec. as it is just ruse to smoke in someone else's. Just tell him he is grounded for two weeks for smoking in your car. Parents payback can make us so mad. But smile and go to his house and cook someting really smelly and leave. Or have him detail the car. He won't smoke in it again. Not cheap. Your friend onlydia

I can't believe your father smoked in your car when he knows you do not smoke and that is a non-smoking car! That is so bad. I would ask him to give you the money to have it thoroughly detailed - you know, shampooed, armor all, air freshener, the works! I think that's the least he could do for you. And, I am sorry but I wouldn't let him borrow your car again because of that. I don't smoke, but if I did I would not think to smoke while I was in a non-smoker's car. Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

Dad does a lot for me, he fixes my car and services it so I'd feel bad asking him for money but I did go off at him majorly and I felt kinda bad afterwards. At least I know now that he won't do it again, and the smell seems to have gone away.

I never let anyone smoke in my car. I am not a smoker. My husband quit this past summer and I would not let him smoke in the house. I hate the smell and if someone has a smoke smelling home, I will not visit it. I have stayed away from parties where people smoke around everyone, bars, etc. Now that bars and restaurants are banning smoking by me, it makes it easier. It actually makes me ill.

I do smoke and in my car too. I agree smoking stinks, and will not smoke without the windows open. I does work, my car doesn't stink like others I have rode in. Non smokers can smell that smoke if you smoked in the car just once, I think. As for waiting, if I'm gone a short while, I wait. Smoking is a habit period and I think it's more a matter of how long you'll be in the car and how heavy of a smoker you are when you talk about waiting. If I had to wait more than an hour or so I'd probably have road rage

My husband smokes, but I do not. When we had a car he would smoke in it with the window down, so the car would not smell like smoke, and so I would not have to breathe it in. At home he would smoke outside on the back porch. It was a good way of keeping the smoke out of our home.

I don't own a car at the moment but when I did have a car I did used to smoke in it all the time. Only when I was by myself or with another smoker though. What used to bother me big time was seeing parents drivepast with their kids in the car and they're smoking away like chimneys. I am a smoker, sure; but you don't ever smoke in a closed space with children around!

My husband smokes but not in our car, nor in our house. I use to smoke 7 years ago and gave up when I got pregnant. Now I hate the smell. My neighbor was a heavy smoker until she ended up in hospital for something serious and was told by the doctors to stop smoking. She smoked in her house and when she invited me over to her place, after 10 minutes of being there, I would get a headache. When I go home I can smell it all over my clothes, yuck.

Well I do not smoke any more but my partner still does and yes he smokes in the car and when I smoked I did as well. Why not? It is our car, why shouldn't we smoke. Actually I find that traveling is a real habit time for smoking as there is not a lot to take your mind off it. Mind you it depends how long the trip is. Or regular shopping trip takes at least 3o minutes and we got in the habit of lighting up as we got in the car. It was one of the habit smokes that I had to give up.

I smoke in the car, and yes it's a discusting habit, but one that I enjoy. What seems to help for the smell, is not using the ashtray, and of course - lots of nice smelling things to cover any smells. I most certainly won't disrespect anyone else by smoking in their car if they so wish.

Ok im going to start off with. I do Enjoy Smoking in the car. not my car but someones car. i still don't have a car. but when i do i would not smoke in it 1.it would be destracting.. i smoke with my right hand and the window is on the left.. would make an award position for me (i ash a lot) 2. i would not want the smell in my car number 2 goes to my continued responce. i would not smoke in my car or my house because i would not want to be around that constant smoke smell.. its nice to come home to a clean smelling house or car. and its not to much effort to step outside and have a smoke. BUT!!! i do live in canada and it is getting very cold out so i have moved my smoking to the garage. but i think that is fine because it will air out quickly and the door to the laundry room is shut + every time i come in from a smoke i spray the laundry room with fabreze so that if some smoke got in it will clear out the smell

I do smoke in my car and in my home. It my personal choice to smoke so I don't have a problem with smoke in or on my property. If I visit a friend that is non-smoker, I smoke outside. If I am riding in a non-smoking car, I don't smoke. I do my best to respect other peoples choices because I want them to respect mine.

I think addiction and habit are the main reasons to get someone to smoke when he or she is driving. Most of the time, smokers don't really realize their cars are actually smelled bad when they smoke in their cars,I think they are just immune and get so used to the bad smell. Lol. I think for non-smokers,the best way to get rid of all these,is to get rid of all friends who smoke in their car or just avoid to get in their cars.

Man , you just have to take it easy with your father! Although smoking in the car while driving is a bad habit and dangerous. But mind you , your father is the man in question . Just don't take it hard on him because we can not have the same habit and talk to politely, he can stop smoking !!!
