McCain vs Obama and email

I have written several articles on the upcoming election discussing the smear campaign by the McCain Palin camp against Obama pointing out that the "radicals" Obama is supposed to be "in with" was back in the 1960's when I think we all knew some radicals. I also have written about Palin being responsible for the machine gunning of wolves from the air, the attempts to ban books without having ever read them and the attempt to fire a librarian who stood up to her. The idea of Republicans winning this election is scarier than ever as more and more comes to light about the candidates. (like McCain's service buddies coming forward to discount his claims of being a war hero) So today in my email this came, and I found a bit of humor to ease the nerves and wanted to share it with you all. Dear Red States:If you manage to steal this election, too, we've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us. In case you aren't aware, that includes California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the North East. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New California. To sum up briefly: you get Texas, Oklahoma and the slave states. We get stem cell research and the best beaches. We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood. We get Intel and Microsoft. You get Worldcom. We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss. We get 85% of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama. We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states pay their fair share. Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22% lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms. Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and htey don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq, and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we're not willing to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire. With the Blue states in hand, we will have firm control of 80% of the country's fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92% of the nations fresh fruit, 95% of America's quality wines, 90% of all the cheese, 90% of the high tech industry, 95% of the corn and soybeans. (thanks Iowa!), most of the u.s. low sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus Stanford, Cal Tech, UCLA, Berkeley and MIT. With the Red states, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88% of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92% of all u.s. mosquitoes, nearly 100% of the tornadoes, 90% of the hurricanes, 99% of all Souther Baptists, virtually 100% of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Cemson and the University of Georgia. We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you. Additonally, 38% of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62% believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the war, the death penalty or gun laws, 44% say that evolution is only a theory, 53% that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61% of you crazy bas***ds believe you are people with higher morals than we lefties. Finally, we're taking the good pot, too. You can have that dirt weed they grow in Mexico. Peace out, Blue States end of that email. For obvious reasons I had to*** some of the letters in one word above, but wanted you to know what the email said when I got it. It poses an interesting idea should the Republicans manage to win the day. The Republicans have a concerted effort to disenfranchise voters (mostly democrats and blacks through the systematic passage of laws about "exact matches" of identification for the purported purpose of "ballot security" which has caused retaliatory responses like "stealbackyourvote.com" where there is some good information if you happen to live in a state with a Republican controlled legislature (it does not affect those of us who do not have that although it is not made clear in their presentation.) Over all I think this coming election is going to be a very interesting one, but full of hardships for those of us who are volunteer poll workers. I think it will be a very very long day indeed.

Why not let each county decide how they want to go and you will find the map looks totally different. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/vote2004/countymap.htm When you talk to people in New York, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, California and other states where a large city or two dominates the state you get a different point of view. If you look at the county map you will see that the people who voted for the Democrats are from the large cities and this is where you find the large welfare populations and the large government employees living. Go ahead and take your Blue Counties all 592,000 sq miles and we will keep the Red Counties all 2.54 million sq miles. But don't ask us for food or oil and don't ask us to subsidize your mass transit. When the terrorist strike don't ask me to send my sons to defend you. You can go ahead and tax all you want your counties.

Sorry bobmnu, I live in a small southwestern county in Illinois and my county has been in the blue column for as long as I can remember. Your theory doesn't hold water. What state do you live in? It'll probably turn blue by election time, if it isn't already, after the residents get their heads turned on straight.

I also live in a blue county. It holds water in the county and I tend to vote blue for county issues, but outside the county it means nada.

Well, heck, bob, why not take it down to each individual town...or how about down to each subdivision? Your claim that adults on welfare and government employees living in a city, for instance New York which has over 8 million residents, makes a difference in how the state goes is way out of touch with the facts. With the polls showing the race as close as it is at the state levels, I don't believe that the residents of large cities are just as divided as everyone else.

Hurrrahhh! I live in Illinois and I get to join you!!!! I made the biggest mistake in my life and my mother would turn over in her grave if she new about it. I voted repu (I can't say it) in the primary so a friend of mine could get on the ballot as a judge. BIG mistake he didn't need my vote. Now, I get emails and phone calls from the repubs wanting a donation to help them steal another election. Yep, I was a dumb a** at the time but he was a good friend of mine. I guess I'm not the only one who watched them steal the election in 2000, they even went to highest court (repub majority) in order to get a ruling to stop the count. I remember those bast*** repubs who were banging on the door trying to get the count stopped. My newest motto: Never trust a repub even if he or she is a friend. We go to our monthly card club tonight (men and women) and I know that two of them are staunch repubs. I promised my wife I wouldn't talk politics, but if the bring it up, I'll just have to join in.

I love it. I'm stuck in one of those red states but I'm wondering just how red it is since we have had Republicans ruling so long. I think I'm going to pass this off to the conservatives I know. Thanks!
