I am just curious on what people collects, be it stuff toys, books, travel souvenirs, dolls, cars etc. How and when did you start this collection? What kind of satisfaction do you feel each time you look at them? Do you buy most of them or just gifts? Where do you keep them? I used to have an officemate who loves to collect pigs, not real ones though. That would be a piggery! May it be figurines, stuff toys, mugs, ball pens, bags, etc. Name it, she has it. During her birthdays or Christmas, I don't have any problem on looking for a gift specially for her. Just look for a pig item in the mall and she'll be delighted to receive it. Her room is full of pigs in any color and sizes as well. I hope to know what your collections are. I hope these are not enemies! Thanks!

hello Arun (or Sun)! How are you? Wow, that's something else. Collecting empty refills of ballpens is my opposite, I collect ballpens that are not empty, most of those are from different places in our country and the world, usually gifts from relatives and friends who travelled abroad. I have been collecting since High School. I have around 200 of them. Thanks for your response! Have a nice day!

i currently collect old Bibles and antique books. i love books as i have been a writer for several years. i love old stuff too because it is interesting to think of what hands (and what the people were like) that owned the books. i also very much like history! i used to collect antique glasswear and other old odds and ends.

I have collection of different varieties. First thing is Old Gramaphone Records which presently I am not persuing any more for the want of time and efforts require to get them! My second collection pertains to ballpoint Pens. I have collected more than 2000 ball point pens without any duplicates and for this I have been awarded a Certificate from our National Book of Records by name Limca Book of Records.I am also having my name mentioned in that book. Again because of want of time and managing the whole collection isnot that easy, I have more or less stopped adding further to my existing collection, which presently I have packed and stored in the store room!! Third one is interesting one and I like this hobby verymuch and likely to continue with it! This is collection of One Rupee Coins. I have got One rupee coins from various countries where the currency is one rupee and I have tried to collect One rupee coins from India since the first coin came into existance. Thus I have pre independant One rupee coins and post independant one rupeee coins in my Collection. I have got the first One Rupee Coin issued by King Sher Shah Suri in 1548 AH, before that there was concept of One rupee. Then after that I got One rupee coins from Princely states then, Mughul period, British Ruled territories and by East India Company. All these coins are Silver ones! Post Independant coins are not of Silver but are with different designs from different mints.ighlight of my Coin collection is that I have got Coins of one rupee with mint errors. For this collecion of mine which is largest in the Company The Limca Book Of Records entered my name in their Book and awarded me with Certificate ! I am really proud of my One Rupee coin Collecion which I have systematically preserved in a Album after packing each coin in coin holder along with all the details and a piece of history whenever I could manage to add ! Thanks for initiating such a nice topic of discussion I liked it! happy Mylotting!

Wow AKRao24! You have quite a lot of collections. I am quite surprised as well that a record-holder replied to my discussion. It is such an honor! I really like it on how you describe your collections, it is as if I can really see them. Thank you very much and I am happy to know how people love and become dedicated to such hobby. And thank you for liking this topic. I actually put it in a wrong "interest", it should be in hobbies or maybe question and answers. But anyway, I am glad to sign in here in myLot about a few minutes ago and found out that there are 31 responses! I left myLot with this topic about 4AM earlier (Philippine time). Have a nice day and it's really nice to know about your collections!

hi iamcdy! i like pigs too! does your friend likes Monokuro Boo? the black and white pig and with a tagline "simplicity is the best"? i don't have much of a collection of it yet but i buy stuffs of it once in a while. i only have ballpoint pens, ID holders, key chains, mirror, lip gloss, etc. those are just little things. i'm dreaming of buying big stuffs like pillows, towels, bags, umbrellas, etc. but they are just so expensive so i'm putting it off for now. ^__^;; i also buy other types of pigs especially the pink ones. ^__~ i have other collections too. most of it are anime stuffs that i have bought before. most of it are stickers, stationaries, notebookds, vcds, dvds, key chains, pin buttons, playing cards, etc. i also have a small stamp collection. i have brand tags mostly of clothes that i buy. i just feel happy when i look at them. i bought most of it and the effort i put in it is just satisfying.

I have collections of letters (love letter, friendship letter). I love writing letters to all my friends even theres no occassion, I use to write them. Even where not far away each other and we always see each other we always did that, write each other any time we want. Of course when I wrote them I tell them that they have to wrote at back to me. And they wrote me a letter then. Thats my nature to write letters to my friends even to the boys, I don't care what people say if I write letters to the boys. I only express my feelings in letter thats why I keep writing and writing to them. I have a collections of magazines too, different kind of magazine I love to collect. I'm not just collecting them, of course I read them too. I learn a lot of things in them. I learn more in english. I am not good in english reading and reading different kind of books and magazine I can learn anything. That's all!!

This is a cute one. I also didn't notice that I collect letters until I read your response! You're right, letters are a way to express our feelings and must be treasured. I also keep letters, since my elementary days. I still keep them in a box and read them once in a while. Thanks angeltrhix! This collection is really precious!

I think collecting stamps is really a famous one. I also used to have one but most of the stamps are only handed-down to me by my sister. She gave it to me as a gift and told me to continue collecting. I am sad knowing that I just didn't. Thanks for sharing winspc!

hmm, I love to collect stuff toys, books and anime stuff. I love collecting these things and I feel satisfied and happy whenever I bought things that I will add to my collections. I started to collect anime stuffs when I'm in high school and since then I love collecting manga, card, wall scrolls, etc. As for the stuff toys, I really love it since I was a kid, mostly are gifts and others I bought it. And for the books, I just recently collect it but I only collect my favorite books and books that I think that were worth to put in my shelves.

You are lucky!I asked this question before and only 1 responded....LOL When I was very young I collected signature perfume/cologne not really to use them but just to collect the unique and lovely bottles. After that, my friends thought I got stranger because I collected blades-knives,swords,daggers.I thought they were cute...yes cute!...haha...and I would love to add to them still.During the past years however, I became addicted to Lord of the Rings and I collected more than a hundred actionfigures all in mint condition in their original boxes.I have them displayed in my office and I still wonder how I was able to buy all those stuff. When I feel bad or lonely I am able to get over my depression by recalling whence and where did I find the "rare" models of my LOTR. Lately, I indulged myself in searching for vintage Swiss watches. They are truly a work of art and a good investment too. P.S. I don't have enemies.

Really? Actually, I think I put this discussion in the wrong interest. It should be in hobbies or question and answers. Well, it must be a blessing in disguise. Your collections must be really expensive! But I know it is not important, it is your satisfaction that matters. And if you have extra money, why not buy right? I am glad you don't have enemies, that's the worst kind of collection that anyone could have! Thanks for sharing coffeebeatnik!

i used to collect stationery back in high school. i had tons of them because me and my friends loved writing to each other. so eventually, it amounted to so much that i had to check myself from buying a set every time i go to a bookstore or wherever you can find it on sale. when i was in college, i collected old pocketbooks (not the Tagalog ones. I have outgrown the Tagalog ones early on). i think it reached 300+ because every time i have money, i will spend it on buying one. but i realized i have not read all of them, so again, i have to check my self when i feel the impulse to buy a new book. right now, i am not collecting anything, except perhaps dirt under my fingernails

i actually had someone make custom shelves in our house just to accommodate all of them. i hate it when someone borrows my books and returns it in bad condition. imagine saving up for a book and then just having it neglected by someone else. really annoying, with a capital A.

I feel the same way. Sometimes I hesitate to lend my books but I don't want to be selfish because I also get to borrow some from my friends. But one of my friends gave me an idea about this problem. One time, when she borrowed my book, I saw a letter inside. It was like a poster or caution about the book, that as a respect to the owner, the book must be returned to the owner once the borrower finished reading. It must also be returned in the same condition that it was borrowed. Something like that. Ever since, I printed a lot of copies of it and put it at the back of all my books. I hope it helps.

The dirt under your nails are really precious! Kidding aside, I used to collect stationery as well but it was during elementary. I used to keep my money everyday so that at the end of the week, I have lots to spare. But it stopped when I was in High School. Maybe because I transferred to another school, which was very far from the bookstore. I used to exchange stationery with my cousins. Your pocketbooks must be a lot! Seems like a library of your own! Thanks kayedanda. Thanks for sharing us about your collections.

I'm a bit of a collection junkie! :) I collect all types of things. I like antiques, not so much furniture but old things. Old medicine bottles and food containers. I also collect sports memorobilia like autographed baseballs, footballs, and basketballs, bats, sports figurines, autographed basketball shoes, etc. My biggest collection is vintage speed and hot rod parts. I have a few classic cars, 1949 Mercury, 1950 Chrysler, 1941 Chevy Truck, 1929 Model A Roadster and I love collecting vintage parts for these cars. Not new replacement parts, but the ones people used back in the 40s, 50s and 60s. There are also lots of other collections, but those are my favorites. Like I said, I'm a bit of a collection junkie. :)

I actually have a large garage in my backyard where all the cars and parts are kept. (They have to be inside, my wife doesn't like to see the "junk") As far as the other stuff, its spread out around the house or packed up in closets. I keep my favorites on shelves in my office, but most are packed away for storage.

I've been collecting those reshaped ovalish pennies from souveneir shops.. the ones from the machines where you put like two quarters and a penny in and the penny comes back out flat with a new design.. ie: my golden gate bridge one. Also I love earrings, and other jewellery in general. I like really fun earrings. Also, some old stickers I really like. I have a few charms too, but not much else I suppose.

Pig collection! Now that's cool! LOL! And yeah, that's great for gift-giving too, knowing what she really wanted to receive. My collection is centered on books, reading materials and writing materials. Whenever my friends give me gifts, its always books or writing stuff. I collect all kinds of books, novel/fiction, academic (especially Math and Computers), self-help and more. I also collect magazines. I guess I'm just a woman of words, hahaha!

It really wasn't a hassle at all! You'll just be worried about what kind of pig she wants next. Sometimes I ask his brother if she already has this kind before I buy so that there won't be a duplicate. You're the third person here who collects books! I think books are easier to find than pigs. Thanks for sharing maple_kisses!

hello iamcdy :-) i am fond of having collections as a child. i used to have a stamp collection in high school and also as a little girl, i am fond of stationeries- those colored papaers with cool and cute images and smells so good. i outgrew both of those collections in time. i gave out the stationeries and the stam collections is i guess in one of my drawers at home, unopened for years now. if there is one thing i love to collect now, it is jewelries, though that would be an expensive hobby. i do have a number of jewelry pieces right now and they are all lovely.

Well as a magician, I have a collection of different types of deck of cards. Actually I didn't mean to collect them. Some friends just gave them to me. Besides playing cards, I used to collect stamps but sadly I don't know the basics of it, I just keep them on the envelope, not attempting to remove them. I have some anime figures too that I bought from gashapons (those little vending machines in toy stores)Well I hope to expand my collection someday.
